Okay everyone, I see you.

 

Just know I really am doing my hardest to be on top of things the best I can right now. It may not look like it, but I really am. That's why I had to snap up from my recovery and heavily attend to the site yesterday, and will be doing so intently from this moment on. I understand your frustrations of the site being understaffed, and I will look into adding some additional mods, especially since traffic will be heavy. For everyone who has been facing issues prior to this, I apologise. I really am going through something very serious and I am both physically and mentally unwell. I do my best to do what I can, but at this very moment in time it is hard considering I haven't even left my room in weeks and even the simplest of everyday tasks such as eating or moving around has become an immense struggle. 

 

LanaBoards is always in my mind throughout all of this though, and I will be doing my best to attend to it the best I can midst my recovery. I know some of you are frustrated about mod queues and banishments, and there are always solutions. First, I should remind you all that the LanaBoards Rules are always present under the Help & Support section to review at any time. Additionally, any members who joined after I became the owner were given a link to the Rules & Posting Guide in their Welcome PM to review before beginning to post. You all know and have known asking for & linking leaks is against the rules, we go through this every album cycle. Unreleased leaks are treated a bit differently, but we take Officially Released Content leaks very seriously. Not only that, but the rules still stand after the album is released too. This is a LEGAL issue. It is ILLEGAL to host or share any unauthorized links to content that is officially released for purchase or streaming. LanaBoards is NOT a hub for illegal activity. This is a piracy issue. I have to always take steps to protect the site as I can. Also, someone made a good point in an earlier post that this site is free for you all. I do not charge you all anything to be members, and pay for all of the costs myself, willingly, because I want you all to have a fun and safe environment to discuss our favourite artist. Again, I do the best I can, but I cannot deny that it is especially hard for me at this point in time.

Due to my health status, I am on a medical leave from my full-time job, so I will have more time to attend to LanaBoards, especially during this tumultuous time leading up to the album release. As I said earlier, I will also look into on boarding additional staff.

 

A note about those warned and banned, those who were banned have reached out. I will be communicating with them to review their situation and see if a compromise can be found. But again, after this point, there WILL be no exceptions. I feel like I shouldn't have to remind you all of the rules every time an album release comes around as the Rules are always up to review, and it is just common sense.. again this isn't just a LanaBoards rule, this is a LAW. Piracy. C'mon guys. You should know better. LanaBoards is a source for DISCUSSION, not for illegal activity. I have to protect the site, as I am the one who hosts and pays for it to continue to run, and am therefore at the forefront of core responsibility.

Also, I do advise everyone to use spoilers if you're sharing content about the album for the benefit of other users who want this to continue to be a safe space to share hype about the album during this pre-release stage. I’m sorry, but how can ANYONE have the AUDACITY to get offended when someone tells to stop spreading SPOILERS in a PRE-RELEASE thread FFS.

or just don’t do it? because there’s so many members that can’t go back to this thread now because of this? clampigirl and the others from our gc can’t come onto this thread because people are being inconsiderate. just use a spoiler and stop being so ugly.

can we please start using spoilers bc there’s literally no reason just to be posting this kind of stuff in the pre-release without one.

the problem with a leak two weeks early is the fact that it means the album will no longer have streaming impact. streaming is a huge part of an album’s longevity. would born to die be one of the longest charting albums of it wasn’t for streaming? probably not.
 
by the time the two weeks have past, people will have figured out which songs they like, which songs they don’t and then be more selective about what they listen to. you’ll also probably miss out on the initiall hit of someone repeatedly streaming a song they’ve just discovered and loved. a person who may stream a song continuously over and over for an hour may only stream it twice a day if they’ve already listened to it and “worn it out” per say.
 
and, as someone who is confident this is lana’s best album, i want to reserve every stream for release. i know i’ll love most of these songs and listen over and over because of the snippets i’ve heard, and i feel like she deserves the success, which is why i personally am not going to open these lq leaks. she has poured soul and maturity into her snippets and i want her action to have the reward i feel like it deserves. i’m not going to judge people for listening to leaks bc we’ve all been there and i’m not a hypocrit but i don’t get why so many people don’t have the patience and self control to just say no. it will affect her charting position and i don’t want that this time around. especially a whole TWO WEEKS early. two days may not have as much of an affect, for example, but two weeks definitely will. it’s a shame in my opinion.
