idk about you guys but I’ve lost a lot of respect for LDR today...she’s so aware of everything and she still hasn’t said a word. she was active last night on ig and she couldn’t even bring herself to post anything regarding the black lives matter movement. insensitive and disgusting behaviour on her behalf. i hope she AT LEAST reposts a link for a petition

Her silence is her privilege. It has nothing to do with reputation because if you were outraged enough and desperate enough to ensure that accurate information is being spread as far as possible you would try and help.

This isn't about having opinions validated, it's about bringing awareness to a horrendous act that took the life of an innocent man. Sure, celebrities don't have to post about it, but I sure would question them if they didn't, especially if these celebrities never hesitate to promote their music any time of day.

Is it not our job as human beings to actually give a shit about another person's life and bring awareness to a platform filled with millions of followers? It's more than just a donation link. Donation links don't challenge people's minds - words do.

idc what celebrities have to say about politics. To expect them to speak on current events just to acknowledge it.... really is just virtue signaling and social performance. Yeah it would be great if she shared a donation link or a petition but when celebs do that its like :/ you're sitting on millions of dollars and you want little unemployed me to donate?? itsjustnotrealistic.gif . The best thing she could do is donate her own money, and use her platform to elevate the voices of black activists rather than adding her own commentary. If she said something herself it would just look like damage control, and it would be hard to accept as sincere from someone who was very recently (and maybe still) involved with a known racist cop. I also understand wanting reassurance that your fave cares about you but we can't really force her to talk, nor is she obligated to. And theres a huge chance that if she does acknowledge this, her post might just make you even more disappointed in her depending on what she says. Like literally she's just ignorant and privileged and got herself in a mess, but idk it just feels like a waste of everyone's emotional energy to hope she says something and to be upset with her if she doesn't. She might be doing some deep thinking rn and reevaluating her world views based on this tragedy and people's criticism of her posts. We'll just have 2 wait and see

in case anyone got it twisted: I am not under any circumstances saying you're wrong for wanting her to say something. I just want u guys to stay healthy and happy especially during a time like this, where it's so easy to get overwhelmed and start a downward spiral. Miss I believe in the country America used to be LDR acknowledging this isn't like super important in the grand scheme of things. Sharing petitions and donation campaigns is really nice but the best thing to do is organize and take action. the revolution will not be televised live tweeted . And also, pls take care of urself bbys. Don’t get too worked up over something like this, it’s out of your control and it’s not worth your energy

Even her dad is on twitter talking about racial injustice for the 100th time. The last week-and-a-half has been quite eye opening for me as a stan, tbh. If nothing more, she’s incredibly stuck in her own myopic worldview and only truly concerned about issues that affect people like her.

if she's all about the intentions as she says she is, and she felt compelled to speak about the disgusting racial issues plaguing America, she would post regardless of what the backlash would be. I wonder what her defense could POSSIBLY be... it doesn't fit in her aesthetic or sumn...

its as simple as spreading awareness. is that too much to ask for?

the lengths and hoops y'all are going through to justify her publicly ignoring this situation is astounding

Of course I don’t know what she’s doing or not doing. If she has donated or signed a petition, great. But I don’t think it would hurt to let her fans know that she has done something to help the BLM movement, the worst thing that could happen would be that people wouldn’t believe her after last week, but honestly, that shouldn’t bother her if she knows she’s done something to help.
Like others pointed out already, she can take time to make multiple posts explaining her “question for the culture” message, promote stores and send DMs to Instagram moms... Why can’t she take a minute to, say, I don’t know, post a BLM picture and a link to petitions or donations in the caption? It’s the least she can do.

She could sign petitions for other problems in the world too, but this is something that’s going on daily in her own country. I think it would hit her closer to home than something she might not even be aware of in a foreign country. There’s no way she has missed news of the recent days and what’s going on in America right now.

When are ya'll gonna realise celebrities are LITERALLY regular people? If you care about racial issues, you'll speak up. It's that simple. There's nothing more to it than that. It's cowardly to stay quiet.

I agree to a certain extent, but this isn’t an issue she should be silent about...

She has a huge platform where she can share petitions and encourage her following to stand up, get involved and spread the message. I can understand why people are disappointed that she isn’t posting anything

Simply speaking up about it and showing support would not turn her into a revolutionary lmao was anyone asking for her to become one??? Or any of the celebs?? Cuz i sure wasnt Lol

if you have time to talk about how un-racist you are or have the time to make a video about the criticism you get and talk about black reparations in that video, then you have time to talk about injustices against black people. prove you want reparations for black people when they're still targets of the government.
lana's getting hate either way, it doesn't matter! use your platform for good.

come off of it yall, why are some of you blindly defending this? you're not getting paid

When someones favorite singer, who they hold close to their heart, is being silent on an issue like this, it does provoke an emotional response. Its only natural. Seeing someone you admire not standing up for a cause like this can be weird and make you feel unsure about them. People care about their faves saying something. Not every single celeb in the world.

Yeah unfortunately not everyone has enough compassion and empathy to get off their high horse and do something selfless like support people going through immense hardship and pain

Not everyone has it in them to stand up for something that doesnt directly affect them

No one is obliged to have a good heart and be a good person

Hiding behind the guise of being an ~artist~ doesn’t excuse selfishness

I dont HAVE to help someone next to me who just tripped and fell, but me walking past them like nothing happened says alot about my character

It's probably not even just him. She is 34 years old and she has had what? like 3? boyfriends in the past 12 months or so? She flaky af, doesn't know how to keep a man. So maybe we shouldn't be too hard on the cop and put our girl on a pedestal every time. She's a bad decision maker.

    (just an observation)

So their relationship starts with a pap taking pics in central park and ends with him announcing it in the NYT, and promoting his TV show. You did it all for fame  strange how that works? Wonder where all the people who were telling some more... police-critical members to suck it up because they were the real deal are now?
