Nobody should be surprised that she is doing interviews over e-mail. There is a pre-BTD interview where the journalist just slams Lana's music and image and she clearly gets frustrated. Also - look at the Guardian interviewer. Lana invited him to her home and allegedly the writer had malicious intentions. Either way, journalists haven't been particularly nice to Lana or even want to talk about her music. It's always some strange question, trying to call her out on a lie. The majority of interviews Lana participates in are misogynistic ramblings that a woman is too sad, too pretty, inauthentic. Not many "journalists" are actually intent on writing a solid story. Maybe because she doesn't have fireworks shooting out of her tits As for Lana's promo, yeah. It has sucked. The BBC radio was great. One time I saw a commercial on youtube! Great work, Interscope! I'm not convinced that Interscope is very interested in LDR at this point. I'm wondering if the record company won't be funneling money into promo like BTD got because she only has one record left under them, or something. We'll never know, but this has happened to other female alt. artists

I don't mind the soft grunge line. I found it to be corny at first, but somehow it grew on me. I guess because there is such debate as to which genre her music belongs to. She's too pop to be rock and too alternative to be played on the radio. Although campy, her made-up genres are somewhat interesting ( Narco Swing is my favorite along with Hollywood Sadcore)

Rick is one of Lanas most consistent collaborators, in terms of quality of cowriting lyrics and production, so I think we will all be pleasantly surprised

Just saying -- it would be weird to take on the social stigma (especially being that her career is based on public-image to an extent) of being a recreational drug user if you've never been one. It is labeled as a deviant behavior and I doubt many sober people would find getting high as appealing or glamorize it as Lana has. She has publicly talked about struggling with alcoholism and it seems likely that she has struggled with depression, so it is not a stretch to think that she has ever used recreational drugs. Disregarding the fact, of course, that she references herself using drugs throughout her entire catalog, released and unreleased.

I can understand why she performs her usual tracks on tour. Most of her $$$ comes from touring and she wants the audience to hear songs that are familiar. I am just surprised that her team has put in zero effort to hype....anything. Brings me back to National Anthem (Could have been a summertime smash, but no promo killed the momentum, at least her video got her some press coverage). No physical singles, no single b-sides, no remixes, another low-budget minimal effort video. I mean damn, she won't even do a late-night performance of ONE song. Can't blame her with how US media treats her, but the least her PR team could do is get some positive press going. They fucked up during the UV era. God damn, Lana, fire the people!

Hmm. There are songs that she uses drugs as metaphors, definitely. However there are songs in which Lana explicitly says that she has used/uses various drugs. Amphetamines, as in Adderal. probably. She has mentioned pills in songs. Ecstacy and weed, yes. probably. I wouldn't be surprised if she did a bit of speed here and there. There are definitely times during the Born To Die era that she is on something.....that didn't seem like weed, coke, or being drunk. She seems to have been with men that enjoy their hard-drugs, it wouldn't be surprising if she tried speed or something with one of them. In conclusion.....I want to take hella pills w/ Lana
