i'm not the one to usually complain, i try to stay as neutral as possible - but of all the things she could of posted, she gave a quick little shoutout to a tornado in nashville and then advertised some skin care products. i know her heart is in a good place but it's really disappointing, especially considering she has her poetry album as an obligation, would it be that hard to take a quick video and update us? even just to say that she's not ready to release it yet. she's so out of touch. honestly getting tired of the white california affluent mommy matcha blogger aesthetic it's so corny.

The guy who owned/worked in my local shop died from it a few days ago, he was still working like 2 weeks ago when I was in talking to him about football he worked there on his own mostly dailly for decades, worked there when my dad was a kid and moved into the area with his parents, quite sad - me and my cousins as young kids would go there all the time when we got money to buy toys and stuff he always had in the window and when I went to school we would stand inside if it was raining or something when waiting for the bus to come.

My cousin also has it, she works in a hospital but is pretty much fine just had minor symptoms like a cold and is recoving at home.

I don't really know old but not that old maybe 70 he never seemed fragile or overweight or nothing like that though he was healthy looking, I was shocked to hear he died as nobody even knew he had it. The whole community know him as he worked there for so long probably over 40 years but nobody really knew that much about him as he was Asian and didn't live in the area. People found out from the shop next door which has also similar asians who have worked there basically forever, his family must have let them know and they are still open and told everyone. Theres a lot of flowers and cards and notes and stuff left outside his shop.

I love the organic instrumentals, they let Lana’s voice truly shine. This will go down as her classic album. There’s nothing quite like it.

Guns and roses isn't even that bad, I feel like half the reason people don't like it is becuase it pales in comparison to UV, but then UV is very near the top of Lana's discog imo.

I live in ca and there were people rallying in huntington beach from what i heard on social media the other day. It's so frustrating.. like my god, LIVES are literally at stake, bc u can't control urself what is THAT..

I don't wanna get all political, but man I'm sorry that things are horrible there. I really can't relate bc of where I'm from but I can already imagine how infuriating it might be for u. They won't have much rights if they catch anything and end in the hospital like wtf does that need to be repeated over and over

please be safe... people. whew people. this isn't the time to be reckless if ever..

I'm from the town in S**th D*k*t* that homes the current Coronavirus hot spot in the US, and I can sadly confirm people are rallying against stay at home orders. Our governor is one of the few who refuses to declare a stay at home order, so our mayor tried to enforce one just for our city. People (a small group, but a group nonetheless) protested outside of city hall and now our mayor has suddenly changed their mind and will no longer seek to enforce a stay at home order. So basically, it's every man for himself in my state.

As you know, the country is still very conservative as a whole. That conservatism is 10x more intensified here in SD. People here see any kind of government order as aN iNfRinGeMeNt On ThEiR RiGhtS. People were calling our mayor a nazi, Hitler, etc. on local news pages when he was trying to enforce a SAH order. Yes, the same people who say "you can't call a white extremist a Nazi!!!" call a man asking people to do their part to stop the spread of a deadly virus Hitler. I wish I could help you understand these people, but I don't understand them myself.

This place is my home. It's the place that I grew up and have lived my whole life. It's where my family is. But the state is decades behind the rest of the country and this is just one example of feeling like I'm surrounded by people with completely opposite "values" as me. I'm toying with the idea of moving somewhere more progressive in the next 2 years.

Anyway, sorry for my ramble. I hope everyone is staying safe.

I've been a Marina fan since I was 9, so that's nearly 10 years now. I have to agree with people's critiques of L+F. It just felt so hollow and lifeless in comparison to the rest of her discog. Even though TFJ was raw and unpolished, it had a unique charm to it and a strong identitiy. Electra Heart told a strong story and the archetypes were more psychologically perceptive than anything on L+F- I remember the strong impact that album had on me. It created a sort of dark world, like Hollywood's underbelly and was a significant pop culture moment for Marina. And then Froot- although it's not everyone's favorite, I think most people can agree that the production was more complex and captivating than L+F. After hearing HH, and having been so long without any new music, I was so excited at the prospect of a new era. And then came SS and OT. I had a bit of a sinking feeling, but I told myself that perhaps fear would carry a more multifaceted, dark introspectiveness. And then I heard Life is strange, no more suckers (you mess up my towels...). I felt so let down. I felt like I had no idea who Marina even was anymore. I did have tickets to see her (mainly just got them for Allie X tbh) but got the flu, so I couldn't make it. It felt like fate as I knew in the back of my mind I would compare it to her past shows, and wouldn't fully enjoy it. Especially after having been to a Charli show a week before, the energy just wouldn't have been there.

Now, Marina's music will always be important to me and I don't want to criticize her evolving sonic preferences. None of her other albums sound the same, but they all sound like Marina. But L+F doesn't even sound like Marina, it sounds like someone who's searching for their identity and unsure whether they want to created something that will please others (label perhaps?) or themselves.

I hope her new album might be something a bit more authentic. Whatever she wants to make, if her heart is in it I'll listen. Just with L+F, I didn't hear any of the passion I had come to know of Marina.

I wouldn't say the production is "bad" per se. It's just a bit sterile. Not really taking any risks sonically, which isn't always necessary. But it doesn't sound very distinct. Like it could have been given to any other artist and I would've never thought anything of it. I wouldn't have hated it but I wouldn't have gone out of my way to listen to it. I wonder if a lot of us who've listened to L+F would revisit the album if it wasn't a Marina one.
