  1. It’s my favorite album to listen to when I’m helplessly depressed. I like heart shaped bed quite a bit but I think I prefer natural born losers ever so slightly. Her earlier stuff is good but I’ve not gotten into it as much.
  2. I know literally nothing about her except the song invisible which I like quite much. This album will be a lil treat

    Grimes

Most curious to see if what we have is really the final versions or demos//unmastered//whatever
  4. I still listen to this album regularly and it’s the crown jewel of 2019 alongside MAGDALENE for me.
  5. American Tradition is one of the best songs of the decade for sure. Not on the most recent record but felt like I should say it anyways. Love her.
  6. that feeling when u finally find your wig and put it back on after Mary Magdalene ripped it from your head only for fallen alien to come in with the “I feel the lightning blast” part and it vaporizes the damn thing off your scalp.
  7. I have to admit, holy terrain has grown on me. I still don’t enjoy future’s part much but the rest is great.
  8. She sounds great on all the duets with guests.

I love that album cover tbh
  10. I wasn’t that stoked after the first 3 songs (cellophane is great and home with you is good but didn’t click for me until recently) but honestly she saved all the best stuff for the album. I love it and I wasn’t even that excited for it.
  11. She performed at Pittsburgh’s pride this year and I was her Bartender for brunch the next day. She must’ve stayed in the hotel my place is connected to and she sat down with 2 others at the bar in the morning. I wasn’t sure at first but she was clearly looking through her phone and commenting on pictures taken the night before and I got to thinking so I confirmed by matching her hand tattoos to pictures online. She was nice. The end.
  12. Mary Magdalene, Fallen Alien, and Sad Day are my top 3, but really the whole thing is beautiful. The only “weak” link is Holy Terrain, and I don’t even dislike it. Just surrounded by everything else it almost sounds too plain. It was clearly the attempt at some sort of mainstream moment but I don’t think the album needed it.
  13. I can't at Sad Day being slept on. Its sounds like something a young Kate Bush would do these days. Its so Running Up that Hill. And that delicate piano sprinkled in there is just... *chefs kiss* I agree its actually a pretty soft song, but still really intense. It might my favorite new song I've heard in a while. edit: ok she does absolutely go off on fallen alien though too, damn edit:edit: It's crazy I wasn't even anticipating this record that greatly for whatever reason but when the snippets came out my interest was piqued. Now hearing the whole thing I think it might truly be my front-runner for album of the year. It's so human where her first almost presented her as something alien. Its like the perfect hybrid of Kate Bush and Bjork.
  14. Facts. It has aged so gracefully and even though it was released a year prior to nearly everything else it is never a skip for me, none of it. I always want to hear the 6+ minutes of California fantasy after the main song is over. People can use whatever else they want to discredit Jack and I won't always disagree with them but he DID produce Venice Bitch which is just fucking perfect. and since im listening right now Ill compliment FiILY because its one of the other perfectly produced tracks on the album. I really dig both versions depending on my mood and it pairs well with Venice Beach because they both capture a similar aesthetic and feeling.
  15. I don’t need the whole thing yet I just need someOne to leak sad day so I don’t wear myself out listening to that snippet
  16. Sad day reignited my flame of excitement for this album. It dwindled a bit but I’m getting serious Kate Bush vibezzz from that snippet.
  17. I think I just ascended listening to insomnia. I love that Ocean of Tears follows it, it really jolts you out of the trance that insomnia puts you in.

    Katy Perry

I don’t hate her or anything but I do hate firework and the fact that that song has tainted the Moulin Rouge musical with its presence might never be forgiven. I also realize this probably was in no way a decision made by Katy Perry. Still though. You get rid of One Day I’ll Fly Away for this shit? No ma’am.
  19. Ugh, I’m so ready to hear the whole thing. The fact that that clash review said So Hot is the most pop makes me excited. I love unconventional shit. I think Look At Me Now might have taken over So Hot as my fav pre album song. It’s so beautiful.
  20. This album is still amazing for me. The only songs I usually have an inclination to skip are Doin’ Time, California, and TNBAR. Love Song, Venice Bitch, and Happiness are the trifecta. When I first heard the album I did hear the mastering issues that everyone has but I’ve gotten used to them and I think this IS her strongest set of songs. How to Disappear is amazing and so is it’s production. She’s writing a letter to someone in New York from Cali. It’s still sunny where she is but it’s winter in New York which is why the sleigh bells feel perfect in the song. The first few times I listened I assumed she was referring to the guy she’s singing about being the one who disappeared but I now realize she is referring to herself disappearing from NY to Cali.
  21. Y’all cannot say it’s not one of the most critically acclaimed albums of the last 10 years just because you aren’t as hard a Stan of it. Yeah it just came out but it’s literally already been thrown super high on on best of the decade lists. They ain’t gonna change the lists. You can say “none of those critics lists matter” till the cows come home, but it’s literally a fact that this is critically acclaimed and considered her best record from a critic standpoint. (I didn’t realize I was in the WHF thread considered everyone seems to be arguing about NFR here for some reason?) Also, piano IS the best instrument on the planet and I will NOT hear it slandered. WHITE HOT FOREVER AS LANAS PIANO ONLY ALBUM I AM HERE FOR IT. How many times must I come to these threads and see everyone trying to invalidate each others opinions instead of discussing them like adults. You’re all children that think you’re “right” so you can’t drop the fact that some people like an album and some people don’t. I’m not referring to one specific side of this argument either. It’s always the same handful of people.
  22. Ocean of tears is my least fav of the songs lol. It’s definitely a banger but it doesn’t get me like the others do. Still good, but my least fav. The new tune is very pretty. So Hot is actually my favorite of the new songs still it’s so damn catchy, followed by parachute, but they are all good.
  23. I wanna hear the snippets so bad. I assume I’ll get em here in the US today??
  24. The album is great. It took me a while to get to it with all of the other stuff that’s come out recently, because I wanted to give it the attention it deserved. Mountains is amazing and the line about Elvis sounded like such a Lana line.
