idk i personally see all of Portals being 100% disconnected from K-12 and Cry Baby the character.
if anything, id say the two storylines are co-existing on different planets at the same time. the whole Cry Baby is dead and is rebirthed into this pink faerie thing is too forced.

and now she’s just going with portals and said her next album isn’t going to be apart of a bigger story, i guess she scrapped her original plans as portals was being made?? idk but i wish we got portals as two albums, part one being the kinetics sessions as a “death” part of the project, and cjs as a “rebirth” type project,, bc i do like majority of these songs, released and unreleased 
but it is a shame to see all this great dark content from mel get swept under the rug,,, again,,,
still holding onto hope for the scrapped ep 😭

soooo tired of her victim complex, she’s dragging this narrative too much. She’s now worth millions and still finds a way to complain about her status. Literally she’s the most famous person I know that doesn’t have paparazzis following her around 24/7. That’s the best of both worlds if u ask me, like she gets the money and recognition of a celebrity while mantaining her privacy… yet she’s unhappy cause some of her songs get leaked and a unit of a fan asks for a picture.

As much as I love Melanie she is starting to become plain rude about her fans, first the hypocrisy about taking pictures of her and also how passive aggressive she is about it. She makes some of her fans into intense people pleasers with the way she is trying to get them to act. As much as I feel she deserves privacy she shouldn’t be ridiculing her fans who are devoted to her like this. She is playing the victim and trying to make her fans feel bad for obsessing over her and simply wanting to take a picture not even in a forceful way MOST of the time, constantly making fans feel bad for asking when new projects are happening

I love her and this album but I feel she's not very good at taking criticism… some people are just nasty and mean, but others actually want her to improve. I remember a lot of fans on Instagram not enjoying the Evil lyric video (agreed) and expressing that in the comment section, she seemed pretty upset. Wasn't even something she made herself, one of her long-time friends did though. She posted this on Instagram:


Anyways, the Tunnel Vision music video was cute, but it also bothered me a bit, because it reminded me of how Verde is a major hypocrite for the "people being people" photography thing—and Melanie is too for defending it, considering they've both complained about fans taking pictures of them (the same sentiment being echoed by the video). I know they were trying to prove a point with that but it was soooo hypocritical and awkward, they shouldn't be allowed to complain anymore after that.

I hope she ditches the over-personification aspect of her art.. it’s really dragging her down trying to make characters and timelines and all this extra SHIT that shouldn’t have to exist alongside the music.. look at Gorillaz. They release whatever they want and have a broad enough “ lore” to be flexible with it. Melanie just limits herself. All I can say is thank god nobody is letting her set another 2 million dollars on fire in front of a castle for a “film” this time around. Hell even her acoustic pre-debut work had more of a universal appeal but still drew from the same imagery and themes. It’s just crazy to me how some people can actually get worse at writing the older they get.

I still remember laughing at Melanie calling herself "probably the only artist on Atlantic with that many leaks" or something… mind you, she's under the same label as Charli XCX

TV deserved better and with less budget… I could imagine it going so many places but not the route she has taken… it makes 0 sense 

I hope she gets the hint and gives us an ep or album with the scrapped songs we wanted, like another user said they're much more spiritual and pull you more and immerse you vs most of the album losing it's meaning finding it then flying to another planet like wtf????

The first 30 seconds were amazing compared to the rest

i miss when her videos were manic yet interesting. she used to be puking on abandoned carousels and getting kidnapped, now she dances in a filthy frank suit around the woods. i will admit the video game theme was intriguing but i can't with the costumes anymore.

I Liked the ending. It was better than the whole music video. But the video overall was also better than VOID so I'll take it I guess.
Idk about you but I'm sick of her falling through all these portals. I get it. It's the whole album and it has meaning and it's supposed to feel tiring, but now I feel the pattern is boring and too on the nose already.
 
What's saving me my fan status is that Ive started paying real attention to all the Portals session outtakes, like Death (2020), Hawaii Space Guitar, Garden, Dragons Blood and Mother of Pearl. I'm seeing how beautiful, spirital and etheral this era could have been, and these songs pull me much more emotionally. But for some reason the songs she chose for the final cut make it seem less about the concept she's going for aesthetically and more about human crybabys life. Likes its been a mix up.

Why do these videos look so cheap? & I’m sorry y’all, I’m not one to usually say shit like this, but that suit makes her look HUGE, can’t wait for her next era in 2047 where hopefully we’ll get to see her face and bit more than just a pokey dance in front of a green screen
