Albums have to be submitted 60 days (?) before release so that means she has about a month to finish it up.

Censoring art defeats the purpose of it, but I can only hope that the mess of the past two weeks has taught her to think really carefully about the messages she conveys, and the words she uses ...

I don't want a safe album (and I felt that NFR was), but, if she's going to be political at all (not my preference but probably inevitable), I don't want one that's tone deaf, either ... idk ... I'm scared lmao

i hope she doesn’t try to be political, usually i’m fine with, or even like, artists getting a little political (hozier) but she’s not good at it at all so i want her to stay far, faaar away

lots of social change start with violent riots, the suffragettes, stonewall, boston tea party. i feel for small business owners caught in the crossfire, hopefully they can get their money from insurance and rebuild

this has been a nightmare for everyone, but ultimately, at some point action must be taken. these people have been trying it the non-violent way for decades now, and it’s gotten them nowhere

when you have a platform, you have the moral obligation to speak out and point out when obvious injustices like this occur (especially if your fandom is majority white and lost in their own world like lana’s is, she could be raising awareness in a group of people that a lot of other pop stars can’t reach)

Can we stop using a racist as if it's one category and a noun? People can be racist without being "a racist" I've had loved ones... people I've trusted... friends.... be racist. And I am a black woman. It doesn't mean I automatically see them as a confederate flag waving bigots, but they have been racist and said/done racist things, and it can't be ignored and has to be called out. People think you have to have racist intentions to be racist. No. Even good people with good intentions can perpetuate racism and they must learn from those moments. It's not just overt hate that exists within the realm of racism we experience. You can be racist without being "a racist." And thus Lana absolutely can say something racist. It's called ignorance and it's still no excuse. Let's please stop acting like it only applies to one evil category of people. And also, having black friends or partaking in black culture doesn't free you from the cycle of racism. I'm not even sure what the context of this response was, but the one of steps toward combating racism is recognizing in all forms (small and large and within a one's ownself) and not feeling so damn uncomfortable about it!

Of course people are spinning people's anger and frustration at her endangering protestors' lives into "she just can't win with you! You control freaks will never be happy!" fuck off

Good that she posted things that implies she supports what's going on, is aware etc. But spoiler, people are allowed to be pissed that she posted people looting in a way that clearly allows you to see the location, their clothes, their shoes, their faces etc to her 16+ million followers. She's putting them in danger doing that. There's been so much conversation around how fucking dangerous that is for protestors. And this isn't paranoia- so, so many Ferguson protestors have been found dead under extremely suspicious circumstances. This is what we mean when we say ignorance isn't just an individual flaw. It's actively dangerous.
    Speak for yourself lol
