We don't know that. There's no way to peak into a hypothetical universe where Lana is ugly and see whether she's still successful or not. So there's no reason to come to conclusions like this. She definitely has played up her looks to make a certain persona, but who's to say thats all she has to offer? If she didn't have that going for her maybe she would have had other creative ideas
