In all honesty, I think Lana is a fantastic writer in her own niche. Overall she's not a great songwriter in the way someone like Sia is, but she's very talented at writing for her own "character". The lyrics are all very specific to the picture of herself that she paints further separating Lana Del Rey from Lizzy Grant. Whether or not some of her fans will admit it, Lana Del Rey is a character (drawing from and embellishing real life emotions and experiences). I think she's a talented songwriter in that aspect. Lyrically she's very hit or miss for me. Nothing yet from this era has really done anything for me but then theres stuff like Born to Die which lyrically is a fantastic (near perfect) introduction to the concept of Lana Del Rey.

I'm still too scared to start on the background, but I'm working myself up to it. I'm gonna try to color the whole circle like space. 
Looking back on it, I sort of wish I hadn't done the Froot-inspired thing with her hair, since I don't think I'll be able to tie it into the background in a way that won't look gross. Oh well. Still have to reposition her ear and color it as well.

I did the watercolor thing! I completely fucked up the original drawing. Not sure what I did, but it wasn't anything good, so I recreated the base drawing with a lightbox and started over.



Thinking about trying to add some kind of background, but I'm not entirely sold on the idea. it just feels a little unfinished.

This thread is a nope, from me. This is all personal opinions lol. I do think she's a good songwriter, but she's more a great artist in general, her melodies can fix a bad lyric for me and sometimes i don't really mind them being bad or cringeworthy because the melody is good or how she's singing them 

I covered Mermaid Motel and made it as spooky and as lofi as possible. I only used my mac mic and audacity to make thisssss. I'm fairly proud of it. I might do a music video for it? I rlly love this song. (and i really wanna write a song with lana del rey)

You guys are so convinced there will be nothing but Honeymoons on the album...have you not heard High By The Beach? Do you really think that'll be the only upbeat song amidst a sea of violin strings and slow vocals? I think Lana has more taste than to put some random trap song on her album and not have it somehow linked to other tracks or have some that sound similar.
 
Although I will say that the single cover and video for HBTB seem to have completely 0 to do with the rest of the visuals of the album so far so that kind of bothers me. I guess WC's single art was pretty singular among the UV pictures too and fit in with the album but still. We'll just have to see what comes with HM and MTWBT.

This just occurred to me out of nowhere and it's pretty lame but what if Honeymoon is Lana fighting a dual-personality/persona? Like Lana Del Rey vs Elizabeth Grant? The fact that she has two instagrams made me think of this, as well as the two definitive genres that we can expect on the album. 
 
Also the line "You are what you are. I don't matter to anyone" in TLY makes me think of Elizabeth singing to Lana, maybe? And how she listens to the radio to hear herself again and how she lost herself when Lana faded (or more like, will possibly one day fade) into obscurity? Or maybe it's alluding to how Lizzy faded into obscurity.

I must be the only one who sees no similarities between Lorde and Lana. It's obvious with Swift but imo Lorde's image and sound is completely different from Lana's

I like HBTB and TLY more than HM.
 
 
For some reason I can not get myself to listen to HM all the way through. 

I've had enough with the BTD hate. When will it stop? It’s unbelievable. What’s so wrong about being this era’s stan? It was perfect in every way possible. Physical releases, TV performances, promo, the album itself, photoshoots.

Not gonna lie, I don't think there'll ever be a Lana song that tops West Coast or Off to the Races in terms of production, the production on those two literally slay my world 

I love the Paradise cover. Yes, it is edited but not beyond recognition like some people claim.
