it should cover 100% Nicole material that is out there

she said it was a concept album so I think this interpretation is spot on

she also said on twitter the last song turning into the first song is a snake eating its own tail

I think all of these were very conscious decisions

Anyone notice how the last track fades perfectly into the first track, like it's just a neverending cycle of her madness. A concept

I just hate how you can't be remotely interesting in your lyrics or art anymore without being labelled "problematic" or some shit. It seems that this modern day cancel culture powered by kiddies on tik tok and twitter is going to be the death of artistic expression. It's too black and white. And about the CP thing, that was debunked anyway, but she's made a career out of taking inspiration from a book about incest but that doesn't mean she supports incest. The reposts of blood and gore stuff isn't that weird either. I think when you're an artist you find meaning and symbolism in lot's of different things, no matter how uncomfortable or grotesque it is. Dind't she say that most of the dark topics and imagery were just a reflection of her depression? It's not a reflection of her.

sun bleached flies reminds me of that scene in blue velvet when laura dern is in the car with jeffrey and she is describing her dream of robins being set free

in the ethel cain universe, “preacher’s daughter” is part of a set of a trilogy (she will be writing a novel and making/directing a film for the whole trilogy too!). PD is the last album of the trilogy because she wanted to start with the end. isaiah is man who kidnaps her and ultimately cannibalizes and eats her in strangers (hence the line “if i’m turning in your stomach and im making you feel sick”). we first heard about isaiah in this instagram post.

and also for everyone reading, here is how the story kind of plays out:

Logan (who was first heard about in this article) is the boyfriend she talks about in Western Nights.
Some time between Western Nights and Family Tree, he dies, like in said article above.

Willoughby Tucker is her ex boyfriend that she still loves and is the subject of A House in Nebraska. (beginning my insider era by saying that the PD b-sides coming out this year is completely about him and the title has something to do with him to)

Isaiah is found in the first link above, and they are “connected in a way that they don’t even understand”, (possibly familial) and he kidnaps her during Thoroughfare. The rest of the album is about the moments leading up to her death and her posthumous message to her mother at the end of strangers.

my personal favs out of this bunch are romeos daddy, tongue, half-cocked, and wrestling in dirt pits. they sound so much better

and as a disclaimer, I didn't hack her Soundcloud or anything, just found out how to get higher quality.
these are roughly 320, not entirely sure, but DEFINITELY better than what we had

im so sorry but Blue Banisters is such an awful title it's not fitting for an album at all a song would be fine but in terms of an album title it evokes absolutely nothing, feels oddly mundane, almost sounds cheesy like a title a fake insider would make up ???, and just doesn't give ANYTHING like.... imagine describing something as "the Blue Banisters era"..... no thank u

edit: i almost feel like even something like idk Beside The Blue Banisters or something would be better?? lord idk but pls let her change this title.... pls

even if the bruises are intentional, so what? it's art, she's an artist, it's a form of expression, perhaps she is expressing some sort of trauma?? sevdaliza had a black eye on her album cover, it's ironic how people encourage others to speak up about their traumas yet when it's expressed artistically and visually it's considered "glamorizing"

Some thoughts about producers for Rock Candy Sweet:

Maybe it’s wishful thinking, but I wonder if Blake  and Byron are involved with this record? They have credits on Summertime the Gershwin Version and have been in LA for a while.

We know that Jack is involved again, as per that tweet from that fan who met Lana in Texas, but I also think it’s likely that Lana laid a lot of the material down in the fall of 2020 when she was working on her cover albums, which we know she did with Zach and some of her musician friends/bandmates.

And then the wild card is Mike Dean, who liked Lana’s IG post announcing Blue Banisters. I think that was the only post he liked of hers, and of course, they recently followed each other so that must hint at some sort of collaboration (namely Blue Banisters).

TL;DR: based purely on speculation, an album produced by Jack Antonoff, Zach Dawes, and Mike Dean with additional production/instrumentalist credits by Blake Stranathan, Byron Thomas, and others could very well mean a fiery sound with lots of electric guitar, and maybe a few synths here and there. Probably a subtle country influence with the guitars being steel-pedals but almost Hendrix-inspired in nature, riff-wise, if Blake is playing. And then maybe a harsher beat with some slight hip-hop/percussive influences if Mike Dean is involved.

I'm so glad we have this album to look forward to, i don't know what i'd do without the news of Rock Candy Sweet. I love Chemtrails but it feels so small, like an interlude in her discography. I haven't been gravitating back towards the songs very much so I've been a little sad lately, kinda like "is this it? what now?" - so i'm beyond happy we have this album coming in (hopefully) two months. Even if it doesn't come in June, we know it's coming and that's pretty cool.

I have a feeling this album will be much longer, i'm leaning towards 14 or 15 tracks, i do think it will have 1 or 2 collabs again though, but i think they will be executed really well and Lana will take center stage unlike BUS and For Free. I definitely think we'll get another cover as well, i don't really want one but my heart tells me this album will smack us in the face with surprises. She's on a new path, with a new producer and a new focus. She's fueled by the media and i think they've ignited a spark in her again, to take control and punch back, to be feisty and wild the way she always was. I think Clay has been a great influence in her life as well, i think he reminds her of her old boyfriends, she seems to have a lot of fun with him and it's nice to see.

Rock Candy Sweet is gonna blow us away, watch.

"white hot forever" was originally supposed to be a surprise album so we know she had some material finished for awhile then she dropped QFTC out of nowhere which could've been a subliminal response to her label not letting her release an album with such dark topics cause maybe they felt like it would be backtracking norman's acclaim and that's why cocc ended up being mostly outtakes from past albums. we're gonna get an album of dealers and tulsa jesus freaks

So she has one foot on the dashboard, one hand on the wheel, one foot on the gas, one hand with her phone in it, is focusing on filming and lip syncing while driving through a curvy street

I didn’t find Question for the Culture to be controversial at all, I had read it as I would read any other announcement she has made and didn’t think too much about it. It wasn’t until I went online the next day and saw everybody attacking her that I was more aware of the culture she was referring to and I think the public’s reaction and them turning it into a race war just proved the point she was making.

Her listing those women in the admiring way she did was to say “look at these women who sing about the same stuff that I do, but are seen as empowering figures in the feminist community, whereas I am seen as archaic in my beliefs that allegedly set women back hundreds of years.”  I get that fans say they’re “traumatized” by her posting that because it’s never fun to watch someone you care about be berated by the masses, but I think that kind of indirectly trivializes the things that Lana was saying and contributes to the erasure of inclusivity of women in feminism and perpetuates the narrative that women need to adopt traditionally-masculine characteristics in order to be empowering (and by the way, I’m not saying women who adopt those characteristics are doing so on purpose just to fit a standard of feminism, there are so many more factors besides gender that play into why someone is the way they are). Why can’t women just be the way they are, even if that’s more “fragile” as Lana has identified herself to be, and still be empowering?  I admire her ability to come out and say something like this - something that people may not be able to metabolize in times like these.

I feel like this is a somewhat popular opinion but in any case, yes. To this day I don't know what possessed her.
The neon windbreaker and the font are the deal breakers for the cover, imo, and Jack Nicholson's grandson was simply unnecessary. He doesn't add anything, and the fact that he's wearing black is also annoying because he's just so in-your-face.
I guess I just don't "get" it but it doesn't seem to reflect the music at all. When I think of NFR as an entire body of work, it's a much more tranquil (idk if this is the correct word) than what the cover reflects. The fire in the background is perfect, though.

OMGG so if norman is a different breakdown and that was really vulnerable, etc.. and she wants dealer on the album to make it perfect, chemtrails is probably angry. yup we won again we keep winning always
