For real. These comments are getting ridiculous. Amber Rose also gets hate comments from people claiming her son doesn't have enough black friends whenever she's posted videos of him playing with white or latino kids.

There's always going to be some criticism no matter the situation. Don't have enough friends of a different race? You're probably racist. Have a few friends of a different race? You're probably only using them as tokens/props. Have more friends of a different race than your own? Cultural appropriation or fetishization, internalized racism, wannabe. I don't really talk to white, black, south asian, or middle eastern in my personal life because simply there aren't many of them in the area where I live. It's mostly Latinos and East/Southeast Asians here, therefor of course it's going to be the majority of the people I communicate with.

I'm unsure how serious you're being but you can't assume people's ethnicities - while people look 'white' in their photos she might have black friends who are white passing or are CALD. If you think that she is simply having a person of colour in her friend group to patch up the global backlash, then you might need to ask yourself what kind of discourse you're trying to find and what does it say about you if you think diversity solely sits with skin colour. Lana hasn't personally posted this content (at least not on any of the channels I can see) - so who exactly do you think she is trying to impress if it's not even coming from her?

Also, Lana has black friends, off the top of my head the most prominent is that we know she highly values both her professional and personal relationship with her dancers Alex and Ashley (who are at this party in the photos). It wasn't tokenistic when she made that (awful) NFR trilogy video and that (pointless) album cover which were not well received because it was just her bumbling around laughing with her friends - do you think she also made that just to prove she wasn't racist?

How do you know she doesn't hang out with black people? Let's also consider the next set of problems - do you know the personal situations behind all her friends? You mention that black people are never at these parties - but who is organising all these get-togethers? Have all her friends been free all the time or invited? Are some people respecting social distancing properly and more than her? Do her friends all live in the same place? Does she have the same ratio of black and white friends? Have people been photographing all her hang-outs? Like . . . what are you even saying?

TL;DR - skin colour is an important element of diversity and representation, but if it's considered the only thing then you're actually being tokenistic also.

saying listening to btd or any other work of art is gonna make u want to be kidnapped at age 14 or smth like that is an incredibly weird approach of trying to explain someone wanting that for themselves.
people who say that (twitter) pretend as if they (meaning the people on twitter) have no accountability for anything ever, they’re not gullible for anything, they’re pulling a neo-freudian explanation of life and psychological phenomenas but instead of blaming the parents they’re blaming a piece of media/celebrities this time.

That's fair criticism I think, not everyone has good parenting exemple and some younger fans were/are indeed impressionable by all of that, but to say that listening to Lana Del Rey makes or made you want to have a sugar daddy is a bit far fetched in my honest opinion (or in that specific context made one think that pedophilia was actually acceptable, it was a poor joke she retweeted and I think that's the end of it really). But that was not my experience with her music when I first started listening to her in 2012.

There's a difference between listening to Lana from that time period and understanding that this is all a persona she was portraying through her music and visuals and growing personal issues from that I think. Was it problematic? Absolutely. But a persona or highly fictional perspective nonetheless. I personally can't really relate to that, but I know there are probably fans out there that thought all of this was acceptable and that's also a valid personal experience. I hope they are doing fine today.

TL;DR: It was questionable and of poor taste for her to retweet that, but I'm sure she grew out of that, and also she wouldn't go back to some of her earlier lyricism. I mean, she doesn't even want to sing 'Ultraviolence' anymore and she cringes on stage singing 'Gods & Monsters', so there's definitely been growth in that regard.

If you are offended by the use of the name 'Lana del Rey' then you may want to consider stopping using the word 'sis' as it was revolutionized and claimed by the queer Black community.

Spanish is a European language and Spanish people are white. Is it really possible for a white person to "appropriate" another white ethnicity? I understand the weirdness of something like a white (or any non-east asian) koreaboo/weaboo giving themselves a totally random Japanese or Korean name, but I'm sure there are native women of Spain who look similar to Lana as they are of the same race.

I never liked how she wore the headdress in the Ride video though. When I first heard of her that was one of the main pictures I remembered  (the screen shot from Ride) and it put me off from her to the point where I almost didn't give her music a chance.

Azealia's beef with Lana wasn't "white feminism. Banks was mainly triggered as a Trump supporter that Lana's rant was anti-Trump.

As a latina, I think this claim that Tropico was exploiting "latino culture" in general is rather silly. The characters in the film were LA cholos and not every latino is a gangbanger. I'm assuming it was part of her Americana schtick and was quite cheesy but so was the film in general.
