2020 USA Democratic Presidential General Election
sjatib replied to graham4anything's topic in World News
It's called imperialism. About the discussion on "socialism" and South America, as a southamerican myself, will ask you to PLEASE educate yourself a bit on the matter. Quite unsensitive by yourself to talk that easily about realities that concern the lives of millions and which you dont know anything about, it shows. I saw you made some comment about "not wanting US to have to invade Venezuela". Please, man. Read a bit about the role your country has had regarding the state of all of the southcone, also centroamerican countries. Read about international law and how invading any country isn't a matter of another one "having to", but something that's legally prohibited and therefore, a crime. Your statements are absolutely offensive and uninformed, even if I get you dont come from bad intentions and understand it, but words are truly important and you may get a lot of people pissed with no need for it. -
We're most probably on the wait for another ugly, unprofessional, visionless, sibling-directed "mv". Hope I'm wrong, though.

It sounds so, so similar to CG. Kind of worrried.

I dont just disagree on the censorship you are demanding yourself (not giving someone a place at a -leftist, by the way- media because of their political orientation?) but have to say that your conceptions on socialism may be misguided too. Whenever talking about regimes that cut on freedom of speech you should point at communism (and specifically at certain conceptions of communism, not all of them) and not at socialism at all. Most of self-called "socialist" parties, at least over the western side of the world, have more today to do with neoliberal practices than with socialist/socialdemocrat ones, not to talk about the unexistent link to practices on authoritarian communist regimes

Im looking at all the beautiful NFR-VBBOTG tracklists you are making and considering all the subtle connections between both projects, and Im thinking about how much power do they have together and how much of a one thing are they actually. Even if the scheduling of it all has been terrible, its a huge event to be able to see finally the full picture Lana was trying to depict when working on both the album and the poetry, and which has got to make all of its sense just right now, at least for me. What a intrincated, rich yet humble vision she has developed about the world and its perks, always from the perspective she gets to perceive it. Im willing to see whatever life brings to her from now on. She's a weird, bizarre, genius artist.

Needed three full attempts to get to listen to this project in full. Its heavy, its complex. It isnt something you can listen to while doing or thinking about anything else. This is so obscure and its brilliant. Lana delivery is truly outstanding and Jack's music couldnt have been done better. I wasnt expecting for this album to be such a dense, dark artistic thing. Maybe its even too dark. Damn, Lana...

i truly cannot highlight enough on how much I love this. -
This is extremely beautiful. So subtle, so fragile, so sensitive. Lana at her peak again.

Dont know if I may be the only one, but her whole image (in this pictures, I mean) seems very weird to me. Like, she doesnt look at all as her. If I was a casual fan who hasnt seen her for (just a few) years and got to see this pictures now I'd probably wouldnt be able to recognise her.

I'd say the thing about "losing her singing voice" was just a pretext to not go touring, as she announced few months later she had recorded an entire new album. Dont see the chances of that happening with her singing voice lost.

I've never liked this girl to the point that I couldn't finish any of her albums cause they made me cringe heavily. Got interested about this new one seeing the titles and the people she's worked with, and I'm right now at song 4 and sincerely liking it. Hope it delivers through the 12 songs (!) left!

Man... Havent seen you here until few days ago, so assuming you are a new user (excuse me if you are not; excuse me too if you arent a man, as I dont know). This forum is characterised by people talking in a mostly funny way, exchanging views about a lot of things (which includes joking about Lana's dates too, as her romantic relationships are maybe the central factor her artistic output levitates towards). Try to not take things here that seriously or feel them as an offense, as that's actually not the general vibe or the intentions of people here. When real offenses or damaging comments happen (to Lana or to anyone around), its always highlighted and censored usually by most of us. So truly, maybe the experience will be better for you if you loose yourself a bit. Hope its being a nice one already, anyway!

Couldn't agree more. "You should come and take a walk on the wild side, you should let me fUcK u HaRd in the pouring rain", why....

I dont think that the topic in question regarding their ability to live "normal lives" during a world pandemic -and inside the most affected country in the world- has to do with them being "american", but with them being extremely wealthy, not belonging to any ethnic minority in particular danger and being able to afford all the goods -both symbolical and material- they need to just keep on with their privileged existences. It's very unlikely that any of them is facing a terrible financial crisis due to unemployment or poverty, or that they are stressed for not being able to afford sanitary assistance or the means to keep isolated from the layers of population who are truly in danger. Their vital status is absolutely non extrapolable to the one which the absolute majority of americans are facing right now.

I think that the thing with Religion -as with all that album, sadly- is that no one payed attention to it from a deep perspective. Anyway, I think that the song isn't as problematic as the ones you highlighted. The fact that she depicts a blowjob or a very intense romantic experience (and in a truly beautiful and poetic way) doesn't come necessary as submisive, I think, when the mysoginist narrative is quite explicit in many other of her songs.

Hahaha... Its funny cause I dont dislike none of those songs, but can feel your pain, bro

Thank you for this. California is one of the worst songs she's ever done. Music is standard and lazy, lyrics are damn terrible, structure and composition are worse than a demo. The only thing that makes it look a bit better is that it's followed by an even worse song as TNBAR is (even if I'm not truly sure which of them is more terrible).
