  1. This is so so interesting to know the exact writing date of On Our Way and know she was in London at that time and to know that On Our Way was the song that was sent to certain key players to drum up interest for a record deal and that Sony decided not to sign her in 2010. ?
  2. Today marks 10 entire years of being a Lana fan for me. It was instant. I know the exact date because I discovered her through spillitnow.com where the user who made this cover art posted it in a fan art thread and I commented on July 2 2011. I remember the absolute wonder and mystery I would scour obscure corners of the internet looking for more info and photos of this artist. Both of which seemed to be so few and far between – no wikipedia page, I remember the first source I found a lot of Lana content was fuckyeahlanadelrey.tumblr.com, the first fanpage. I had never been so fascinated by someone. I was starting to really discover music for myself for the first time and I thought – cool I can really ride for this indie underground artist. That didn't last long This was before Spotify radio which I owe a lot of my musical obsessions to... Lana as been such a vessel for creative output for me for 10 whole years. Her artistry her stubbornness her world she has always so firmly stood in until people were inevitably drawn into it. I really admire her convictions when it comes to her art. I'm so grateful I got to experience her public career trajectory having been so invested from the beginning of it. I know there are a few other members around from that time and it's really funny to me how we've been coexisting in this digital space for 10 years from spillitnow to lanadelrey.fm to lanaboards – which i'm always so surprised at how old actually is.
  3. So many good moments in the latter half. Him talking about the On Our Way music video and confirming it was the first song they wrote together Saying he'd talk to other writers she was working with and they'd complain she was always talking about diamonds and writing about the same things Him forgetting Lorde's name... As it should be Gold

The concert special was so great and joyous. The cinematography was so classic and beautiful she’s such a superstar and entertainer

Well this has made me revisit some of her music at least. Namely In The Zone Her two best singles for me, also her best music videos. The dark vibe and styling in both is so slick

Gimme What I Want's verse melody is pretty similar to elements of the verse here Especially as the first line of the verse is "I can tell that you're into me" delivered exactly the same as Gimme What I Want's "I can tell that you're new to this"
  8. Killing it Talking shit Haters said that Jack should quit Tearin’ it up at the Mariners Apartment Complex

Having so many years of your life stolen from you is something I cannot ever imagine coming close to recovering from. This is such a wildly unsettling heartbreaking and deeply sinister situation. It’s literally akin to torture and mentally breaking a persons spirit and will to live.
  10. all this arguing about the lyrics but the bridge remained largely wrong Most obviously "If hello just means goodbye then baby better walk away" What I hear: Cause if you're on fire, you're on fire Let's keep burning 'til late Baby, keep me up late Honey, if you're on fire, you're on fire Let's keep burning Keep me up late Spare your blame Just do it Just do it, don't wait If hello just means goodbye Then honey better walk away Just do it Just do it, don't wait If hello just means goodbye Then baby better walk away
  11. Can I make you laugh with a smile? is actually a great line for being so simple Reminds me of the seductiveness of Mermaid Motel especially the demo
  12. How do we know the title has changed? I went through a few pages looking for news but it was rambling nonsense as expected

An ice cream marketing campaign has no business being this amazing actually. It's so stylish and the photos are great. The camera work in the video is amazing there's no reason that couldn't be an official video for Gimme What I Want. Probably her most hoarse performance to be honest but visually>>>>

No way! Amazing choices I hope this means Hate Me video will get released
  15. This is without a doubt the worst year for new music in memory so I need this album to be front to back classics. Blue Banisters the song really is amazing

    Lorde

An affirmative day for Lorde haters. This song is very bad and she can't sing!

    Dua Lipa

Nonsensical but hottest she's ever looked major Gwen Stefani in Let Me Blow Ya Mind vibes
  18. In this interview from 2010! https://www.repeatfanzine.co.uk/interviews/Lana Del Rey.htm One of my favourite pre-fame relics... She also posted this one to her facebook once: London - Third Eye Blind
  19. Nice idea! Milk is the Kings of Leon song she mentioned in particular others from the Mulberry mixtape: It's Alright Ma - Bob Dylan Heartbreak Hotel - Elvis From her "Sex on Ice" playlist Gangster's Paradise - Coolio Some Velvet Morning - Lee Hazlewood & Nancy Sinatra Baby One More Time - Britney Spears So Rich So Pretty - Mickey Avalon Once Upon A Time In The West - Ennio Morricone Lolita - Lana Del Rey Some others that she has mentioned Yayo - Lana Del Rey Garden Grove - Sublime
  20. I made this edit for the 10th anniversary of Born This Way been playing it all morning a lot of it still holds up. I love Hair even more today because I can really hear the Bruce Springsteen Born In The USA era influences and Billy Joel/Elton John vibe she is channelling in You And I
  21. I also think it’s no coincidence that Mother’s Day is in May May is the new July fr in her lyrics
  22. I think she really sounds like Kate Bush in the Wildflower Wildfire chorus
  23. Point 1 yes point 2 I’m not so hopeful about... or if it does if it’ll be for the riiiiiiiiiiiiight reasons ?
  24. I don’t mean to deliberately put down her earlier work in order to elevate her current output but just anecdotally hearing those two songs back to back was really jarring, especially as I don’t ever revisit TIWMUG and it got me thinking how Lana could have so easily been a relic of the tumblr era and it made me appreciate even more how she has deviated so far and so unflinchingly into her own lane and it was just polarising hearing something that sounded to me very dated next to something that will clearly stand the test of time
  25. It’s amazing I can’t think of a stronger linear progression of an artist than Lana. With each release—especially since NFR!—she has really been all about becoming a whole lot more off beat, disregarding structure, less editing in lyrics, more honest and direct in themes and ideas. The songs require so many repeat listens to really grasp. I was just listening to This Is What Makes Us Girls and Hope is a dangerous thing... back to back earlier this week and was like wow It went from cringe to legendary
