Some people are completely missing this simple point so bad

When are ya'll gonna realise celebrities are LITERALLY regular people? If you care about racial issues, you'll speak up. It's that simple. There's nothing more to it than that. It's cowardly to stay quiet.

It's up to you I'm fine with either (Lana look how easy it is to edit a post for clarification)

When someones favorite singer, who they hold close to their heart, is being silent on an issue like this, it does provoke an emotional response. Its only natural. Seeing someone you admire not standing up for a cause like this can be weird and make you feel unsure about them. People care about their faves saying something. Not every single celeb in the world.

she is, but if she says nothing, then she looks really bad bc it raises all sorts of questions: is she not posting anything bc she's just afraid of more backlash AKA she cares more abt her own feelings/reputation than abt police brutality & the state sanctioned murder of yet another black man? OR does she only care abt injustices when they directly affect her, and in those cases she's evidently not afraid of doubling down on her own controversial opinions? OR does she just not care bc what's happening is so remote to her & her white bougie lifestyle? OR is she taking a page out of the taylor swift book (the outdated one, bc even taylor's changed her ways) & decided to remain "neutral" and apolitical to not risk alienating potential listeners? OR, even worse, is she a "both sides" #alllivesmater type who's afraid of offending some sensibilities, namely those of her cop ex-bf & maybe other people they/she hung out with?

so as you see, staying silent is BY FAR the worst decision she could make rn.

THANK YOU! I truly don't know why is so hard for people to understand the importance of this.

Amazing that Lana went from being so vocal about gun violence (as far as mass shootings) to radio silence about BLM. Disappointing to say the least.

idk about you guys but I’ve lost a lot of respect for LDR today...she’s so aware of everything and she still hasn’t said a word. she was active last night on ig and she couldn’t even bring herself to post anything regarding the black lives matter movement. insensitive and disgusting behaviour on her behalf. i hope she AT LEAST reposts a link for a petition

This isn't about having opinions validated, it's about bringing awareness to a horrendous act that took the life of an innocent man. Sure, celebrities don't have to post about it, but I sure would question them if they didn't, especially if these celebrities never hesitate to promote their music any time of day.

Is it not our job as human beings to actually give a shit about another person's life and bring awareness to a platform filled with millions of followers? It's more than just a donation link. Donation links don't challenge people's minds - words do.

Her silence is her privilege. It has nothing to do with reputation because if you were outraged enough and desperate enough to ensure that accurate information is being spread as far as possible you would try and help.

how come I can really see her posting a typewritten note saying something like "as disgusted as I am from these tumultuous events, I still see the good in people and the cops, and the riots cause more damage than good xx" as much as I love Lana and her music, I've been really turned off by her actions recently and won't be surprised if she's silent or posts yet another polarizing piece

The fact that some of you think that what a minority of people MAY believe if Lana posts about George Floyd is a valid excuse for her not to is sad.  Who tf cares what people think. The point is sharing on your platform how to donate, what the BLM is about, etc. etc.  That's what being an ALLY is. And if she is kissing ass then at least some good will come out of it.  She had no problem doubling down making numerous unedited posts that weren't even thought through when it was an issue pertaining to her.

I undestand why she hasn't posted but I think she should post. Who cares if people will drag her or not, this is serious and important. Either you are with them or you are against them

I'm sorry but it’s really pissing me off that Lana has said nothing in support of George Floyd/the black lives matter movement. I used to take her silence on important political issues as just part of Lana’s image/persona, but now since she has had no issue speaking out about things that effect HER, whether it be Trump in 2016 or her most recent “question for the culture”, there is really no excuse for remaining selectively silent. Idk I’m just feeling really disappointed with Lana at the moment. Her behaviour is screaming white feminist and I was willing to give her the benefit of the doubt with the *questionable* IG posts but her silence on the George Floyd murder is even more problematic and indefensible to me.

when you have a platform, you have the moral obligation to speak out and point out when obvious injustices like this occur (especially if your fandom is majority white and lost in their own world like lana’s is, she could be raising awareness in a group of people that a lot of other pop stars can’t reach)

The level of mental gymnastics some of y'all do for the sake of defending her, smh.

The past week left me so disappointed in her, tbh, it's just mentally painful. Lana meant A LOT to me and then suddenly she (herself!) reveals that she's just living in her own bubble, ignorant, only concerned about people who "look and act like her" and making herself a martyr. I'm just SO close to unstanning.

I can "understand" this, but it's just still pathetic and racist. Selective empathy is not empathy.

It's very difficult for her to say something when she's just spent a week doubling down over comments that many perceived to be racist.

I'd like her to speak out, too, but I don't see how she can do that without people associating last week's mess with whatever she'd say about this.

I don't trust her, and I feel like she'd say something really crackheaded like, "Here is a poem I wrote about pansies. It's a reminder that all lives matter, including those of plants. I hope it brings some comfort to all of those affected by the current acts of violence. Much love - Lana x"

the lengths and hoops y'all are going through to justify her publicly ignoring this situation is astounding

Of course I don’t know what she’s doing or not doing. If she has donated or signed a petition, great. But I don’t think it would hurt to let her fans know that she has done something to help the BLM movement, the worst thing that could happen would be that people wouldn’t believe her after last week, but honestly, that shouldn’t bother her if she knows she’s done something to help.
Like others pointed out already, she can take time to make multiple posts explaining her “question for the culture” message, promote stores and send DMs to Instagram moms... Why can’t she take a minute to, say, I don’t know, post a BLM picture and a link to petitions or donations in the caption? It’s the least she can do.

She could sign petitions for other problems in the world too, but this is something that’s going on daily in her own country. I think it would hit her closer to home than something she might not even be aware of in a foreign country. There’s no way she has missed news of the recent days and what’s going on in America right now.

I agree. I think also she’s super upset about the grammys which idk but I read her statements on insta kind of like “look some of these women have won Grammys for singing about similar topics, but I got criticized.” Then she played it safer with NFR and didn’t win.... so I feel like her statement was also kind of a fuck you to the industry and she’s going to do whatever she wants with her music moving forward bc it doesn’t matter anyway. So I hope that the way I interpreted some of it is right and she won’t censor herself anymore or hold back.

Her Shades of Cool performance still gives me goosebumps. I am so happy I saw that tour live - and she paused a show to speak to me from stage
