Lana: "I don't have a plan for the album. Also, I might release the poetry book in the next six months or so. BRB Cha Cha Matcha."

We keep coming back to the friends, so let me rant (again) about the friends. You're welcome.

First of all, people keep saying, "oh we know nothing about them." Not true. They all have social media accounts which are publicly accessible, and it's very clear from those what type of people they are. That tall blonde one turns the camera onto Lana every single time she's videoing. I don't think that that's a coincidence.

Am I saying that they're bad people? No, but one can ascertain things from what they post. You don't have to be a genius to work out that a lot of it is carefully crafted to create an image. That's how some people choose to use social media, and that's their choice, but it makes me wonder if being friends with Lana is, at least partially, part of that carefully crafted image. I hope not.

Lana is obviously very familiar with using social media for professional purposes, but the Instagram baddie resolution was a resolution to essentially use social media to be fake from a personal standpoint. You can see the obvious correlation to her friends there.

Second of all, almost everyone seems to be assuming that Lana has changed - but has she? I mean, as I've said before, she's friends with Courtney. She is (or was - idk about now because of the Kanye IG comment) tight with the Kardashians. One of her current friends was their rep, we know she is/was friends with Kim, and last year she interviewed Kendall and said that Kris Jenner is very grounded. 'K, Lana.

That interview a few pages back, she went on and on about that Alessandro guy, and she's done that in almost every single interview in the past 6 months. Am I saying that Courtney, Kim, Alessandro, etc are bad people? No. But Lana does subscribe to the celebrity lifestyle and she has for a long time. I mean, if you think the Kardashians are grounded ...

    I don't think I had a point; I just thought I'd kill 20 minutes by ranting.

I wonder what it's like to stan an artist who releases music?

    I wouldn't know.

Some of us are contributing to this loss of dignity more so than others. I feel like I'm doing more than my fair share.

I just saw that "ALBUM COMING SOON" was trending on Twitter and Bieber told the audience that during Ariana's Coachella set. I wonder if he'll release three songs, have a false release date, and not tell anyone anything for 7 months? Oh, and is he an Instagram baddie?

Bored af by the NFR thread.

Let's do Lana's songs as haikus. (first line: 5 syllables, second line: 7 syllables, third line: 5 syllables). They're also supposed to be about the weather 'n' shit, but fuck that - just try to capture the essence/theme of the song.

    "Heroin"

    Exceptionally warm
These kids are crazy as fuck
    You shouldn't take drugs

    "Summertime Sadness"

    Unhappy in the heat
Driving far too fast. You're gone
    So I give no fucks

(If nobody joins in, you know I'm gonna do her entire discography ...)

(Feel free to re-do a song someone else does if you have a different take on it ... keeps it interesting. Mine tend to be piss-taking, but yours might not be ...)

    Basically:

    1. Lana declared on NYE that she was going to spend this year living as an Instagram baddie
    2. She has a group of Instagram baddie friends
    3. She and her Instagram baddie friends go to church and Cha Cha Matcha, mostly
    4. She wears activewear now
    5. Norman Fucking Rockwell is possibly a figment of everyone's imaginations
    6. She's publishing a poetry book and selling it for $1, but you can save your $1 and read it all on her Instagram

    That's it. That's the crisis. Especially #5

I’ve been working out every morning at 10am. That was one of my lame little resolutions. Seeing my girlfriends a lot more, cooking in an Instant Pot. Everything’s great, it’s going swimmingly."

"I’m hoping that [the poetry book comes out] in the next six months or so."

This interview was in early March.

Have you guys considered what the music after NFR will be like? We're so preoccupied with it that we haven't really talked about what comes after. I mean, if she's writing songs rn ... I can only imagine ... it'll be all contour kit and soy latte references.

I cannot see how meaningful songwriting can eventuate, but I hope that's just me being narrow-minded.

Also, she never works with females. I know she did the collab with Stevie but that's about it, isn't it? I know it's a male-dominated industry and I'm not saying one gender is better than the other at producing/mixing music, but I'd like her to work with a female on the next album just to see how it sounded.

But she'd probably pick skirtsandsuits and then I'd kms

I don't mind waiting at all, but I do think that the way that it's all been handled is rubbish.

I don't even need a date, but some sort of acknowledgement about the album would be welcomed. The fact that she said it'd be released at the top of the year + the Google March 29 means that many of us had expectations that it would be released then. Neither she, nor anyone associated with her, dismissed the March 29 date ... all that had to be said, really, was "it's not March 29. We don't know when it'll be yet." Is that so difficult? Because I don't think it is.

She built it up by releasing MAC, VB and Hope, and she said it'd be out at the top of the year. That's all she's said. Tweeting that you don't know when it'll be released on an old Twitter account that most people don't even know exists does not count.

It's been purposely orchestrated to keep everyone guessing, and I find that unprofessional, personally. It's OK to say you don't know when it'll be out - but fucking say it. Other artists post shit like, "my song/album will be out on [date]" all the time. I can't think of a single other artist that I like who would handle an upcoming album release in this manner.

Maybe she thinks it's endearing. It's clear that everyone else thinks otherwise. So as I said, it's more how it's been handled, rather than the lack of a date or having to wait.

ETA: and frankly, if her managers haven't privately roasted her for the way she is handling this, then they are bad managers.
