Hello! So, Keeping this community isn't free, and it isn't possible to make much money from the ads.

"As you know back at the start of April when West Coast first aired we faced two days of downtime. This was because our server wasn't able to cope with the huge load of people trying to access the forum (over 50,000 people trying to access the forum on April 14th) We expect the demand to exceed this when Ultraviolence is finally released and the events leading up to it. We have now agreed with our server provider to allow the server spec to grow automatically when the demand meets exceeds our current specifications."

This was back in the Ultraviolence era, since then the growth of the forum has skyrocketed. In the month of July alone we're had 750,000 people try and access the site which led to multiple instances of regrettable downtime... So far in August, just under 1 million people have tried to access the forum... The server that we are currently on isn't able to keep up with this demand, and the further demand that the new era will bring.

Because of this we're asking you for a small contribution to help support this place and keep it running. Any and all money that is contributed is funneled strictly towards the monthly server/software bill. Not a single penny is pocketed for personal use. I created Lana Boards because I adore Lana and love being able to create and join in on a place where we can all stay up-to-date on news and socialise with each other. I truly enjoy this place and never desire to make a penny off of running it. The time I put into this place is solely out of passion for music and a strong desire to create a nice space for everyone to interact on.

To keep things completely transparent, I currently pay $950 a year for our forum software and our server. I don't mind picking up some of that tab myself, but just if you enjoy this place, it would help out if you could make a small donation to help pay that bill.

I'm only just getting around to processing the actual titles we got on the tracklist...Title and length of The Blackest Day sound like magnum opus material and the throwback to Backfire in Salvatore ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

no thank you, i prefer seeing them whining everyday and hour for that song, instead of having it occupying a place of the album

I'm not directing this towards you specifically, just using your post as an example. I think people use the word "boring" far too loosely when describing music. I genuinely don't know what people refer to when they say "boring" because the meaning differs so much from person to person. I guess when people describe the songs Honeymoon and TLY as boring they mean "slow songs with minimalist production" or something similar, a type of music that rarely bores me. If I were to pick the songs that bore me the most right now it would probably be Cheerleader and Love Me Like You Do, but obviously a lot of people don't find those songs boring at all.

Of course some songs can be percieved as boring in some situations and not at all in other situations. For example, I think most people would agree that even if you love TLY you would be kinda bored by it while working out or on your way to a party. But switch these situations to a late night bus trip or watching the sun rise from your porch and it would serve you life on a gold plate.

Long story short: can we stop dismissing songs simply as "boring" without any elaboration? k thanks

I fall off my chair from shock every time I see a positive comment, seriously some of you guys are vicious

Okay, I get why you could dislike the cover. She's really tiny and it's definitely a change of style compared to the previous covers. However, I appreciate that she has chosen a different perspective this time, the "looking poutily into the camera" shit was getting kinda repetitive imo though it wouldn't hurt if you could actually see her in the picture. Personally I also really like the text on the truck which y'all seem to hate, I don't really know why but it gives the cover more ~personality~ or whatever you wanna call it.

Most importantly I love the way she's been promoting this album, especially the glimpses of the process she's shared on the honeymoon account and the GENIUS Honeymoon Hotline which is so funny, innovative and just adorable. It all feels so personal and I'm really happy that she's actually involving us this time, something I have missed in the previous releases. She really seems to care about this album, and that makes me look forward to it so much more than when she acts all indifferent.

I can't really say much about the songs we've gotten so far because I've only listened to them once, but I definitely liked Honeymoon and High By the Beach instantly. Terrence Loves You almost had me in tears at first listen and I can actually see it becoming one of my favorite Lana songs ever.

Sorry if I'm being overly positive and delusional but I can't help it, I'm simply beyond hyped for this album.

i don't think lana's slow, minimal songs are boring. if i thought that why would i be a fan lol? but an entire album of them would be monotonous, sorry. lana is capable of more than that. i want some variety.

This has to be my favorite of the releases so far. I've always enjoyed these kind of jazz-influenced/alt tracks more than her catcher stuff. She really has a knack for creating these sultry/dreamy atmospheres with some of her slower songs. Honeymoon had only a couple of listens from me and I like the High By the Beach music video more than the song itself.

I've always been a very melancholic kind of person and I think this is what she is going for on the new album. The mood seems to be more of the focus here rather than lyrics and structure, something that I feel was not concentrated on her other albums. It's what I like to call "solitary music". Music that just fits the contentment of being alone. Music that you want to play when you're at the beach or laying under a tree or riding on the bus through the city. Sometimes it's just nice to take a walk or go somewhere to be alone and....think about things. Maybe that's what she going for. Or maybe not. It works for me that way, at least.

Anyway. I think it's pretty clear that she's not reverting back to her Born to Die sound. I feel like there was so much influence from the label during that time than Lana herself. I mean that whole marketing was so overblown and I think she kind of got tired of that, hence her more stripped back appeal now in both image and music. Even the album itself with it's pop appeal was largely because of the label. Paradise showed hints of that departure. Both Ultraviolence and the songs of Honeymoon show that she has more creative leeway than before. She's handling the promotion herself - which she doesn't seem to mind. I think there's less distraction from people who were trying to polish her and she's more comfortable doing what she is doing. And I think regardless of the polarizing reaction to her recent material, she'll still continue doing what SHE wants to do. If she can get through the slew of criticism from journalists than she can get through the criticisms from her fans just fine.

Goodness gracious, always these BTD this BTD that type of posts from you.

Reality check for you: Lana won't ever release an album that is as pop as BTD. If you struggle with her new directions she is taking, it's time to check out, since these are the artistic choices she makes, not by accident or that she doesn't know any better, but on purpose

Also, sales and charts alone don't define a great record, what a dumb post. I love BTD as the pop album that it is, but for me personally I find her recent material since UV way more interesting to follow. You disagree? Fine, I don't have a problem with that. What I do have a problem with is the stupidy of trying to make an effort to put your opinion above others.

Lana has moved on since BTD and former fans have moved on, too. Just look ar all the people from the past who ain't posting anymore. Others have joined. That's life and that's music business.

Honestly that's how I've interpreted why they did the video the way they did so I, personally, don't think you are reaching too far. I just wish they could have somehow worked out a point of view that would have given off both vibes while being consistent. That might have been impossible though.
