    Misheard Lana Lyrics

Here is where we can post lyrics that we've misheard in Lana's songs.

Be sure to post the real lyric, too.

    I'll start:

In Diet Mountain Dew it says:

"There in his white Pontiac Heaven"

    I thought it said:

"Ridin' his white pony named Kevin"

    I know, embarrassing

Can't wait to read some of yours!

    Jessica Rabbit
    Queen of the Soda Fountain
    My Mercedes
    French Toast (Cinnamon Girl)
    American Bitch
    Tropical Gangsta
    Alabama Cowboy Man

I literally could do this all day.

I'm pretty confident that in the chorus she says:

I can see my baby swingin'
His Parliament's on fire and his hands are up
On the balcony and I'm singing
Ooh baby, Ooh baby, I'm in love
I can see my sweet boy swayin'
He's crazy y Cubano como yo, my love
On the balcony and I'm saying
Move baby, move baby, I'm in

It makes so much more sense for the rhyme scheme. Swinging/singing, swaying/saying.

I’ve just listened to this song for the first time in a while since it leaked and I’ve finally formed together my complete theory of its meaning. I believe this song is very influenced by Barrie, more specifically, his battle with depression. From Barrie’s lyrics, tweets, and dark influences I think it’s obvious that he is struggling, or at least has at some point in his life, struggled with depression.  Here’s my interpretation:

In National Anthem she says, "Keep me safe in his bell tower hotel"
And I always thought she said "Keep me safe in his will, time will hold tell"

Cola: "My pussy tastes like Pepsi cola"

Serial Killer: "You can see me drinking cherry Coke"

Diet Mountain Dew: "Diet Mountain Dew, baby, New York City"

[i know there's more, but I can't think of them right now]

I'm not sure if this has been posted on here or not (it probably already has) but I didn't feel like looking through all the pages. It's an interview with David Nichtern, the owner of 5 Points Records about the shelving of AKA. Pretty interesting!

    1. If you were to ever write an autobiography or memoir, what would you title it and what would the most important chapter be about?
    2. Out of every song you've ever written, which is most dear to your heart and why?
    3. Can I have three more questions?

    1. What are the names of all your past lovers and what is a song you've written about each? (This would literally solve all of our Lanalysis problems, ever.)
    2. If you had to pick one lyric of all your songs to sum up exactly who you are as a person, which would it be?
    3. What is your biggest regret? What are you most proud of?

I read a theory on here awhile ago that said she might have lied about her age when she was younger to get into bars and maybe that extra year on her fake ID just stuck with her all this time? Seemed pretty plausible to me.

Hi! I think it would be nice to turn this topic on after the Freak video. As I was watching the video this topic just came in mind. A lot of people said it was like a reference to Jim Jones and Charles Manson, the Kool aid cult (related to the red drink) and other stuff related. But It reminded me a lot of Father Yod and his wives also.

Also in TIWMUG, it says "high heels in her hand". I always thought it said "flyers in her hand" and had this image of a drunk girl passing out flyers for something on the side of the road while Lana just leans against a chain link fence and smokes a cigarette..
It's a beautiful image, I tell you. It really is.

You know sometimes I think God's playing a little game with me
Looking down from Heaven, laughing, trying to see how much I can take
Because the way things go, it's like a joke
Nobody's had more shots at the moon and missed than me

It's like I got my life stuck, stuck on rewind
Tryin' to make something of myself, life's got something else in mind
I'm fighting a losing game and I'm biding my time
You won't be my man, do I understand?

    No, stop
I don't wanna hear another word about your why not's, I bought
Your bullshit all before and now you're trying to sell me more, babe

A man who makes a beast out of himself got nothing to lose
Sold my soul long ago, nothing left to choose
I'm tired, tired of singing the blues
    I'm tired, ah

I'm walking down the streets, you wouldn't know what I was thinking
It's just another white girl day, hey, ribbons in my hair and I am sinking down
A double life, a sordid past and I am drinking now
I want to be bad, you say you were glad to see me

    Shut up
I don't wanna know another thing you think you know about me
I'm not who you think I am, smiling but I ain't happy

A man who makes a beast out of himself got nothing to lose
Sold my soul long ago, nothing I can choose
I'm tired, tired of singing the blues
    I'm tired, ah

Oh, my [super God/soul forgot], I can't turn off
My mind is like a ticking time bomb
Trying to kill me from inside
    Haunting me day and night
Is there no remedy for memory?

I've felt this way before, I've known the depths of utter desperation
My boyfriend says I'm like an old movie star, with loneliness as my occupation
I know that he's right, but I don't care tonight
I want to be bad, I want to be bad

    I can't stop
I keep running 'round the same town, knocking you down
    I'm fucked
How can I get out when there's no where to go for miles around?

A man who makes a beast out of himself got nothing to lose
Sold my soul long ago, nothing I can choose
I'm tired, tired of singing the blues
    I'm tired, ah!

    Ah, ah, ah
    Ah, ah, ah

    Hey, stranger
    My strange love
    Would you be mine?
Am I what you're dreaming of?
    Hey, stranger
    My strange love
    What makes you shine?
What makes you fall in love?

It's strange the way we met
    A desert road and then
My car had stopped and you pulled off
    On your black motorcycle
You rode me to the bar
    We danced all night under
The Christmas lights and the dark black night
With the lightning and the thunder

    (Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah, ah, ah) x2

    Hey, stranger
    My strange love
    Would you be mine?
Am I what you're dreaming of?
    Hey, stranger
    My strange love
    What makes you shine?
What makes you fall in love?

You took me to the edge
Of town, that's where you slept
You liked it best when no one else
Could find you or could bother
You poured us mint juleps [?]
    And kissed me the lips
You held me tight in the TV light
And you said you never loved her

    (Ah-ah, ah-ah, ah, ah, ah) x2

You have a dark heart, like mine
Things that you've seen in dark time
Let me love you, let me touch you
Let me show you you'll be fine

    Hey, stranger
    My strange love
    Would you be mine?
Am I what you're dreaming of?
    Hey, stranger
    My strange love
    What makes you shine?
What makes you fall in love?

They all know my name now
It's just another lonely day on the playground

    Okay, let's go
    One, two, three, four

No, I'm not vintage, no, I don't care
No, I'm not Kylie, no, you can't compare me
To another one, there's no one else
    I'm nobody, I'm just myself
It's not Fight Club, I'm a rare snowflake
But if I hear you bringing me down, calling me so fake
I will fight you (yes), I will fight you (yes)
Because in the end, there's only truth
And God is gonna smite you
Besides that, I don't like you

I just wanna party, boy, I don't wanna fight
But everybody knows that that's the way it is
    Only players can survive

They all know my name now
It's just another lonely day on the playground
    (Only players can survive)
    Rain, rain, go away, now
Come again another day in the game now
    (Only players can survive)

No, I'm not retro, no, I'm not fair
Yes, I like to read in golden heels and underwear
And it's not Scarface, 'cause I'mma live forever
If I hear from anyone you're trying to get too clever
Then I will fight you, I will win
I will rise again, soar in the wind
It's my destiny, the way my life begins
So if you're in my way, I'll knock you down like kingpin

I just wanna party, boy, I don't wanna fight
But everybody knows that that's the way it is
    Only players can survive

They all know my name now
It's just another lonely day on the playground
    (Only players can survive)
    Rain, rain, go away, now
Come again another day in the game now
    (Only players can survive)

    Ring around the rosie, oh
    I don't wanna fall down
Keep my feet on the ground
    Pocket full of nursery rhymes
    I'm just biding my time
    Biding my lines

I'm wearing the invisible crown, you can't see it yet
Touring up in here in the town, a soul singer, yes
Sometimes I rap, too, I'm a white girl
But the world is my oyster, I'm a little pearl, yep

They all know my name now
It's just another lonely day on the playground
    Rain, rain go away, now
Come again another day in the game now

    Ring around the rosie, oh
    I don't wanna fall down
Keep my feet on the ground
    Pocket full of nursery rhymes
    I'm just biding my time
    Biding my lines
