The twitter hype and the public hate is kind of overshadowing it, but she definitely doesn’t not seem okay. Like you said, the allusions you’re Plath and the (possible) reveal of time in a mental hospital are not comforting. I said in another thread I suspect she might be having a “mid life crisis” (that term makes me cringe but it’s the only one I can think of). She wanted to be married and be a mother by now, and tbh she’s nowhere near there. So I think she’s definitely taking things hard.

Tbh I've seen lotsa stuff she's done with other artists or for other projects/businesses and like... some of it is actually good.
 
But the vast majority of what she's done with Lanz is just so plain, DIY and amateur through and through. Like she's nowhere near the level of artistry and perfection of someone like Neil Krug.

It's kind of depressing that we will spend three months talking about our hopes for an angry electric-guitar driven album with beautiful retro-inspired imagery just to be told the album is delayed, that Jack produced a watered-down NFR with the same type of lyrics, for critics to drag her through the mud, and for Chuck to be let out of her cage to splice together her inevitable "graphic design is my passion" attempt at a photoshoot.

Overall I agree with you BUT I just wanna say I feel like she did calm down a lot since 2016/17 but lately she's been in a more troubled phase again - thinking of the mother's day posts and everything... they weren't dramatic to the world but for a family that's a REALLY bad thing to happen. And she's writing about Slyvia Plath so much and how she relates to her. That doesn't really sound happy to me. I think something's troubling her again.

I think she’s kinda lost her spark tbh. Her other albums are so unique and powerful. No one but Lana Del Rey could make an album like Ultraviolence, for example.
 
Meanwhile NFR was just so plain, generic. Tbh I find it boring. I understand she’s matured and it would ridiculous to expect her to just do one thing her whole career. She was a troubled young woman during her early career and her music reflected that, now she’s calmed down a lot, and the music reflects that too.
 
BUT that doesn’t mean you can never make an exciting song again, Lana. The music used to literally give people goosebumps, it was so raw and lush and out there. Now it just sounds filler on an album made by any other alternative/country artist.

Yeah dude, like properly recorded and mastered balanced and atmospheric instrumentation and vocals are the absolute worst and most shallow aspects about Lana's albums pre-NFR. Don't you know?

I think she’s kinda lost her spark tbh. Her other albums are so unique and powerful. No one but Lana Del Rey could make an album like Ultraviolence, for example.

When she first put out the NFR tracklist my bear sank because I had already heard half the songs.
 
So far we know there’s a song called “Let Me Love You Like A Woman” and probably one called “White Hot Forever.” And she always has a title track of “Chemtrails over the Country Club” also.
