The video was just OK for me, some nice shots, great to have more of the UV footage. Lana looks stunning, especially when she smiles.
 
But there's a really fine line between super slo-mo being meaningful and it being "fuuuuck we have to stretch this footage out".
I mean, nice foot/leg and all, but do we really need 20 slow seconds of it?
 
On a more positive note, it's generating pretty enthusiastic responses from many 'serious music sites'. Stereogum has a wonderful long essay about LDR and FJM - really worth reading if you have the time.

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, or if it's already been posted, but Lana may have been hanging out with Norman Reedus for his upcoming motorcycle show. Perhaps we'll get some nice interview stuff?

i like it. i liked 'boys' too, granted its just a montage glamour video, but it works. i think the videos this era have been perfectly fine. not up there with btd videos or whatever but they certainly haven't been anywhere near awful.

Lana just announced a Freak music video is coming soon starring Father John Misty and the girls from the MTWBT MV! She posted the announcement on Instagram along with 2 photos. It was announced, along with a new photo, that it would be premiering in front of an audience on February 9th, at the Wiltern on Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles. The video will be put on VEVO a few hours after the live premiere.

I love these "feminists" who do nothing other than criticize other women and point out how "inferior" they are and see nothing misogynistic about it. I mean what are Kim Gordon's thoughts on all the sexist male celebrities out there who actively benefit from what they promote? Usually when I see a self-hating woman, yeah I find them annoying as fuck and I really hate being around them, but at the same time I feel sorry for them and realize that they've bought into all the shit that they've been fed by society. Especially when they're doing it out of cluelessness instead of being aware of the fact that they're fucked up and still promoting sexist bullshit (see: all the women on FOX news who talk about how women should stay in the kitchen while ironically having professional jobs on television). Even if what she said about Lana was right, she should realize that Lana isn't doing it because she has an agenda and more because Lana has never thought about these subjects that deeply. I mean Lana herself has said that she's not educated on the subject of feminism.

i remember when I was 5 and vinyls came out.  Out of all musicians that have music on records.., Lana is the best 
her haunting voice and velvet vocals can only but wow me. Very few artist can do that to me as I don't like music much anyways

Music from the 1840s is not like today's but I can tell you Lana is one of the greats like John Elton. Speaking about Elton, Lana should definitely collaborate with him on a small concert. I feel the same way. Even though Ultraviolence was a darker album as a whole, for the most part, I think she was fucking around with people's perceptions of her and just embodying the persona of a gold digger, a mistress, sleeping around to get to the top, etc. The emotional songs on Honeymoon--The Blackest Day, God Knows I Tried, Terrence Loves You--feel more earnest and you feel that she's singing about her real heartbreak.

The Blackest Day would make an incredible Ride-esque video, it's got a clear narrative and some striking imagery, as well as being just a beautiful song.
 
Don't know if this has been discussed before, but the backing vocals after "ever since my baby went away" sound like a Greek tragedy/Greek chorus. Like wailing women or something. Am I crazy? Reminds me, in a vague way, of Madonna's Frozen video and the three witch-like Madonnas.

Wow I actually had no idea at all who Daniel Johnston is so I looked into it and this documentary actually seems so extremely interesting and like... Human maybe I don't know, it touches my sensibility as a creative person, I'm definitely going to look into his music and I'm really excited to see the movie, hope they pass it in London. Lord knows how much and how different the ways are I love Lana but I really adore how it goes further than just her, the artists and things I've discovered through her are moving and changing things constantly around and inside me and transforming my life while she stays the main focus, she made me discover things I never would have knew without her because she's so different from all the rest of what I love and I'm so grateful for that. I'm so so so happy she showed up at the première, I love when she cares a lot about something. Really eager to see how it goes and to hear the song
