But HFK was also a Very Bad Album after a Great One tbh. It’s so bland and dull compared to Badlands and Room 93

For me personally, nothing from her has really topped her first album Badlands. From that album I’d recommend Roman Holiday, Haunting, Drive, Colors, and Hold Me Down, though the whole album (especially the deluxe edition) is pretty good. All of Room 93’s pretty solid too. From hfk I’d recommend Heaven in Hiding, 100 Letters, Hopeless, and Sorry

Overall the movie is actually pretty cute. Not a blockbuster, but for an artist making their first movie, definitly a cool thing to have (and as a fan to see). It's like she said a quite fun, campy movie, which actually feels sometimes more like a long music video. The plot is sometimes not very clear and there are some unreasonable jumps to other scenes.
For example, Strawberry Shortcake and High School Sweethearts are like a seperate music video. They don't add much to the plot and don't really show some other relevant details.
There is definitly society critic here and there, sometimes even a bit too much, too obvious or too random. Otherwise there are a lot of very cool choreographies and beautiful asthetics and jokes that lets you smirk.
If i had to rate it, i would give it a 7/10.

I don't know, but it would seem weird if YouTube Music advertised K-12 with "Album + Film" on the times square I think and it won't be uploaded to youtube

Blue Lips is basically the second half of Lady Wood, so I'd listen to that next.
My album ranking: Lady Wood > Queen of the Clouds (Blueprint Edition) > Blue Lips

You know, this thread is really depressing because of shit like this. It’s really one thing to dislike something, but it’s another to kill the hype or enjoyment for others when all they want when they visit this thread is to have productive discussions about Marina’s work or get news about the tour or just fuck around and laugh. I’ve lost the hype concerning Lana, but I’m not going to be dragging others down by constantly saying “the NFR promo is bad” and telling people to “get over it.” I think it’s been done 295710 times enough and if someone’s happy at this point that we’re getting anything at all, then that’s fine.
And you know what? Cool if any of you respond to the posts I just made, but I’m not going to respond because I can already predict it’ll be a repeat of what you already said. I’m just done with this thread.

That we don't like a fake-woke, fake-deep, cheaply-produced, poorly-written, badly-executed record that shows no advancement in her career, let alone artistic development, that goes beyond having nice vocals, something that has never been a selling-point for Marina?
Mmm, here's the thing about this quote though that you're referencing. I think we went over it many pages ago how some of us really don't get those faux-vibes concerning her lyrics. I used a comparison to Lana as an example- the reason why I believe Marina over Lana concerning political lyrics is because Marina is consistent with what her stances are. She's been open about her thoughts concerning politics and questions about human nature in interviews, whereas Lana is still wishy-washy when serious topics are brought up. Cheaply-produced? I mean I can hear how she's influenced by the sound of Clean Bandit since she's worked with them and is close to them (because of Jack), but just because it sounds more mainstream than her previous work doesn't mean it's cheap. The existence of End of the Earth alone makes me go "???" at this statement. Poorly-written? I mean, I still hear Marina in her lyrics. I believe the person who wrote To Be Human is the same person who wrote Immortal:
I like to think about how we all look from afar
People driving fancy cars look like beetles to the stars
The missiles and the bombs sound like symphonies gone wrong
And if there is a God, they'll know why it's so hard
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But if the Earth ends in fire
And the seas are frozen in time
There'll be just one survivor
The memory that I was yours and you were mine
I believe the same woman who did the unique vocal delivery on the chorus of Homewrecker or Shampain, also experimented with Emotional Machine's and Karma's chorus. And then the whole "shows no advancement in her career"- I mean I'll take the state of mind Marina's currently in now compared to the start of her career as progress in itself. In Numb, she was very candid about her depression, in Fear and Loathing, she wants to break free from it. In Happy, she's trying out new things to get out of that dark place and is trying to find peace. In Soft to Be Strong, she finally discovers how important it is to accept the vulnerable side of yourself, and how it actually brings you strength and peace. I think people are too caught up in how "current" the production sounds, and I get that people probably miss her unique production, but I honestly don't mind the laid-back direction she's taken. I have confidence she still has the passion for it and can write as introspective as she did during the beginning of her career. It just doesn't take away my enjoyment of the album though, because I'm taking it for what it is.

You all act like Marina was this never-seen-before alternative experimental trend-braker machine when she has always released pop songs. Yes, she has amazing deep cuts in her discography but has fun pop songs since the start of her career (example: Hollywood, Shampain)

Honestly even the most pop tracks on this album are still so Marina to me.

godless is such a gem.. i know some people had their doubts about this album based on the singles (i can see why that would be the case), but honestly i had/have a lot of faith in her and from giving the early reviews a read i can tell this album is gonna be right up my alley. the anticipation is killing me, hurry up friday!!!

tired of every1 shitting on l+f. you dont have to like it but why do so many people feel like they have to focus on the negatives of the album instead of the positives??? i had to unsave the album from spotify cuz i just got so exhausted of everyone discussing its shortcomings and i couldnt enjoy it anymore. it's my least fave marina album, but its not garbage just cuz u dont like it!!! surely the joy u get out of shitting on something over & over again must get less and less satisfying each time
ps stream end of the earth!!!

I've warmed up a lot to L+F. Its catchy feel-good pop which is not what Marina has given us before, but it still resonates with me more than what most other artists that put out music like this bring to the table. I've found that while I love Marina for her dark depressive music, I do have room in my musical palette for music that is more upbeat and happy, and I am glad that Marina is now an artist I can go to when I am both deeply upset and feeling super positive. I feel like I've grown with her in that way. L+F is a little over the top and cheesy in some places, but she's got plenty of music on the opposite side of the spectrum that is overly dramatic in its sadness. I think it is just easier to criticize happy music because its less risk for the artist rather than when they pour out the dark spaces in their souls. As a writer myself, I can also attest that it is so much harder to make not-corny happy music than it seems.
