I was a big fan of Manson's 2015 "The Pale Emperor". Apart from the fact that I loved the production, song concepts and the display of his vocals, it kind of showed that even an artist like Marilyn Manson can grow with dignity and without desperately trying to recreate former succes. "The Pale Emperor" sounded great and had everything a Manson album needed without ´trying to be overly shocking, dark and heavy for the sake of it. I'm pretty disappointed with "Heaven Upside Down" though. Everything he did great with "The Pale Emperor", he did wrong here. It feels like a rehash of "Antichrist Superstar"'s glory gone terribly wron.. Things that were shocking and provocative in Manson's peak just feel boring or even embarassing by now. "One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten - revelations come in twelve, I'll say it again" is cringy and the "Satan/Say10" wordplay won't raise any eyebrow. The album's not bad or anything, but it feels uninspired and forgetable - I think it won't age well and just be "one of Manson's many album" more than soon. "KILL4ME" is not very innovative, but it's fun as hell. Emotional songs are not really his strongest department, yet "Blood Honey" is pretty nice. And then there is "Saturnalia", a track I honestly LOVE. Rest of the tracks dangle between "nice" and "boring".

I's hard to really get all of my all-time favs into an album, since then there are always other tracks popping up in my mind, which I think I can't leave out. "If I include BE, I have to include UV aswell!" etc etc. and then it ends up beinga 20+ tracklist, that doesn't really sound like it could be an album, So, I just tried to do a pretty short album that also flows pretty well imo. 01 Cola 02 Blue Jeans 03 National Anthem 04 West Coast 05 High By The Beach 06 Shades Of Cool 07 Music To Watch Boys To 08 Cherry 09 Money Power Glory 10 Wait For Life 11 Heroin 12 Old Money

The obsession some of the members here have with Manson ... can't tell if cringy or disgusting.

I always imagine some sort of animated video in the style of those older cartoons a la Betty Boop with her and the backing dancers doing the choreo

Gawd Marina, stop this f*cking "I want to give you a message" sh*t, noone cares unless you release some new music. You are not a writer or activist, you are a pop singer, so the pretentious blog-entries can be a nice bonus but not "your thing".

I preferred her when she really did music with some sort of ~groove. Like Lowlife or the acoustic version of Everybody Wants To Be Poppy. Everything else is still kind of fun (especially her weird videos) but also pretty dull and it gets pretty annoying pretty fast. Funfact: My mom's phone was connected to my google account for some reason and so she always got my YouTube notifications. Turns out she watched a lot of Poppies weird videos and actually liked them

I just saw an ISON vinyl in a local music shop oO did not expect that. GET THOSE GERRMAN COINS LIZA!
-
It's nice but not really competing with anything on ISON.

Seeing her behave like an edgy 15 year old on social media is getting cringy-er ever since Honeymoon

Honeymoon doesn't deserve to be treated like this

It's a great record, probably my second-favourite. It's stripped bsck yet effective and there is something very mature about it (that's missing from shitty songs like LfL). However, it's also extremely monotonous -
Hahahaha Allie is a) not deep b) generic and bland c) not at all comparable to Lana. Her music is fun but she should stay at her level
-
Still funnier than all those elementary-school-level"haha a drag queen said penis/vagina" jokes the gays on this forum laugh about
-
Actually sounds promising if the song does not break-down into another track a la The Louvre/Homemade Dynamite/ Supercut and manages to stay within this lull vibe.
-
It's a solid track. Catchy and I like that it's not yet another slow ballad. But yeah, pretty much the usual BANKS stuff. Her melodies, productions and vocal repertoire are quite limited. Still a nice song.

I think you have to see this on two levels: The first one is the actual referendum. 90% voted yes, BUT only 42% of the people allowed to vote actually used that priviledge. And of course, looking at all the violence that took place, people who would have voted "no" have most likely not taken the risk to get into a dangerous situation. And - as conspiracy theory-esque this may sound - you have to ask yourself who profits in this situation? The people voting yes may crave freedom etc. But the guys fueling the movement - what financial, economical or power-related reasons do they have? Has nationalism ever really brought much good to the world? The second level is the way the guardia civil (=\= police) treats the people who vote or protest. And those instances are just unacceptable, a lot of the violence was disproportinal.

She just tries to distract us from the awful studio version of Disconnect with this pretentious mess. We all know all of her oh-so-important ted-talk might not matter to even herself tomorrow.

She just teased something for October 4th

Probably just a joke -
Her more "Moody" songs like Fuck With Myself are her best ones, glad it will not just be another slow ballad-y track.
-
yeah, and that's what I recommend if you want to keep on listening to the terrible album version of OHDH

Well, if all you listen to is Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and The Chainsmokers, then yeah - she's indie af. If you actually take a step back and compare her to actual "indie-artists", then you'll see that nothing about her is "indie" in any way. -

Her music is bland mainstream pop af, it's just not successful. That does not make her "indie". -
