On the collaboration process for Ultraviolence:
“Meeting [producer/Black Keys frontman] Dan Auerbach changed everything. He really brought fun back into my life. We had a natural chemistry between us that was kind of palpable and he was spontaneous. We’d go into the studio with the band and do one cut of Ultraviolence—raw and live with all seven players in the same room with an old bedroom microphone—and leave it as it was. It was thrilling.”

    On her current fashion transformation:
“There has been an evolution. It came with the music. I love the idea of being able to get up on stage in my favourite denim shorts and my favourite linen shirt and wear a pair of gold bands and diamonds. It is so freeing. When I first got on stage—four years ago—I felt like what I had to do was put a dress on and be presentable in some way.”

On how her relationship with rocker Barrie-James O’Neill fueled Ultraviolence‘s lyrics:
“I’m a dark character and he very is an even darker character than I am. Trying to get some consistency and some normality within the dynamic of that relationship has been impossible. Songs like “Shades of Blue” came out all that.”

    On what gives her confidence:
“Lately, I’ve sought comfort in one-on-one interactions with people backstage after the shows—spending hours with fans afterwards and drawing energy from that well. People liking what I’m doing on stage is a big ‘fuck you’ to whoever doubted me in the first place.”

Solana Rowe better known by her stage name "SZA" is a singer from New Jersey. Her music to me is reminiscent of a FKA twigs type artist, electronicy popish sound with R&B vibes. She brought out her 3rd EP "Z" in april. After listening to the EP I realised some of the songs featured on it were heavily sampled with songs from Born to Die (the album), and on further investigation I found out Emile Haynie produced three songs on it (Shattered Ring, Green Mile and Omega). Listen down bellow. Anyway check her out I think she's pretty funky.

    (Shattered Ring [blue Jeans sample])

    (Green Mile [TIWMUG sample])

I think this is my favourite song on this EP (Marvin Gaye sample)

Wow, yeah I love them. They were my favourites before Lana. I really like black holes & revelations, resistance and absolution the most, but I do like most of their stuff despite some of it being really weird. I didn't really like 2nd law until  saw the songs live, they are so amazing and theatrical and ugh I'll stop now but yeah, the best.

Ladies and gentlemen of the Lanaboards: My name is TIARNZUS. I stand before you to proclaim tonight: Lanaboards is the land where dreams can come true for all of us.
As I stand before the Lanaboards people and think of the honour this great forum has bestowed upon me, I recall the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., who made Lanaboards stronger by making Lanaboards more free.
He said: "Occasionally in life there are moments which cannot be completely explained by words. Their meaning can only be articulated by the inaudible language of the heart."
Tonight is such a moment for me.
My heart is filled with pride.
My fellow citizens, I proudly accept your nomination for Augusts Member of the Month.

    Thank you!

So I decided go through the entertainment section of LB and I was surprised that there wasn't a thread for the amazing band Muse so lel I took it upon myself to start the topic

I was wondering if anybody here stans/likes them. I discovered them during the risistance era which funnily enough along withe second law era I'm not so keen on. My favourite albums have to be origin of symmetry and absolution. There rock masterpieces IMO. There fantastic live and Dom Howard the drummer is a babe. He's smile is so cute and dorky lel

@@BrooklynnBabyy vent into a status update or a blog post. No need to make a thread for something that literally only you and 2 other people feel. Maybe you can spend more time engaging in the forum elsewhere instead of making your first presence here a negative one.

And Lorde can dislike Lana if she wants to.

How about you don't start a thread about an artist you don't like hoping others will bash her with you. People need to get over the fact some people just don't like Lana or her music and move on with their lives! There's no need to post a video saying Lorde copied her, hasn't Royals allegedly copied like every Lana song in existence? So stupid. The second someone isn't up Lana's ass people feel the need to say shit about that person. Oh my fucking god who caaaares if Lorde doesn't like Lana  (even though Lorde has said she does like her)
  16. my ol man isa batman liked a post in a topic by Atom Heart in Lorde
Wow, I don't know whether or not you are trolling but
    1. We have a Lorde thread in the Entertainment section, post there.
    2. You are bashing an artist that is liked by many people on this forum.
    3. Lorde is a fan of Lana, she just doesn't like the whole "daddy complex" that Lana has developed over time.
    4. Royals was a social commentary song, it is supposed to remind you of Lana and the hip hop group Maybach Music Group, Lorde was denying the opulence portrayed in today's media, and if you find that offensive then you need to check your priorities.

    I'm out.

I like the concept of Lana wearing a wedding dress in some kind of noir movie. It give us that Virgin Suicides look that we all love ( or at least I do). However I'm really concerned the video is all about Lana in a wedding dress doing gifable things and looking sad. Based on the previews there is anything really besides this.

Also a lot of people here still didn't get that Lana is no longer interested in being a pop star ( or at least to be considered one).
For me UV sounds more a natural progression from Aka, it's like BtD and this "Gangster Nancy Sinatra" sound never happened to her.  So it makes sense she's doing this video herself since she's always talking about how things were simpler and this exactly the image she's building this era- no longer the 50's beauty queen, casual looks in her videos and promotional images etc.

this color / texture would have been perfect. burgundy / brown / blood ~ with the same camera that filmed national anthem (in slight grain and high definition). but no, bitch goes and uses a fucking iPhone application

i realize that these are all minor details i'm nit-picking but her visual work has always been equally important as the music from my perspective. lana is a VISUAL artist. this is the woman that searched the depths of youtube for some of the most beautiful (personal) footage i've ever seen; art house compositions inadvertently or haphazardly shot by someone's grandparents in their prime? i'm not sure of all her sources, but the point is -- she has a fantastic eye for detail. she played with palette and lighting effects on iMovie to get the proper 'look' for each and every homemade video she pieced together; i'm talking multiple split-second intervals within a 4 to 5 minute song. i don't see why she's suddenly being lazy (or at least putting out work that visually manifests as such) when she has so many resources at her disposal now. she said herself that she's running out of ideas for videos, and i can see it. since ride, i've been disappointed -- it feels like something's been missing

i actually like the concept of this video; but to me, it isn't beautiful. i feel like she's writing her ideas down on paper instead of making her mood boards or something

You guys really need to simmer the hell down sometimes.

It's a preview and the aesthetic could be perfect for the video's plot. And when did we start expecting Lana to be conventional with glossy, commercial videos? I, for one, love how continually innovative she is with each new video.

Damn it's just a fucking teaser, and we're already shooting the video down. Fuck, at least wait for the actual video to give a full on opinion. For all we know it could switch in between HD & home video quality.. The negativity is appalling.

i'm not talking about the grain or the imagery really; the color just seems too 'sunny' and light. it worked perfectly for summer wine, but this song (and every other song on the album) is darker? she always talks about being inspired by a single color, etc. i don't get how ultraviolence matches with this tone? with this time of day? should be kind of burgundy, amethyst, or black and white, even -- something other than yellow

eh i guess its relatively close to the second image, although it isn't quite as brown or ~bloody. the filter she's using reminds me of pus
