Welcome to how I'm running things now I can't promise it's permanent but I've been awful for the past two interviews and done them both a month late. But I could never pass the torch on bc y'all love me dig?
Anyway never underestimate LanaBoards' idolization of people different from our young gay majority--it is almost a sure thing that any older member will eventually have their name in lights (and share in the collective resentment towards @@Bekim's sidebar acclaim). longtimeman was a breath of fresh air after all you snarky younguns. Stan his level-headedness and wise presence!

this is really cute but i wish we had separate studio & laptop versions....it's still nice though

It seems to me like she had already recorded some of the song and either A, with the unfinished song decided to record a demo before actually recording the final or B, decided she wanted to change the lyrics after the fact.It kind of reminds me of Daddy Issues/I Was in a Bad Way & Daytona Meth/Party Girl where the same instrumental was used but one was a laptop recording (or both, in the latter)

An alternate version of Kinda Outta Luck

    I was born bad
    But then I met you
You made me nice for a while
    But my dark side's true
You never cared what I did at all
Motel singer or the silver pole
I did what I had to do

Femme fatale, always on the run
Diamonds on my neck, whiskey on my tongue
Before I get back, I gotta get drunk
So get over here, pour me a cold one
Babe he can see that I'm danger
Teetering off of the stage, yeah
    Sparkling in sequins, say hey-yeah
Time to give in to the kindness of strangers

Is it wro-wrong that I think it's kind of fun
When I hit you in the back of the head with a gun
Her daddy's in the trunk of his brand new truck
I really want him back but I'm flat out of luck
Is it wro-wrong that I think it's kind of fun
When I hit you in the back of the head with a gun
Now daddy's in the trunk of his brand new truck
I really want him back but I'm kinda outta luck

    Wrong, I know, killing someone
Gets a little easier after done it once
You know that I'm fine, you know that I'm young
So tell me you're mine, let's get it on

Babe he can see that I'm danger
    Glamorous but I'm deranged, yeah
Dancing on top of the tables
I said it really nice, hey, can you be my saviour?

Is it wro-wrong that I think it's kind of fun
When I hit you in the back of the head with a gun
Her daddy's in the trunk of his brand new truck
I really want him back but I'm flat out of luck
Is it wro-wrong that I think it's kind of fun
When I hit you in the back of the head with a gun
Now daddy's in the trunk of his brand new truck
I really want him back but I'm kinda outta luck

I love you, my little darling
    You, my little darling
    You, my little darling
    You, my little darling

Dancing on top of the tables
Stronger, I wish I was able
Someone spilled blood I'm not capable [?]
I gotta get you back, 'cause I gotta live able

Is it wro-wrong that I think it's kind of fun
When I hit you in the back of the head with a gun
Her daddy's in the trunk of his brand new truck
I really want him back but I'm flat out of luck

awww, no you guys, I loved it. What he said about Lana being so disappointed by life that she had to create her own little world to live in... Thats how I've always read her. All the "K" and "daddies" and "diamonds and pearls" and "motorcycles", its something she's dreamed up. imo

Themes in OTTR and throughout BTD are Lolita-based. Lolita is a novel by Vladimir Nabokov about a teenage girl named Dolores whose stepfather, Humbert, falls in love with. This is where lyrics such as "My old man is a bad man" and the lines "Light of my (interchangeable with "his") life, fire of my ("his") loins" are the first few words of the book, if I'm not mistaken. I haven't read it, but I have heard it's a good book, just controversial.

I went to the public library a few days ago and the translated version of the book is sitting in my purse. I always prefer the original language version, but for some reason I didn't find it a pleasant read. It might be the language barrier, or something, I don't know... I might read the original version after. That's what I did with Gone With The Wind. I feel like I need to have a clear understanding of what I'm reading and if I'm unsure, I kinda give up.

I saw both movies and really liked them, specially the Kubrick one.

To be fair MIAM has stated MANY times that on top of their displeasure with UV's chart performance (which, like most of us, I find silly but at the end if the day they just want Lana to get the success she deserves...there would be no harm in stating that opinion if MIAM wasn't so obnoxious about it) they're not the biggest fan of of UV as an album. I find it just as annoying as you guys but in truth we probably should listen to them every now and then, because when they're not babbling about the dissapointing visual imagery and music videos of this era (Shades Of Cool...'nuff said) they bring up good points. Lana DOES have a record label to satisfy, and if she can't provide the label with what they want then they will drop her in an instant (they clearly had their doubts when she was making UV, but UV's sales as a whole were definitely satisfying, so don't let MIAM get into your head, just because she hasn't had a big radio hit this era doesn't signal a "flop") but seriously if you could just tone it down with all that noise about "UV FLOPPED BTD FOREVA" and instead present reasons for your opinions to create a meaningful disscusion as oppossed to forcing your opinion down everyone's throats as though if they don't agree with you they're wrong people would have no reason to criticise you.

Hopefully Honeymoon can be an era of peace and prosperity in the quaint little fandom of Lana Del Rey. UV is probably my favourite album of all time but people ruined that era with their fights and childishness, I know it's a lot to ask but could we all just be a little more aware and more respectful of each others' opinions? No one wants to be told they're wrong for liking or disliking music, and we should all be more aware of that...but still if all you want to do is complain it would be easier on everyone if you would just leave. Rant over

Elizabeth Grant's debut album Lana Del Ray, also known as Lana Del Ray a.k.a. Lizzy Grant, was released five years ago! The album, released by indie label 5 Points Records, was produced by Grammy winner David Kahne (Paul McCartney, Regina Spektor, Tony Bennett, etc). Lana Del Ray is a sexy, dark and moody combination between indie rock and indie pop with blues, jazz and electronica influences, making it her most diverse record. The first track, "Kill Kill", sets the mood of the whole album — a creepy, melancholic, tropical fantasy with weird lyrics such as "I'm in love with a dying man." Beginning with the indie rock thing, "Queen of the Gas Station" is an up-tempo song about wanting a simple but at the same time romantic relationship. "Oh Say Can You See" is a great proof that Lana Del Rey can sing. The super melancholic, blues-influenced ballad features one of her best vocal performances; you really can feel the pain and loneliness in her voice, especially when she cites one of Nirvana's classics, "Come As You Are". The mid-tempo electronica track "Gramma" is a lyrical masterpiece and its sound is just magical with those accordions and trip hop drums. "For K, Pt. 2" is one of Lana's sexiest songs ever. With a jazzy blues rock production and a marvelous chorus, "For K, Pt. 2" is, clearly, a highlight. "Palm trees in black and white, last thing I saw before I died" may be of the most popular lines between her fans. "Jump" feels powerful and probably cinematic because of that simple yet incredible line. The jazzy "Mermaid Motel" is Lana Del Ray's darkest, sexiest, weirdest, most mysterious and well-produced track. The lyrics are just incredibly exotic and the progressive production makes it even creepier. Truly a masterpiece. "Raise Me Up (Mississippi South)" is an amazing indie rock piece about feeling the power to "talk what you want" and "how you want". After this sonic monster, "Pawn Shop Blues"' first chords take you to a different place — a different side of the artist and the album where everything is just calm, extremely sad or melancholic and sincere, with painful lines such as "It's nice to love and be loved but I'd rather know what God knows." Along with "Mermaid Motel", "Brite Lites" is another super weird song about, probably, breaking up. The most Lolita-inspired song on Lana Del Ray, "Put Me In a Movie" features one of the loveliest melodies and vocal performances, which is just creepy since she's singing "Come on, you know you like little girls." The production is incredible, too. "Smarty" is Lana Del Ray's "Fucked My Way Up to the Top" — sexy, shady and clever, but this one is probably better. The bridge is, without a doubt, an album's highlight. The last song is the fan-favorite "Yayo", a super romantic, sad, cinematic stripped-down ballad with one of her best lyrics ever. Everything about this song is perfect; the emotion in her voice, the atmospheric production, the piano and the amazing "Hello, Heaven" part. "Yayo" defines what Lana Del Rey is — sonically, lyrically and thematically. Surely one of the best masterpieces.

I hope she takes the time that she needs to develop a new sound and to write smart lyrics, to find the right people to collab and record with and I also hope that she knows the music industry well enough by now to figure out which effect her music is going to have on people.

I'm also not a huge fan of the idea that her new album is released right after or in the middle of a tour again. It just messes up everything and everybody is torn between the old and the new era.

As much as I strive for more Lana songs, it is more important to me that they are different, nicely-composed and well-produced.
In my opinion it is almost impossible to find new themes when you're still singing BTD & Paradise songs every night and also have to deal with the UV sound. Since she hasn't performed since October I'm pretty sure that she has enough time to find these new themes. However, it'd be nice if she sat down in the studio after she has experienced the Endless Summer Tour and listens to her new songs again. Maybe she'll also be able to add some influences to the album.

Also the last album was released only 6 months ago, we shouldn't be so thirsty yes we should
