I think the title of this thread is the most quintessential type of Lana sighting there is

When I say “bop” I mean OTTR/National Anthem, Diet Mountain Dew, Doin’ Time, HBTB, and Jimmy. Even Without You, a piano ballad, has SO much added production that it feels almost like a bop.
I do think her albums have ‘bops’ (FIILY, TJF, Peppers, Taco truck) but they’re more chill bops, and while I absolutely can get down to them, its pretty clear they aren’t the traditional definition of ‘bop’.
Cinnamon Girl with Doin’ Time energy would have serveddd. That last minute of CG is so insanely good I have no idea why it was just an outro.
I think we’ll absolutely get more Lana chill bops!
I think a country song with Doin Time energy would be a SERVE, but like I said, I think it’s silly to expect that because Jimmy was 5 years old and she didn’t even want to include it in the album, so that’s not what she gravitates towards releasing

I lowkey want Lana to channel the country rock vibes found on “Bad Things” by Jace Everett aka the True Blood theme song

Track 20
It's always the final song from every Lana's album for me

To me, a « Lana bop » is a song that could get radio airplay, with some chill beats, or that could please her fans because it contains somewhat some of the « old Lana ». Agree with you that Peppers is a bop, TJF is kinda one (sure is underrated with the GP), but to me, the « bop » (very loosely here) on BB might be Dealer: not that it’s a light song, but the lyrics are very UV.
Say Yes to Heaven is a nice pop song and bop-ish too.
But my fave Lana bops are her summery tracks with a memorable melody and we need one of those

I think part of a problem for me is that it feels more like a late fall/winter album. Right now I wanna listen to some light pop bops or folk, so this just doesn't work during spring season.
Maybe it will finally click later this year.

I think it’s a fantastical record. The absolute chaos reigning in the songs is a very good vehicle for this nihilistic uncertainty I’ve been feeling. The feeling of wanting to cry but not sure why, the feeling of secretly wishing it would all just collapse, the feeling that something bigger is just always right around the corner. The SOPHIE nod serves almost like a folktale , something only told of legends. Preluding this moment with The Powers Out and subsequently Following the track with So Many Planets is just the key I think a lot of people are missing to unlock that concept. It’s not wrong to grieve a moment for the culture. Sweetest Fruit literally checks every stage of grief for me. I want to cry I want to dance. I want to be happy I existed and witnessed a way of life that has never been possible before. The Powers Out might be my SOTY already… it’s just amazing. I get CHILLS. I can’t explain but sometimes an artist just makes THAT song…. The last time I felt this way about a St Vincent song was Hang On Me. I love her big ass all or nothing type songs.
TL;DR this album is like walking through streets of mayhem with a pair of earphones on and a smile on your face
my literal only gripe is that there are never enough songs on her records for me

Never liked her music for some reason but damn, only 4 tracks in and it's shaping up to be one of my fave albums this year.

Now breaking up slowly is an acquired taste but there are definitely many unrecognized 'bops' on cotcc and bb

I have no problem with Jack working with Lana so far. They do bring another vibe to the songs they’re doing together that is unmatched with his other girlies. NFR, Violet and OB have incredible gems (OB had the genius concept of having piano samples - which aren’t always Jack’s best suite IMO - and build production around it, which made the tracks so rich and complex). I still love Chemtrails even if some songs do sound like a couple of Lorde tracks…
So, as long as Lana’s ideas aren’t anything like what the other girlies are doing, I’m on board with Jack being a producer.

Incredible record, I can’t wait to further sit with it today. Hell Is Near, Reckless, Violent Times (!!), The Power’s Out, and All Born Screaming are my favorites so far, aside from the singles.
