Mama is coming for critical acclaim with this one wow
-
the real thing we should be figuring out
-
Yeah that was said a while ago I read it around the time I discovered her music, before inbred. I like both artists and I don’t care what Ethel’s thoughts on Lana are, which are clearly not that bad as we’ve discussed she was listening to Lana at some point post saying this. she was likely very young when she said that, and we’ve all said stupid things when we were young.

Treason was incredible listening experience at 1 am v stoned.

So the ticket buying is a total disaster. Shock.

I can’t believe she is coming to Pittsburgh I’m so blessed
-
The songs from the new album are v good indeed

I was talking to my dad about her once and he was like “you mean that one hit wonder girl” and it’s so frustrating when people don’t look past the one thing an artist is well known for to see the absurdly wonderful artistry they have displayed apart from that. That being said he is the same man who thinks of bjork as that angry Icelandic singer who wore a swan dress as a stunt so he can’t be helped.

It’s gorgeous. When that choir comes in the first time it’s euphoric.

Her live vocals have been on POINT so I’m excited to see what she’s laying down in the studio

POLL - What would you want Lana's new announcement to be?

Agree. Ocean Boulevard is great and deserves its time. An AKA release wouldn’t interfere too much so I’d be hoping for that, though tour + unreleased seem more likely. I’ll listen to an unreleased collection from her, but honestly it’s got a lot less appeal to me than AKA. AKA has a mystique to it where the unreleased songs (at least the ones voted for by the masses) are just nice Lana pop songs for the most part. Like Hollywood’s Dead is great and I think a melancholy re-recorded version would be really gorge but she’d never do that and the version that exists just has weird dated production. -
If she calls this era starfucker I am attributing it to Tori Amos and if not her I’m at least attributing to NIN who took it from Tori in the first place.

We love to throw the word *witchy* around here like there’s no tomorrow but I feel like “I inside the old year dying” is actually a nouveau witch classic. also stories from the city stories from the sea is my fav of hers

She cancelled her Pittsburgh show so I shan’t be going to see her now. I’m not pleased.

The vinyl is so friggin gorgeous

You know I gotta applaud all you ladies for keeping this thread the most consistently entertaining read round these parts. Deep salute.

Candy necklace was SO GOOD. -
Drag me for saying this but I feel like MAYBE this release subtly indicates she doesn’t care that much about this song anymore. I enjoy it, and it will probably be the version of this song I listen to most frequently from this moment unto eternity, but it kinda feels incomplete without a bridge, and it’s abbreviated structure feels largely influenced by modern viral music trends. Ocean Boulvard was any thing BUT modern viral music trends so this being so makes me wonder if she’s kinda over it? Which I wouldn’t blame her for considering it’s been leaked and listened to for a while. There’s less of an anticipation for folks 2 hear it because most people who are into her already have. This isn’t to say she’s never cared about it because it’s a very nice song, but ya know.

The reviews are insane. I cannot wait!!

Honestly love it. The behind the scenes aren’t really behind the scenes they were always planned to be part of the music video, ya know? while I get not liking it (that’s totally valid), if it was just Lana looking pretty as these different women the whole meaning of video would be lost.

its meta I like it actually!

Forever mourning the fact that I won’t get to hear the 6 minute long version of nettles. A loss for the culture. forever celebrating everything else that Ethel puts out, tho, for it is all gorge.

I was at work and I missed it
