I've been reading a lot about this and yes, it's terrible. Dr Luke is not just a shit hit-maker/record producer, he's a horrible person. He's an authoritarian and he wants to control everything - Britney Spears' Femme Fatale, Miley Cyrus' most famous singles, Katy Perry's career, etc. I do believe in Kesha, she's not a drama queen and she never really wanted lots of attention. It's so sad because she is so talented. She can sing, write, produce and she has such a nice personality.

I don't think Lukasz will go to jail. Look at R. Kelly, some rumors say that he raped teenagers and he's still there... releasing albums, videos, performing. But I do hope he loses his job... it would be immoral if someone wants to work with him after all this freaking mess. Good luck, K$!

P.S.: Wow at Gaga supporting her

As most of you know by now Kesha filled a Civil Lawsuit against Dr. Luke accusing him of assault, battery and rape. It's bizarre her description of what he did. I do believe in "Innocent Until proven Guilty" and I do believe in not putting Dr.Luke in a cross or hanging him at the moment. But I also think that Kesha  is telling the truth. Probably took her years to be able to talk about or even acknowledge the terrible and abominable things that happened to her. Since she was in rehab I imagine she got there the support and courage she needed to be able to finally tell her story.
    .
"The most incendiary allegations revolve around sexual abuse — specifically, how Dr. Luke allegedly forced her to snort illegal drugs and gave her "sober pills," which Kesha says were really a form of gamma-hydroxybutyrate, more commonly known as the date rape drug.
On one occasion, the lawsuit reports, "Ms. Sebert took the pills and woke up the following afternoon, naked in Dr. Luke's bed, sore and sick, with no memory of how she got there. Ms. Sebert immediately called her mother and made a 'fresh complaint,' telling her that she was naked in Dr. Luke's hotel room, she did not know where the clothes were, that Dr. Luke had raped her, and that she needed to go to the emergency room."

Here is the entire lawsuit with the court documents

Dr Luke says is a lie and all she wants is getting out of her contract.

Now Pebe, Kesha's mom, made public a email she send to Dr Luke where she mentions Lady Gaga as someone who will support Kesha's statement. In another words or Gaga saw - heard something or she was also a victim. This is beyond nasty tbh.

"We, me and Kesha and her friends, like Lady Gaga, are going to make all of this Really PUBLIC, in the next few days. Luke date raped Kesha when she was 18. Nicky Hilton's birthday? Paris Hilton's house? Luke gave Kesha pills. She ended up naked in his hotel room 2 days later. No longer a virgin?"

What a mess. Imagine the testimonies to this case? Everyone in pop 2007 plus...Rihanna, Miley, Katy Perry....I believe a man that gets away with such abominable actions for over 10 years wouldn't stop at just one victim, if all is true, this is one sick monster. I hope Gaga is just a testimony because imagine if he did that to her as well, or other girls? What a disgusting mess and for sure is not going to end well.

Bnewall1 - love your passion for Lana but saving a spot in line is not great concert etiquette. Depending on whether or not they let people in earlier, some people will have been there since the night before or early morning. Its not fair to make room for someone in front of the line for someone who is not "on-board." I have seen Lana 5 times and was front row for each one. That took travel time, packing nourishment, and above all else, getting there at 7am to secure my spot. There is a level of dedication that goes into securing that spot and if I am in that line, you can bet I will not allow making room for someone who is not "on-board."I've addressed it before and it was handled. Not trying to be a jerk - just want to be fair.

I can't make a Top 5 but these are my favorite performances:

"Blue Jeans" live at Le Grand Journal - She looked beautiful and her voice was flawless. It's such a powerful performance and her vocals in the last chorus >>>.

"Body Electric" live in Frankfurt (April 20th, 2013) - Everything about this performance is extremely haunting and sexy. Her dress, her voice, the stage, her sexy movements and, obviously, the song itself. I just love it so much.

"West Coast" live at Coachella Festival - You're right, this is one of her most haunting performances ever. The night was just so beautiful, the band were incredible and she was so excited and happy (+ she looked so fucking hot!).

"Video Games" live in Buenos Aires (November 14th, 2013) - My love for this performance is not because it was in my country, it's beyond that. First, her dress, her hair, everything, she looked like a doll! Her voice... wow... so touching. She was about to cry (she didn't but she cried during "National Anthem" though). The connection with the crowd was incredible, they were singing along every single word, it was lovely. AND, the "it's loving YOUUUUUU" in the end was

"Cola" live in Milan (May 7th, 2013) - I don't know what to say about this one tbh, I just love it so much. Beautiful dress, great vocals and awesome crowd.

Of course I have lots of favorite performances but these are incredible imo.

  15. PARADIXO liked a post in a topic by Jazzmin in Unpopular Lana Opinions
Seeing all those posts about Lana not being "lyrically wise" (I mean not only the last few in this thread but also the criticism toward Y&B and lots of posts in other threads) I cannot tell whether it's actually an "unpopular Lana opinion" . Not like I don't entitle you to your own opinion cuz I entirely do (especially if I sometimes agree at least to a limited extend) but just wondering if it doesn't turn out that in fact there are more people disliking Lana lyrics (as textual works, not regarded in their context) than those really cherishing them.

So if loving Lana as a songwriter is an unpopular one, here is mine:

There countless Lana songs that I find lyrically exquisite. To list but very few examples:

    She's Not Me:

"I'm the ghost in your mashine" - besides referring to philosophy (what itself makes the song more profound) Lana totally alters the whole concept. While orginally the term describes dualism in one person, Lana's use encompasses two of them. Translating this metaphore, it appears as "I'm [as a "ghost"] lingering inside your body ["mashine"] and no, I am not leaving". What it exactly means, we can surely argue but for sure she uses the philosophical concept to wrap with it the fact that her (ex-)boyfriend and she are binded.

And this intended change of an already existing term smells kinda Gainsbourg-like to me... but I guess that's too far-fetched?

I also love how she uses lots of slang expressions and idioms that literally are about death: "a ride or die bitch", the already mentioned "ghost", "dead and gone", "suicide blonde"... Crammed together, they add some thrill to those lyrics! Like there's something supernatural about it... I'm probably the only one to have such a weird association but the song matches some scenes of "Over Her Dead Body" where Kate, having died as Henry's fiancée, becomes a ghost and tries to hold back his new romance. The characters' aims are quite different in the romantic comedy film and in the song but I just want to point out that the concept of the ghost stalking her (ex?) partner fits quite well into the lyrics. Hopefully the movie helped me to illustrate it...

I know it's ridiculous to interpet it literally but it's beyond me, I feel haunted by my stupid ideas.

    Off To the Races:

The "Lolita" quote - "Light of my life, fire in my loins" is one of my favorite phrases ever, a pensive and good-sounding cluster of words (both because of the alliteration and its meaning).

OTTR is full of other colorful epithets such as: "my red nail polish", "his cocaine heart", "your black Cristal", "your little scarlet starlet", "a soul as sweet as blood red jam", "my tar black soul"... All those color words colorize the song Actually, I perceive OTTR rather as an image than words. Some will say that's kitch-like but to me it is not - it would be if she constantly described characters in the story only by hair color (like in poorly-written fanfiction like "the tar-haired girl said this, the tar-haired girl said that") but referring colors to intangible notions sounds at least a bit fresher to be and doesn't make me cringe.

And "scarlet, starlet" is alliteration again, if I'm not wrong? Another reason to love those lyrics!

Talking of colors, may I just mention one lyrics from Hundred Dollar Bill? I agree that "I'm in my party dress, he says you're such a mess" isn't the cleverest lyrics under the sun but "you turn my mood from black to blue" is a really well-thought phrase. It uses two adjectives which literally both mean colors but also mean certain moods... Reminds me Emilie Autumn's "my ocean is bluer than the heart you had to break".

I also think Lana can catch a lot of meaning in her similes: "life sweet like cinnamon, like a fucking dream I'm living in", "spinnin like a ballerina" (followed by "feelin gangsta" and that's why it's aww-some"), "like Jim Morisson", "when you talk, it's like a movie"... they tell more than non-poetic prose ever could tell!

Or simple repeted sentences from some AKA songs "I'm in love with a dying man / I have done everything I can" is enough to describe her whole mischief/distress connected with the situation. Such songs really call for your imagination, telling you very little but at the same time kindling your curiosity.

I know I'm an infinite bore to have posted my dull elaboration - but I just wanted to point out what indeed I see in Lana lyrics... Sorry if I'm too stupid to word my feelings... I am stupid :< .

And that I worship so many Lana lyrics doesn't necessarily mean I'm a fan of "You're disgusting, I'm delicious" .

I just read all the lyrics and they are sooooo good. I cannot wait. The interlude, all the flower imagery and metaphors, it's so perfect... Maybe her best songwriting yet.

I interpret it to be about how she's tired of waiting for the one to come along and tired of things not working out in her love life. She's in her prime and she want's to be "picked" before she gets too old.
