This sounds a lot like Dean Martin's 'Everybody Loves Somebody' and I adore that song. (& hints of 'Wait for Life')

I posted this in the pre release thread but I'm posting again because they're going to forget about the video in the next two hours tbh

The sliding off the Hollywood sign part got me a little disturbed tbh and it seemed a little odd that Lana would give Lust For Life a suicide theme, specially after saying over and over again she's in a happy place now, that this is an album for the fans, that this is supposed to give a hopeful message to the world, specially after releasing Love (and its video) and Coachella - Woodstock In My Mind so,

I think that at first it seems like they suicide and end up in the flower camp, but I think the "I told you twice in our love letter, there's no stopping now, green lights forever" is about that nothing can stop the both of them, not even death, because their Lust For Life is so strong and big it keeps them alive

I think the message is that even when you feel like when you're going down in to the abyss and ending it all

if you have Lust For Life you can make it through into a better world

and of course, the peace sign

    Beautiful video

I absolutely loved it-- to me, this perfectly embodies Lana's concept of "retro sensibility, with a futuristic flair." Both the more literal callbacks (Lana's outfit, the TV performance-esque setup at the beginning, plus backup dancers) and the more subtle (the sweetness and simplicity, the peace sign imagery) really hearken back to the sixties, while keeping a grip on Lana's current message of hope and stability in today's world.

I also appreciated the connecting sequence to Love-- my theory, like others that've posted here, is that the Love video is what's taking place in her mind as she's performing in the LFL video, ostensibly for TV. I think she and Abel represent almost god-like characters (I don't feel that they're dead, necessarily), and their jump off the sign is not suicide, but descending "down to Earth" to bring their message to the youth of America. It's almost a Ziggy Stardust-type setup, imo-- an alien/supernatural singer comes to Earth to spread a message of peace and love to a troubled and receptive group of young people. I really like the concept, and I'm enjoying seeing how the various themes Lana's presented thus far (1960s, witchcraft, peace/love, space) are tying together.

All in all, I think it's a very lovely treatment, and it's really made me appreciate the song and era more. I'm finally, officially excited for what's to come!

(also, I think it's too common for people today to claim things are "cringey" just because they're whimsical, silly, or fun-- you're welcome to your opinion, but I find little touches like the ribbon boat to be really cute. There's nothing wrong with having a little bit of wonder, and nothing wrong with Lana doing something lighthearted and sweet, even if it borders on childish, imo. We could all use some lightening up, I think )

Aaaaand we're back again with Lana's dead ex bf who she writes all her songs about. A throwback to BtD, Blue Jeans, Tropico, West Coast, SoC etc

Does anyone else feel like Lana's choreography, and backup singer/dancers just feel awkward?  Lana moves likes she's embarrassed.  Wish she would just go back to standing there.  It felt more honest.

Isn't life crazy now that I'm singing with Sean?

    ^^ is that line legit?

I wish the lyric was "John and Yoko" Instead of "Lennon and Yoko" because technically Yoko's last name is Lennon as well. I know it's a weird thing to care about, but it just bothers me. I'm extremely excited for the song tho.

I hope these photos don't make some of you really want to purge and starve yourselves. Be healthy. Purging and starving yourself isn't healthy. A healthy balance of protein, veggies with some fruit and grains and dairy (for those who can have it) are a great way to get to a healthy weight. It takes time to create that habit, so don't be upset if you don't get the results you want. Trust me, I've been there. Seeing photos of people with "ideal" bodies can make you feel less than, and unfortunately that may make you take drastic changes to your diet. Those people most likely had to work on their diets for months, which is probably what Lana has been doing. Sorry for the unasked advice, but I just want to make sure no one does anything harmful to themselves cause I care 4 y'all

Not sure if this is the right thread to place this, but can we discuss the fact that not everything Lana writes in a song needs to have actually happened to her? If her inspirations are Leonard Cohen, Boby Dylan and Joan Baez isn't that a sign that she's not just a songwriter but also a storyteller? I think this is especially true for Sirens since it's the most Cohen / Dylan / Baez album she's written.

Not every song needs to be about a personal experience much like how every book isn't about a personal experience. Do you really think Stephen King went to a small town called Dairy where a clown that comes out every 27 years was killing children? Do you think Lana was an acrobat with 6 husbands (I don't remember exactly what it was, but she said something outrageous like that years ago) Songs have metaphors and made up stories to capture the listener.  Artists create personas to capture their audience. Lana does that well, maybe even too well since some people take everything she says as the gospel truth.

I used to know a guy whose parents named him DM after Depeche Mode. Gentlest soul I ever met.
Fun fact: The Bloodhound Gang started out as a Depeche Mode cover band.

And David Kahne played keyboard on "Love Changes" from that album and produced it.

not sure if anyone has said this bc I haven't been following this thread too much, but if BAR is on the album and the sound of the song hasn't changed too dramatically it could definitely serve as a good transition between the big sound and acoustic side that LFL apparently has

I love the beat of this song. This was a song I wanted so bad to hear from the just the name.... Black Beauty was better, but I like this one second, before JFK. I just wish it would've had more lyrics instead of repeating herself.
