Dean Reid posted this about the song! He mentioned using the “famous Capitol Records reverb chamber” so perhaps that’s another reason why Lana was pictured outside the Capitol Records building back in September in her tweet about the covers album  x
 

The other version is probably the OG WCE. I'm leaning towards my theory from yesterday that WCE was produced by Drew Erickson and was meant to be on BB. When she gave up this song to Euphoria, Nasri added more production. That's why the other version is even more stripped down.

At this point, it's more likely than not that there's two versions of Watercolor Eyes. It's not unlike Lana to change songs right before they're released

The Greatest is not one of my favorites but I see what people like about it.

i don't even know if lana has 1 objectively best song, she has too many great songs, it's just too hard to say there's just 1 when there's like dozens of songs which could be her objective best  

i don't even like the song all that much, but i think it's a little strange to say that anybody who seriously loves this song the most out of all of her recent releases is crazy & has "delusions of grandeur" (which doesn't even make any sense?) just let people like the song if they want to, maybe you don't agree that it's better than some of her releases, i think it's a pretty boring song myself, but if people like it, just allow them to enjoy it, they aren't hurting you in anyway by loving the song & it doesn't mean your personal opinion is any less valid

Thanks. I also love 'The Greatest' a good deal. I think for all of us, it's a matter of what songs touch us the most--and keep touching us, as well as their sound. It's such a private | personal matter, you can't let your friends opinions influence you, or their harsh words, or, in some cases, herd mentality. 
 
I don't rank anyone's songs, unless it's just for fun, to pass the time, and clarify one's thoughts and opinions. 

The only songs of Lana's that I would objectively consider her best would be Heroin and/or Hope. I honestly struggle to rank her songs by objectivity because she's done so many different styles and sounds throughout her career. It really all comes down to personal taste 

lana fans hate everything then get mad if every other single fan doesn't have the exact same opinion as them.  some of us can just enjoy things and be happy.  it doesn't mean we're uncritical idiots who can't be trusted to have opinions. if you don't vibe with one of her releases, you can share that without acting like you're better than people who do enjoy it.  this happens with every song, every album, every video, everything. i get it, some of you are never happy and maybe you take it personally when people don't have the same criticisms as you.  i hate how everything is becoming like this like everyone has to have the exact same opinions on every single thing in existence or they're branded as idiots or villains.  like get over yourselves and go fly a kite.

I'm glad you're enjoying it that much. I think it's a minor Lana song, as I stated, at least it is for me, but that's okay. I'm still enjoying it for what I find it to be. Yesterday was my birthday, so it was a nice treat. 
 
People extrapolated too much from the snippet, thinking it was going to be something that would fit comfortably on 'Honeymoon.' I used to do that too, but have learned not to after both 'HIAB' and the 'Blue Banisters' title track, and the 'Season of the Witch' cover, which didn't work for me. 
 
 

I think the "this is her best song ever" crowd is pretty small though, most people who love the song aren't saying that. And if they do think it's her best song ever, then it just means that it's speaking to them personally right now. It's obviously not objectively her best song ever (Venice Bitch) but if someone loves it that much at the moment, I think it's sweet (like rock candy) that it's impacting them so strongly.
