ugh i love the time before the era starts. having no idea what to expect and then bam: ya get a snippet or a single announcement and you're shocked at the artwork and the sound of the music. just taking some time to appreciate lana and her artistry because unlike a lot of other artists her albums are always so diverse.

I was hoping this year would be a Lana tour but so far it seems like more festivals. I will remain calm.

I hope that doesn't mean Lana's doing just some festivals in Europe again... I want a real tour!

Hi everyone: for the safety of Lana and her new project, if you have any "exclusive information" about the new record, please do not tease/share it on the forums - this includes DMs as well. Keep it to yourself. I do not want LanaBoards to be the source of any information that may upset Lana and discourage her about her new album. She will tell us the information when she is ready. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Lots of love! x

I love this snippet so much, why can't she scrap everything and just make an entire album full of this I'm actually aching for this, a new surf-noir, summer, sunlight song

Hawaiian glam metal, AKA meets UV PLEASE Lana

honestly its the BTD era's fault for the fanbase being so messy. we've got these pop obsessed gays running around

Lol, and it's all they're ever going to want from her. I'm laughing, truly and honestly. They literally do not know her at all.

Lana doing trashy bops was cute for a while and I do love those tracks but her more straightforward pop songs are simply not on par w the alternative sound she's persuaded the last few years or her AKA sound or her 2004-2007 folksy sound

I am excited. I just hope she ditched the overused strings!

This song of MS is a modern classic:

a gif of Lemonade dribbling down the sides of her mouth instead of Kool aid?

Lana is not going for #singles.  Not that radio in the US would even touch a song like High by the Beach to begin with.
People seem to not have good memories
Radio didn't touch Video Games or Born to Die either.
It was only a fluke, an unexpected mix that led the Cedric version of Summertime Sadness (which cut out the message of the song)
Had radio realized the song was about suicide, they would not have played it.

Why does it seem like so many "fans" and I use that term lightly, don't seem to understand the concept to begin with?

You know and yes, here comes a Leonard Cohen analogy again- when I saw Leonard sing, you could hear a pin drop.
When he sang his songs, people listened to his words and didn't sing along.

All the kiddies yelling back the lyrics to her in concert, why should she even bother with a show, no one beyond the pit can even hear her
(I myself like the pit, but I don't attempt to get squeezed in at the stage, the back of the pit always leads to a great view and that is where you can find me
(for those that actually pay money to see shows, and I don't much like festivals. Too long, too hot, too crowded, no pit, bad sound, majority of anyones crowd is
not there to see that act.
    Ya know what?
The Beatles stopped performing live early on just because of that reason. They gave up

    You know what2?
Lana has been Lana now longer than the Beatles were an actual functioning group
and longer than Simon and Garfunkel were a working together team.
And Lana has been Lana longer than Bowie was Ziggy.

so pour me another glass of Lemonade

btw- you know how much it costs per day to be Beyoncé? That is why Beyoncé has to be "on" 250 days a year, to pay for the lifestyle.
See what I said a few posts back. Lana on a $ to $ spreadsheet is far more profitable with money in the bank.

and what is most unfortunate in the USA, every single day, Beyoncé and Jay-Z have got to watch out, because to a cop, they don't care if its Beyoncé or Jay-Z,
if you know what I mean.( #blacklivesmatter)
(and did you read the sheet that the Trumpkins gave Beyoncé when she showed up on the CMAs? Can't believe this was in 2016, seemed
to be in the 1950s. The USA sucks sometimes doesn't it?

I am quite content and happy with having new music each year,
when you think about it, when was the last time the Beatles released new stuff?
Remember when John was alive, it was a good 5 years he took off being a dad, and was just coming back when he was taken away from us.
Promo means nothing to me. Release the music, they can't take it out of YOUR hands, it is always there to enjoy, regardless of any video or promo or anything.
What really does promo add to anything at all in the enjoyment of music?
Same as a movie stars owes nothing more than being on screen once or twice a year nowadays.
And one almost never hears an author at all, yet one reads their books.
(How much promo does Stephen King do and he sold gadzillions of books to hundreds of millions of readers over the years.

Are you insinuating that her motivation and dedication to her music is sub par to beyonces or in general? ha. mess.

Beyonce is a great example of taking a decently good singer who left a girl group and turning them into a success story by hiring the best innovative song writers stylists and pr personel all in the right time frame.

Beyonce without all of that is just another singer.

Lana has been dedicated to this for 16 years pre fame and during and i took this very personally because the main reason i love lana is her dedication.  we all know why she isnt at the level of beyonces in the public eye because she does not fit the current trending mold. lana is a rare gift to this time in music because without her we wouldnt have a key female figure in the industry representing quality, lyricism, and melody. She also writes all her own music and doesn't need the fancy additives that beyonce needs like backup dancers (i felt like she had those two girls bc she was trying to keep up with trends, i hope she doesnt have them anymore) , big arenas, promo, because she as a whole is enough. She is a singer. not a performer. theres a difference. she doesnt need all that crap. she is everything she needs to  be. and sadly the majority of today's young audience (who based on analytics dominate the consumer rations in album sales via itunes and cds) do not understand her concepts and/or have no interest because they cant dance to it.

She definitely would not allow him to listen to the entire album. It's too far fetched.

Besides this, a lot of members really seem to take his opinion for fact. It's just opinions, and everyone's will be different, but carrying this bias from another persons thoughts of a song before you've even heard it would automatically make you like it less when you do get to hear it

Anyway, who knows how many times he actually listened to it? Every time you listen to a new song, new intricacies reveal themselves. Its not even about a song being a grower, it's just that there's always too much to take in on first listen.

All of her leads are great so I know this one will be too.

You act like they are some super obscure band. I expect anyone who is a fan of 90´s alt-rock/dream-pop or shoegaze knows them.

I hope she chooses all self written material for her album and especially for the last track. I want her to close the chapter, not somebody else's song.

She can do a cover album when she's 50 or upload covers on her soundcloud if she wants to.

Ugh, guys, I'm out of town until Sunday/Monday so I don't really know what's going on in this thread & don't have the time to catch up on it at the moment, but if I come back to an absurd mess BEYOND THIS POINT I will not be happy. I really don't want to have this thread be locked again.
Some reminders to keep this thread a happy & healthy place of discussion:
    -Please stop blatantly insulting Lana
-Please stop fighting with each other; if you disagree with someone, disagree respectfully -- not rudely
-If you think your disagreement is going to last more than a couple of posts, take it to the DMs
-Try to stay on topic. This thread is called the "meltdown" thread, but let's keep it to small meltdowns about the anticipation of the album rather than literally melting the whole entire earth and all of the Lana fans that inhabit it

Thank you guys in advance for (hopefully) cooperating, and I'll see you soon. Mod team, keep close watch on this thread.

Miss you all. Love always x

I wonder what the ~vibe/theme~ of the new album is, like

    btd was americana/youth/new york/baroque pop.
paradise was darker, with grand strings and religious motifs.
ultraviolence was psychedelic 70s soft grunge/drugs/depression/darkness/guitars and lofi production.
honeymoon was ethereal, languid, dreamy, and hazy

I hope the new record goes down a 70s vintage (kids ) vibe, with a new sound and interesting imagery

Yes, they are so so amazing, that Taylor Swift already wrote a song with these lyrics.
