Barrie has such a great voice-- so much so that I can look past the cringe-worthy name of  ~Nightmare Boy~   (seriously Barrie?!! ew.)
The video matches with the eeriness of the song which are both beautiful. I gotta say that the scene w Lana rubbing her feet on Barrie's face made me uncomfortable, like you'd think it'd be sexy but it just made me tense up the 1st time  [ look at 3:07 ]! I'm reminded of vulgar Lizzy with all of the weirdness and even with the way she walks in her short little dress.
I'm simultaneously repulsed & drawn to how they feed off each other's creepiness lol

I've been humming along all day. What a catchy, dark tune even though I'm guessing half the time at what he's singing.
               :

Edit: As if! He just tweeted lyrics to the song. Now I can properly sing along

I posted a topic months ago with the portrait and looking back at it now I realize that was total crap lmao.
So I re-did the portrait, because I'm using it in my architecture portfolio for college, and I am so glad I re-did it!
Wanted to share it with you all. Let me know what you think. I think it looks 100 times better than the previous version.

Gurl, stop! Cowboy/Cowgirl theme for Cola would be absolutely flawless! I don't give a fuck about DP though. That single realease was pointless anyway.

I totally overlooked the "eight years ago" part at first ( at a possible reference to Sirens or her other early recordings) but I'd been meaning to contact Steven Mertens for months since @@Trash Magic and I put some things together about him (which perhaps belong in Lanalysis). When I saw she mentioned him by name in this article, I got on that immediately and sent him an e-mail. I'll report back any response, but please don't bother him in case it interferes with my attempts to correspond with him.

In addition to sharing the bill with her at a Cross-Pollination show, and playing in her backing band as TPD noted (he's the guy that looks sort of like McNulty from The Wire in the Canal Room videos), Mertens has actually been referred to in at least two other interviews with Lana. Remember that Megan and Menace in the Mornings interview?
(You can listen here at around 5:20.) Regina Spektor (who TPD notes Mertens also played for) is married to Jack Dishel who was in a band called The Moldy Peaches. Guess who else was in The Moldy Peaches? Steven Mertens. I wasn't completely convinced at first that that's who she was talking about (I thought it was more likely another Moldy Peaches member, Adam Green, since his initials are AG, likely a red herring) until @@Trash Magic pointed out something I'd missed-- in that Mizrahi interview she said:
A little digging shows that Steven Saint = Steven Mertens (see here and here).

    Just some quick reactions:

"Like Dan [Daniel Heath, who co-wrote “Blue Jeans”], who’s not into pop music but rather, a composer for scores and studied under Hans Zimmer."

I'm thinking Dan Heath co-wrote Bel Air and this is interviewer error.

"Are you going to move forward with work on them, or do you feel too discouraged because of the leaks?
Lana: I do feel discouraged, yeah. I don’t really know what to put on the record. But I guess I could just put them on and see what happens. Each time I write… I’ll never write a song if I don’t think it’s going to be perfect for the record."

She should do exactly that and see what happens, so I would think no impact of record production. The idea of writing a song and releasing it only if it's perfect for the record seems a bit, well ... anal. The people she admires most as pop composers probably don't adhere to that standard. And to say she doesn't know what to put on the record? Let me suggest the 3 independent realizations of Every Man Gets His Wish, for starters. She has more choice than most pop artists. I also like the idea of an artist that doesn't quite know what to put on a record and ends up giving you like 70 mins of music (e.g., Tori Amos). There is no shame in that, LOL, although I bet the record execs hate it.

"Steven Mertens, who made my first record [editor’s note: David Kahne is credited as the producer of her debut, 2010’s Lana Del Ray a.k.a. Lizzy Grant; Mertens is a member of the Brooklyn band Spacecamp]."

This has got to be SIRENS, right? I wouldn't mind a 2nd Sirens-esque album! Or even a Sirens release. She could do it as May Jailer (why not, novelists often go by different names in different genres). It's the digital age damn it! It's supposed to be easy to release things. What's up with the inhibition to release non-standard non-current work. It's as if music industry pundits (and fans) dislike an artist who happens to be excellent at different styles.

"I’m not as interested in flip-floppers."
Yes, but ones reaction to music is often like that. Jealous Girl, Never Let Me Go, Back to the Basics, Scarface are songs I initially didn't like much and now think are masterpieces. It's not quite clear what kind of flip-floppingness she's referring to if not musical taste, but changing musical taste is hard and is usually met with aversion and polarization (so she should feel better about her reception).

Finally, @'s comment about the Youtube behavior of certain leaks being different is very interesting. I've often thought there are reasons behind the varying behaviors of different leaks. I don't think Black Beauty's staying there should mean it won't be on the album, because Video Games, which would be as pre-exposed as BB ended up on Born to Die.

btw that's the same dress from the time she was spotted going to Taco Bell in 2012. she's so pretty when her makeup is relatively natural!

I miss her Mercedes </3  do y'all think she gave her Mercedes to Chuck or Charlie? there were pics of Chuck driving around in it a while ago.

also, Lana has had that huge diamond ring since the Brit Awards. I think it's just another LDR accessory & doesn't mean she's engaged. who knows maybe her mindset has changed now that she's older.

On another note: didn't she once say that was her lucky hat?... or maybe that was Chuck?

I wanted to start by saying I am so lucky to have been able to see Lana Del Rey two days in a row. Although my expectations were way too high and I was unable to meet her, I am still happy that I got to see her live and solidify my love for Lana. I think it's really important to see an artist that you listen to almost every day live, just so that things come a full circle. I don't know if that will make sense to anyone but I'm just trying to say it just solidified my love for Lana, to see her live. I also realized after the shows that when I paid for my ticket, I had to know that this was just for the show. Not for meeting Lana or guaranteeing front row, those were all just my expectations (and dreams haha).

    House of Blues - August 1, 2013

I arrived at the venue about 11:30 AM and much to my surprise, I was #26 in line. I honestly did not expect so many people to already be there, and did not think that especially since House of Blues requires you to pay $20 if you want to skip the line and wait in the priority line. Now I know! This kind of showed me just how big of an artist Lana is compared to the other people I have seen in the past, where getting to the venue at noon guaranteed me front and center. People had been waiting here since 5 AM which I couldn't believe. Then again, people on this forum have gone to shows even earlier.
So I was #26, the venue is pretty small (1300 people), and the barricade isn't that wide. I knew that I wouldn't be getting barricade. Well anyways, it still hadn't set in that I'd be seeing Lana in the matter of hours. I had waited for this day for so long and it finally happened. Lana got to the venue for soundcheck and played a few songs which we could all hear downstairs in the line, Cola, Body Electric, and one more song. It turns out she left after soundcheck but about 7-10 people had met her because they went underground to the loading/unloading station, where Lana was also picked up. So, couldn't meet her before the show, which was my fault. Now I know about that underground entrance though! Doors opened at 8, and I ended up in 2nd row center, because when we got to the main floor, as expected, the barricade was already filled, and my heart kinda sank. It wasn't meant to be. Now, I focused on just enjoying the show and letting Lana do her thing and blow us away. The opening act played for literally 25 minutes, I also felt bad because the crowd was very mean to them. Oh well. Lana came on much later, way after the band left because she was late to the venue. The intro for Cola began and the crowd went wild. I must say, people LOVE Lana here. People knew the words to every song. It was beautiful. After experiencing this concert, I finally started to love the song Cola and it won't leave my head. Lana was flawless. She looked beautiful, she sang perfectly and she put on an amazing show. It was the most beautiful performance I have ever seen. My favorite songs of the night definitely had to be Cola, Born to Die, American, and Video Games. She nailed it. It was an amazing, amazing concert.

I was unable to get a picture with Lana during National Anthem, but I did get my bag with my portrait and letter and rose onto the stage and she acknowledged me, as well as the poster I made, anddd I did get my friend her picture signed by Lana. The crowd was psychotic during NA, people were shoving and I was suffocating. It was crraaaazzzyyyyy. Apparently she snuck out after the show 3 blocks away (??) and no one met her after the show (except a guy who had backstage I think). So I couldn't meet her at all that day, which sucked since I waited for 8 hours before the show, but sometimes it just doesn't work out.

    Lollapalooza - August 2, 2013

This was my first time ever going to Lollapalooza even though I live in Chicago. I had no clue what to expect. So, I went and saw Jessie Ware, because I missed Icona Pop, and I know Imagine Dragons was going to be way too crazy so I skipped them. My friend told me that her uncle would have been able to get us backstage for Lana Del Rey, but unfortunately as it would turn out, last minute he said oh no I can't. It sucked haha. Because of that, I missed out on barricade for Lana (I did have it until my friend told me to come with her to meet Lana). It just sucked yknow? But it's over and I'm over it.

I ended up getting second row during Lana's set, and there were literally thousands and thousands of people watching her perform. It was an unreal experience. Her set list was more or less the same, of course shortened, and she looked so beautiful, even more beautiful this day than the day before.

I'm offended tbh I hate Lizzy, she sucks. Y'all are getting so Lana crazy for this fake girl.

But let me teach you something, people will get crazy about this because yep Día de Muertos is exactly the same as the indian headdress (check what Disney tried to do with my fave celebration), however Mexicans won't start this shit, it will be fake people hatin' on lana because of nothing.

And calling all the Mexicans cholas is racist sitar.

So let me work this for you, our favorite sisters are painted/dressed like "Catrinas" a famous character of this date and also like "Calaveritas de azucar", a typical candy for us.

So everything is fine, if somebody tries to start shit, just tell them "My Mexican friend says that all you saying it's BULLSHIT", and show them this post.
