ooo i'll share some of mine! lee hazlewood gets nowhere remotely near enough credit as he deserves! he is one of the greats. this feels controversial to say as a gaga stan, but i think there's a lot of revisionist history surrounding ARTPOP. i love gaga and i genuinely fkn love ARTPOP but if we're being brutally honest.... with the exception of a few songs it wasn't particularly ahead of its time and im not sure where that narrative comes from. if anything, it was very *of* its time. EDM was the popular mainstream sound at that point, and i don't think it deviated too much from that blueprint aside from that it went a little harder on the sound (just my opinion!). the album deffo has kooky and weird moments (Aura is a straight up amazing acid trip, Venus was campy but not overly weird, G.U.Y. was also super camp with the spoken word parts) but i don't think it's anywhere near as experimental as people claim. that being said i still love the album! yung lean is ridiculously influential and his impact on the current music scene (so far as rappers and even hyperpop artists are concerned) will be recognised and maybe even studied one day. i also think he's an infinitely better artist than bladee - who i still love! the current y2k revival is getting a little boring for me! it borders on cosplay at some points i hate the anti-intellectualism stance that a lot of rap fans/hiphop fans are taking over the past few years, mocking artists like kendrick lamar or j cole for being conscious rappers and calling them "corny" or whatever... there's a place for silly non-serious lyricism but also a place for the opposite! also kendrick lamar will always be legendary but i'm not sure how unpopular that opinion is lmao

one of my all time favourite lana songs I have the words "I had a dream that I was fine; I wasn't crazy, I was divine" in gold ink framed in my room! if she can give us that level of serve again I'd be so happy

at this point i've resigned all hope for new music anytime soon, and honestly that's fine by me! we've been fairly spoiled over the past year and a bit, so i can live with waiting for new music as long as it's super super good! now what i WOULD like...... is for lana to announce a string of "one night only" intimate shows in a few different locations with entirely unique setlists and ultimately a 4K recording to be released afterwards, including songs from BB and COCC and new arrangements of older songs that we already know, to fill the time during the wait for LDR9.

you might be right! something about it just sounds so... almost quiet? whenever i listen to it! but maybe ill give it a proper listen and some good speakers and change my mind!

I love how much her voice varies in this song we get lower and higher registers, pissed off tones and soft sweet tones, loud vocals and subtle vocals, i love it !!!

text book is a funny one on paper i feel like i should really like it - it's got tempo changes, a gloomy western vibe, vulnerable lyrics... all things i really love in lana tracks - but something about it just doesn't click for me. i think it might be more interesting and enjoyable if perhaps the second verse carried on the same tempo as the chorus after the (admittedly not very seamless) transition and change of pace. i also think it needs more drums - the second verse (if it did carry on the same tempo as the chorus like i suggested) could benefit from some cool FIILY-esque kinda drums, but less surfy obviously. i also think it just needs more OOMPH overall, like it feels very flat and empty. the chorus really needs to feel like a breath of fresh air if its going to utilise a tempo change, but it doesn't really idk it sounds like a demo almost. needs more oooooomph!!

im so looking forward to this!! as far as i've heard it's gonna be in the style of TBHC which honestly im fine with because i loved that album, although im certain its gonna turn off a lot of older fans for life. still, im happy

not to beat a dead horse, but just in response to the discourse surrounding those that are disappointed / not so happy with the snippet - i think it's important to remember that doesn't mean they're not looking forward to new lana music, or that they hate lana's current direction! for example, i really LOOOVED blue banisters!! i loved norman too (my second fave album after ultraviolence) and although i wasn't too keen on chemtrails i still like it, and i revisit White Dress, Wild At Heart, DBJAG, Tulsa Jesus Freak quite regularly and the title track occasionally. i have never disliked a lana album and i'll be happy for any new music really, even if it is pretty similar to what she's been putting out recently. and just to reiterate again - loved blue banisters! loved it! that being said, it's okay that the recent snippet didn't overexcite me - doesn't mean i'm not a fan or that i haven't enjoyed any of her recent music and i'm sure that's the case with a lot of the members here that aren't super pumped by the new snippet! personally i would like a change and for lana to dip her toes into some new waters (or maybe even revisit some old sounds, like the lush and intense production of Paradise or the unique and singular sounds of AKA) on her new record, but hey maybe she will maybe she won't, and that's fine, but it's alright to be a little disappointed that it's not looking likely! still looking forward to new lana music!

what a cool thread idea!! seconded everybody who mentioned an RPG type game, specifically an open world one! i have no idea how that would work but it would be so cool. orrr an adventure-y type game (something narrative driven like Tomb Raider, Uncharted, that kinda thing) where Lana is on a quest to save the culture while LA is in flames and it's getting hot you'd have boss battles at the end of each level like Kanye West for example - he gets his power from his blonde hair so you have to stop him being blonde and gone before he destroys the world - or Azealia Banks, her boss fight could be a rhythm game inspired fight where you have to dodge and counter her vicious bars. actually wait im kinda getting into this idea lemme contact Naughty Dog real quick
