Tbh the entire "I don't owe you anything" and "I'm an artist and a free spirit so I do what I want" stuff is a little problematic. As an artist, your fans and ONLY your fans are the reason you have a career in the first place. In that way, all artists DO owe their fans a lot actually. It's still a business. You kind of have to cater to your supporters, at least a little bit. Doing the opposite of what your fans like repeatedly is not badass at all, it's just extremely unwise.

But fordham road, queen of the gas station, pawn shop blues, elvis, your band is all the rage and the end of the world are all over 10 years old. They're not the kind of songs she's doing anymore. PGICM is decidedly more yeehaw. Which I guess tells me that Lana on her own - okay. Lana with cowboy hat country singers - horrifique. Anyway the W Mag photoshoot and everything else didn't match that genre at all so I don't actually believe LDR9 is gonna be country eithe, also judging by the people she's apparently working with.

Genuine question, not trying to start an argument: How does it make anyone bitter if they simply don't enjoy country music? Lana fans mostly started being fans from 2012-2015/17. Some more during NFR. Most of us just didn't come for country, more like for the exact opposite. It's pretty logical to me that full-blown cowboy hat and boots yeehaw is not everybody's cup of tea here. If at all it'd have to be campy Dolly Parton style with big hair and glittery costumes.

Impossible to write down all of them! There's entire songs that are incredible from start to finish, especially from her Lizzy Grant days up to the masterpieces she wrote in 2013/14. Baby put on heart-shaped sunglasses cause we're gonna take a ride will forever be iconic and it always puts me in a good mood. I still love Diet Mtn Dew (demo 2) so much. It was the first non-single track of BTD I heard (the 2nd demo on Lana's YT channel) and I was so infatuated with the lyrics and vibes. I only drank Mountain Dew for a while because of that song. It's packed with iconic lines in general.

I think guitar has a different vibe that just matches her better. I can think of several incredible guitar songs instantly (Yayo AKA, You Mister, Fordham Road, Chelsea Hotel No2, Nectar of the Gods, Living Legend, UFB, Summer Wine, Yosemite, Pawn Shop Blues etc etc) but piano songs on that level? Idk. Most are boring to me.

Guitar is the key word here. Her guitar songs are so much better than the piano songs.

I love how it's a lot clearer in a smartphone live recording than in the actual studio recording lol she really loves to mumble. I guess the lyrics you suggested are correct then (although it also sounds like she says winner instead of winter which makes no sense but whatever)
