In National Anthem she sings "Holdin' me for ransom, upper echelon" and I understood everything but not that.

I kinda made up a story that goes with my soundtrack. So Lana's this girl living in NYC who yearns for freedom. She goes to Las Vegas to be a go-go dancer and she meets this gangster guy who is her "boss", they get into all kinds of trouble and she goes crazy and then kills him spur-of-the-moment. Then she's on the run and goes back to New York, to Fordham Road, where she used to live. She commits suicide by jumping off a building and then she is reincarnated into someone in the year 1949.
    Yeah, that was my story...

Welcome to LANALYSIS, where we get real unhealthy in our obsessions and absolutely revel in it.

This is a project I've been maintaining for a while now--Lana + Analysis...get it? The basic purpose is to relate every one of her songs (that's right, every last one of them) to her known and assumed relationships. Not a stone is left unturned. Privacy is violated. The fans rejoice. Mind you, it’s all pure speculation, but ~this is what makes us stans~

It’s pretty long but an interesting read, if I do say so myself. I hope you enjoy it in all it’s updated glory, and I will continue to update as new information is revealed and new songs come out. I will also be adding pictures, sources, etc. Stay tuned!

    Let’s get started!

    EARLY RELATIONSHIPS (1985 - ~2005)

    LOCAL ROCKSTARS (~2005 - 2009)

YOU MADE ME NICE FOR A WHILE (2009 - 2011)

    POST-BREAKTHROUGH (2011+)

    IN THE LAND OF DISCREPANCIES

    ADVANCED LANALYSIS

    IN SUMMARY..

    Lingering questions…
    - Who the fuck is K?
    - Who the fuck is Ray?
    - Who the fuck is Bill? Is Bill really K? Does Bill matter at all?
    - What significance do cars play? She mentions eight in total (white Corvette, white Pontiac, blue Chevy Nova/Chevrolet, Cadillac convertible, Mercedes, pickup truck, Lamborghini, Bugatti Veyron)
    - When was she/who was she with in New York City and New Jersey? Ditto LA? Most mysterious and pressing, her time in the South?
    - Did she have a fling with Bradley Soileau?
    - Did Chris C. matter enough to her for her to write songs about him?

    Assumptions Made:
    - Lana was a gogo dancer.
    - K is a drug dealer/murderer, dead or on death row.
    - Jimmy is her ex-fiancé, addicted to cocaine despite a Wikipedia page stressing how healthy he is, associated with Chevrolets.
    - Much of Sirens is about completely different relationships.
    - She fucked Bradley.
    - Mike controlled her career but their relationship wasn’t associated with anything fucked up like drugs or stripping.

Thanks for reading! I crave both your feedback and theories! This remains a forum collaboration and I don't claim to have the final say on Lanalytical manners.

For the sake of believability, I'm always hunting receipts, and currently:
    - The interview where she refers to "Yayo" as the prequel to "Video Games"
    - The interview where she describes "Video Games" as dealing with mutual sobriety in a relationship--her and her partner both staying clean.
    - The interview where she talks about meeting her boyfriend in rehab and being dazzled by his small-scale celebrity.

okay here's what i think. Tropico was by no means a cinematic masterpiece. it lacked a cohesive plot line and seemed more like 3 very interesting concepts tied together. this isn't a bad thing though. I kind of liked that it relied so heavily on themes that we're all familiar with. they're the themes lana's constantly sung about through most of career: falling from grace, the concept of sin and hedonism, and redemption. In that sense, Tropico is great expression of the character lana del rey portrays.

Furthermore, if we look at Tropico less critically and enjoy it at face value, we have 27 minutes of visually striking material. The colour palette is just absolutely beautiful imo. Especially when we compare each three parts separately. Body Electric looks airy and soft, almost a fantasy world just beyond our grasp with the the blurred pinkish hues. G&M looks much more grungey with focus on that steel blue colour and the contrast of her red lingerie (probs symbolic but let's not go there). Finally we have Bel Air which focuses heavily on yellow/gold tones. idk it's just so pretty. i didn't sit down and watch Tropico expecting an instant classic, but i was entertained and enthralled and that's good enough for me.

    I see it like this:

The Garden of Eden = Paradise = L.A. (the way she expected it to be)

Lana said that The Garden of Eden turned into the Garden of Evil, which is the Land of Gods and Monsters, which is L.A.
Remember the line in "Radio" where she sings: "Now I'm in LA and it's Paradise"
I think the Garden of Eden represents the way Lana imagined it Hollywood/LA to be with Marilyn, Elvis, etc. all being part of it.
She looses her innocent and childish view of it as soon as she's confronted with the truth, she basically took a bite of the truth. Her eyes were opened.

I have mixed feelings about Tropico.   I waited it for so long and was so excited about it but when I saw it I was a little disappointed. I still liked, it was really good. It wasn't just as good as I hoped it to be. Some points it was a little bit boring imo and I didn't like Shaun Ross at all
