how can pop 2 be overrated if no one knows about it.. its just her (second now) most critically acclaimed album but people barely know about it besides her biggest fans so idk how overrated it is

also pop 2 is literally THE highest rated mixtape on rate your music like she is that bitch. You know charli gone eat bone appetit

guys ethel is not slayyyter in 2020, she can't be "cancelled" by having some old ass tweets resurfaced or whatever. she's like... an actual artist. dredging up old comments no matter how "offensive" is not gonna do shit!
 
as far as the abortion comment goes ... who cares??? lol. like even if she is anti abortion (which i dont think she is but whatever) she hasn't made it a STANCE. it is just something she believes in and okay. whatever. who cares about incest? "incest" is also just how humans reproduced for thousands of years. my granddad's parents lived in a small island and had the same surname. that's how most people are.

i'm not even a fan of her music but the response to her is very weird especially considering how no one cares. like ive never sen anyone discuss ethel's "problematic past" besides here or popcirclesjerk on reddit which is a cesspool of looser f words
 
okay she's said some controversial things. okay she had some problematic comments. okay ? i think it's quite clear she is very messed up from her upbringing  so to expect her to be anything but that is weird. she is not faking it she is actually like that and let her be it

she's not an industry plant but she was quite literally whored out by her mother who desperately tried to get her kids to become famous any way she could. she was lucky that billie is somewhat talented/likeable and that finneas is actually a good songwriter.. 
 
also billie is one of the best selling artists of her generation? id say she's good. and it's normal that success declines after a few years especially when you keep churning out the same shit over and over. billie's debut was in like 2017-2018? that's almost 8 years of global fame. for comparison katy perry's peak lasted about 7 years, from 2007 to 2014. 

honestly she does have some really good social commentary songs from the matd era so it’s not like she has suddenly become political. (oh no!, sex yeah, savages etc)
 
she was a very outspoken feminist when she was researching for die life in the TFJ era, and although she undeniably made some reductive comments in regarding some fellow female pop artists, she seemed to realise it came from a place of internalised misogyny and jealousy and we got Electra Heart because of it.
 
I think savages is very on the nose but it feels earnest and in my opinion that’s what’s lacking in the ‘Marina’ era and why the social commentary falls flat, for example in oh no! the lyric is ‘TV taught me how to feel’ not ‘TV taught us how to feel’ and in life is strange she’s using this impersonal language ‘we’re in the future living fast, can never make a moment last’.
 
True and EYL also suffer from this, she’s telling us how we’re feeling out of place rather than telling us she’s actually the one feeling out of place and letting us relate to that. with the poetry book being very personal I hope that reflects in her new album

i honestly wish she never erased that stuff from her discography and incorporated more of it in her Allie X stuff cause ALX was truly amazing IMO. Homebound, Jabberwocky, Mistake, etc....
 
like i understand wanting to move on from waiting for the prize (although its amazing), but the stuff she was making during ALX was so good and IMO soo marketable...
