it's a thread for discussing the poster. the typography for each era is significant to her artistic vision. why can't we discuss the typography, especially in a scenario where a poster has been released where her original in-house font hasn't been used. why can't people discuss what they want. nobody stopping you from discussing other things but some of y'all choosing to try to stop us discussing fonts

So, WHAT'S NEW?
 
 
1. She got her appendix removed, and had to cancel some shows in December.
 

 
 
2. She got back on track and performed the mini-Norwegian tour. She did amazing considering she had her appendix removed 2 weeks before! (..she also fell OFF stage during Winter Bird at the final show of 2016, poor thing. She did the whole show either way!)
 
3. She's got a new hot haircut.
 

 
 
4. She's finally done shows Asia (Singapore), New Zealand and Australia!
 

 
 
5. She won "Album of the Year" at the GAFFA Awards. She won Best Newcomer last year!
 

 
 
6. She's nominated for THREE (3!!!) Norwegian GRAMMY awards this year. She won Best Newcomer there last year as well.
 
 
7. She did this insane cover of Massive Attack's "Teardrops" two days ago, and it left everyone bald. (She also did Warrior, which also left everyone bald tbh.)
 

 


  
8. She just won TWO Norwegian GRAMMY awards for Best Pop Solo Artist and Best Music Video for "I Went Too Far".
 
9. She's having a 4 month break from touring now to finish and put the final touches on the 2nd album before the festival season (it's still expected to be released this fall/winter until further notice). You guys should be excited. Things are happening and it sounds amazing.
 
 
 
 
(Also, I've actually moved across the country from Oslo to Bergen.... I moved here yesterday to work for Aurora's management. Sh!t.)

I'd love a really dark concept album shot by Steven Klein with Solve Et Coagula as the title. I think it would fit perfectly the theme.

I mean, as a recovering alcoholic myself, I really disagree with this. There's nothing that I love more than a pasta with a vodka sauce. I had one last night, and had a glass of champagne with it. As far as food goes, when cooking with alcohol, the alcohol itself is burned off. There's none left in the dish. So, you can serve the same dish Lana orders to a 10 year old and be fine. & there's truly no problem with having a glass of something alcoholic here and there, as long as you're not sitting home alone with a bottle of whiskey in hand. If people who have chosen to go sober also choose to drink every now and then (knowing their limits), that's their choice. And if they don't, that's their choice as well. There's really no "rule book" for it since everyone handles matters differently. It's all about what an individual thinks is best for them.
Those are just my thoughts, at least. 

This is actually a really interesting thought though. 
 
I understand people have different music tastes and all but I really dislike seeing all the negativity about Honeymoon, people calling it the album they listen to when they want to sleep and all that.
 
Lana recorded many calm songs in the beginning. I feel like she went back to her roots for Honeymoon but also showed how much she has grown. The songs are obviously not at all comparable to Sirens (very different musical style and all) but still, to me it feels she finally got to do the music she always wanted to do but couldn't because she needed to make an album like Born to Die first.
 
(I'm not saying that she hated making BTD, "please don't let me be misunderstood"    )
 
I'm sorry if any of this has already been discussed before, I'm just rambling. 

So I thought I'd share with you guys some of my Lana art I made. I used to have a Facebook page where Lana fans would message me, asking to make some kind of art for various things to put up on their Youtube/Instagrams etc. So some of my work might look familiar but yeah. It's purely just for fun btw.

Lana has shown enthusiasm for including covers on each of her albums so we might as well brace for it instead of expecting Lana Del Creature of Habit to do anything else

Truthfully, HM is my least favorite Lana album, but I still think the album and era had some redeeming qualities. Probably my biggest qualm with it is that everything still felt as if it were in a transitional phase-- the songs didn't quite sound *finished*, the videos seemed thrown together, the visuals weren't as dynamic as they have been for past eras, and Lana never seemed to settle on a certain style/mood/aesthetic for the era, as she had previously. 
 
That being said, I think the HM era had some high points! I felt like the unreleased Honeymoon video was an extremely beautiful, and an interesting route that I wish Lana had explored further. The V Magazine and Marfa Journal shoots were some of my all-time favorites, and the songs from HM are beautiful, even if they are enjoyed in small doses due to a bit of monotony and repetitiveness, imo. Also, Lana served some beautiful  looks this era (the blonde!!!!!) and some gorgeous stylings (whatever event this was from: )! 
 
And, despite being a bit of a side-note to the HM era, Lana's little Instagram videos have been so sweet and cute
 
All in all, I think the best word to describe my opinion of the HM album/era is solid. After a staggeringly incredible run of albums by Lana since 2010, HM didn't blow minds or achieve any levels of perfection, but it wasn't bad by any means-- not a great hit, but not a miss, either. I think it may have provided a bit of respite for Lana, who's been producing knockout albums and dealing with all sorts of publicity ever since Video Games hit it big-- this era was calm, cool, and maybe even sedate-- but, as they say, "solve et coagula", and hopefully LDR5 is a bit more exciting and dynamic

Agree so much! I don't know why exactly, but I do love the atmosphere of the song and the way she sings it.

I put Carmen to play today and my sister said she heard "Call me Harley Quinn" instead of "Coney Island Queen".
