I don't like the song so much but I'm curious about how the music video will end with the whistling and the sound of a racing car.

The more videos the better but I hope there is another video after this. At least one more. I'd die for a summer bummer vid with rocky and a cherry video.

White mustang is my least favorite song on the album but I do still like it. Thank god I'll have a video to get the image of the white mustang being g easy's dick out of my head. Damn you whoever made that joke.

I've been listening to the record for on repeat til now. Aside from its various sounds, it's also so cohesive and idk it makes me feel like I'm sort of witnessing history even more keenly, so that's a plus. The record's so grounding

Really? That sucks, personally I can't go through a day without listening to at least Heroin and Get Free.

They all know I love Lana but I doubt that anyone listens to her part from me ofc.

When I first got interested, I decided to play Born to die-Paradise on Spotify in the living room so I could decide if I should buy the record or not. I remember that dad listened with me and reeeaaaallly loved Ride (so did I and it's still one of my faves ♥), he really liked her dark voice, the moody beginning and how it lifted at the end. I'm not sure if he liked any other song that much (he had aphasia (from a brain tumour)  which means he couldn't form words and sentences properly, so he didn't talk, but I understood by his face expressions and smiles). I think mom heard some songs too and thought Lana were different singers, as in a group, because. You know, Lana easily changes her voice from light to dark. Mom was impressed.
And no, I was not ready for that "my pussy taste like Pepsi cola". That moment felt emberassing even though I'm sure I was the only one who heard it.

Both of my brothers follow me on Twitter, so they know how much I spazz about her. One of them likes "Million Dollar Man", but that's it I think. I made my other brother's fiancée interested in Lana too and I know she likes Video Games and have heard Lust For Life as well.

But when a new record drops, I like to play it out loud in the living room or in the kitchen (the kitchen radio has a record player) for myself.

My entire family knows way too much. My whole life revolves around her since two years and I'm completely exuberant about it, I don't want to hide her and I don't care about anyone's opinion about her anyway, I was like this before but I love her and there's nothing anyone can do about it. I'm super mega lucky I guess because they're accepting of it, my mom bought me tickets without hesitating because she knows I would have imploded if I couldn't have went so it's bittersweet, and in general they're kind of ok with the whole thing, as long as I don't push it in their face which is exactly what I'm burning to do. They don't understand what is stanning. They think liking someone's music is the only thing valid and anything more is too much...

I think my very catholic parents are more annoyed by the fact that I'm in love with a girl than the fact it's Lana herself. I've been a fan of so many things they probably think it'll pass as well idk. But they make much less fun of me than they use before and my dad is a pretty big Honeymoon stan (and I hate his fckn guts, coincidence lmao? daddyissues.mp3), always playing it in the car, when usually my parents hate what I'm a fan of. And they see how much time I spend doing edits, my mom's always like oh my god stop working! But it's not even work for me, not really, I do it because I adore her and it relaxes me idk. I do think music my parents like passed on to me but I'm extremely different from my family and much, much less French, I built my culture mostly by myself and I used to hate Lana so it's definitely not coming from them. I'm proud to love her now, I'm glad I went past my first stupid judgment. But yah my family doesn't understands at all why I love her but at least they respect it, I'm just sad because I don't have irl friends because I'm SO into her and all my internet friends are fans of her and my siblings don't get her at all, basically everyone thinks it's a phase and that's what hurts. At least I have her so

Okay so I just wanted to share a random thought I had today and pose a question to y'all.

I was reading this interview for the first time today and she directly compared UV's sound to The Eagles. My mom used to always play The Eagles in the car while growing up. Now when I visit home she always plays that satellite radio station "70's on 7" since that was the era she grew up in, and occasionally they play stuff like Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, Fleetwood Mac, etc. and it got me thinking. I already kind of thought this but never really shared it with anyone, but UV probably had me hooked because I was raised around that type of music and it's kind of familiar to me (though I definitely wasn't exposed to psychedelic type rock as a kid lol )

I have 3 older sisters who drove me around a lot when I was younger, and they played a lot of Tori Amos, Bob Dylan, Radiohead, Joni Mitchell, etc. They're particularly obsessed with Bob Dylan. I remember they would always tan in the backyard while listening to the Beatles too lol. Lana actually reminds me of my older sisters tbh, which is probably why I’m so obsessed with her (a lot of my siblings and I moved away from each other around the time BTD and UV came out, and I kind miss them a lot sometimes). Also the youngest one got into a lot of rap music when she was in high school (she smoked a lot of pot lmao) but my older sisters were not those kind of girlies.    Anyways, what I’m trying to say is that Lana’s music seems kind of like a natural midpoint of all these different artists. I mean, she’s an individual and isn’t exactly like any one of these artists, but it’s really cool how she pulls a lot from these genres I was exposed to as a kid. I’m really thankful to have her as an artist in this day and age, because there’s absolutely no one like her in this kind of space. The nostalgic feeling she evokes for me is really unique, which is why I always get super duper excited for her releases.    I haven’t introduced her to any of my siblings or my mom. I remember playing “Blue Jeans” in the car while my mom was teaching me how to drive but she was too busy teaching me how to drive to comment on the music I was playing lmao. I'm honestly not sure how they would react, and I barely have an idea of what they listen to nowadays. There’s no natural way to bring her up at our family holidays tbh, but I would say she was my favorite artist if they ever asked me.    Anyways, sharing the musical interests of my family was basically a roundabout way of asking y’all: Does your family like Lana? Do they have an opinions on her? Do they know who she is? Do you think any of the music your parents/siblings like passed onto you? Any of it related to Lana?
Honestly I've thought about bringing her up (when the opportunity presents itself--I don't want to be an annoying campaigning stan), but I know I would be so triggered if they trashed her or had some pre-conceived negative opinion on her.

my dad hardcore stans Jimmy Buffett and didn't interact with me that much as a kid so there's that too

    (Verse 1)
    Girls, don't forget your pearls
    and all of your horses
as you make your way across the pond
    Girls, don't forget your curls
    and all of your corsets
memorize them in a little song

    (Pre-chorus)
Shake it up, throw your hands up
and get loose, cut a rug
    Lean into the fucking youth
Choreo, we just want the fucking truth
    (Told by the fake news)

    (Chorus)
Is it the end of an era?
Is it the end of America?
Is it the end of an era?
Is it the end of America?
    No! It's only the beginning
    If we hold onto hope
    We'll have a happy ending
When the world was at war before
    We just kept dancing
When the world was at war before
    We just kept dancing

    (Verse 2)
    Boys, don't forget your toys
and take all of your money
If you find you're in a foreign land
Boys, don't make too much noise
and don't try to be funny
    Other people may not understand

    (Pre-chorus)
Shake it up, throw your hands up
and get loose, cut a rug
    Lean into the fucking youth
Choreo, we just want the fucking truth
    (Told by the fake news)

Is it the end of America?
Is it the end of an era?

    (Bridge)
    Oh my god
    Dizzy from loving you
    Oh my god
    Dizzy from loving you
Dizzy from, Dizzy from loving you
When the world was at war

Okay here it comes, I don't know if in the 200 and so pages someone already brought it up but I don't like how lana continuously uses the title of her song as the main lyrics of her choruses, I'm not saying she shouldn't do it, probably she actually does it purposefully and it is me who doesn't *connect* to it so as an artist who knows better she can do as she pleases, but honestly I'd love it if she'd use it less

like in UV and HM title tracks i can understand the use of repetition because the words "ultraviolence" and "our honeymoon" are actually evocative and the way she sings it actually puts me in the right ambiance and imo she does it best in Sad Girl because the sad/bad girl litany has this pathetic registry to it so it triggers something emotional to me but in the next track the PWYC chorus doesn't have that effect any more and more blatantly i almost hate it in G&R, the song is well structured, i love her voice and the instruments - if she could just add two worlds to the chorus to make it somewhat like a sentence or something more sophisticated i'd love it  because repeating g&r doesn't cut it to me and it happens again in white mustang, a song i could be in love with but again the rhetorical device that makes the title repeat in the chorus frustrates me. maybe the apparition of his white mustang triggers something deep in her and probably makes her heart skip a beat but i don't relate and it leaves me wanting more from the track and i'm left with no satisfaction

and in L4L it's even worse but it fascinates me that she doesn't seem to do it in BTD (if i recall correctly, by memory)
    sorry lana

Guys, I really want to see her again but I'm actually a bit scared too. Since Lana is so much Americana and a successful woman, I can't help but imagining that something alike Manchester will happen... did we ever got to know who was behind it or their motifs? I wasn't scared in London and probably won't be if I get tickets to this tour... but still.

yeah i think she sounds great too and in that song it doesn't bother me that much because i know it serves a purpose (she's being very emotional and we get an interesting glimpse into her inner world, basically her toxic relationships makes her feel anxious while she falls into a whirlwind of insecurities so i can understand that her poor soul feels haunted, her brain repeats her jabs again and again; it's sad and it helps me feel her pain) but i still have a personal negative bias i can't shake off   . I'm listening to AKA rn and she does the ray-ray ray raise me up, which i'm kinda okay with tbh?.

For the rest I can't be harsh on her on her unreleased tracks because it's difficult to criticise negatively something that wasn't meant to be broadcasted and she's careful with this trope in BTD, i have a hard time with this figure of speech when it's not cathartic or she doesn't use it to show off her vocal prowess when the verse is full of vowels, especially since to begin with i have a difficult time relating to lana's lyrics (but i relate to her emotions and everything else about her i like really). Like I said I'm pretty sure this dude's white mustang is triggering for her, but not for me so it slightly spoils the song for my taste. I feel L4L could feel much more polished if she avoided doing that in the title track and white mustang.

yep what bothers me is that i think she could write a good chorus if she were less lazy but it as if she foregoes that for the sake of her beloved trope which she can't move on from, i mean i understand she has somewhat of an obsessive personality reusing the same lyrics and such in many songs; it could be an innocent good artistic choice but sometimes if feels like recycling -.-

literally the only way i can accept the chorus of g&r is if i interpret it like a warped antanaclasis

he loves guns & roses (he likes guns and roses)
he loves g&r (he likes danger/excitement but also beauty/nature)
guuuns and roses, roses, ... (her love interest is bi or pan because some people have guns between their tights and others have roses   and he loves all)
