I love this song soo much. It was also the first unreleased Lana song I remember hearing and maybe also one of my first Lana songs in general.
also the way she says Ladies and gentlemen For the very first time! is such a good touch and so satisfying

Back to tha Basics seems like it will be the next unreleased song to go viral from TikTok.. within the past two weeks, it has become a trend for people to show their “untouched” face / natural skin set to an audio of the chorus of this song. There’s also quite a few “fit check” videos set to the audio too. Right now there’s less than 5000 videos with the audio, but some of them have over 1 million views with the most watched video having nearly 8 million. I see this song becoming more viral as this trend continues x

I was just thinking this, it's wild that Mexico with its deeply rooted machismo culture still managed to get its first woman president before the U.S, who seems to be going backwards at full speed and Sheinbaum won by a landslide too, even when she was competing against a conservative woman and a man with relative popularity.
She's holding off congratulating him too, she says she's waiting for the counts to finish. I just know she's disappointed she didn't get to congratulate Kamala

It’s so interesting to see this happen in real time as a Canadian because, while obviously not American, I’m in the country that is the most culturally similar to the States. And it’s interesting to see, while people didn’t necessarily agree with everything Obama did, what his presidency represented for America’s social progress and the image that America imparted to the rest of the world. But now that feels like an exception to the American rule of politics, and perhaps what was always an ultra-conservative nation is now heading towards an extreme fulfillment of its form. The pendulum has swung back again and the line between cause and effect is blurry.

America exists as a paradoxical nation in so many ways, and to semi-outsiders like myself, it’s always going to both dazzle and dizzy me.

This sentence completely sums up politics actually. It’s so embarrassing. America is a straight up reality show

I still really want a woman as president  Hopefully next election there’s a woman candidate that isn’t awful & has a better chance at winning

I honestly don't think it will happen. Yes other countries have women leadership but thats because other countries have differing views on women to begin with. Yes we had a black man as a president and honestly I think that is as diverse as it will get for leadership here in America. If America wasn't ready for a white woman from the midwest, what makes us think that America was ready for a Blasian Woman from the west coast? I know that myself and a lot of us were ready in 2016 and yesterday for either, but if you just take a quick look at the election results map, it's quite evident that middle america is vehemently against the concept.

To be a woman in America, especially women of color, women that are outspoken, women that are educated, women that are strong, women that are independent... They are hated. They are vilified. They are crucified. They are shut down and beaten to submission. They are exiled. They are ultimately forgotten.

I think it’s possible. Maybe not the next election, but I don’t think never. Plenty of other countries have had women as leaders. Mexico elected their first woman president this past year. Obviously things are different there, but there’s a lot of misogyny from machismo beliefs. We had a president who is black for 2 consecutive terms in 2008 & 2012. I don’t think it’s unrealistic for a woman to be president here one day.
There needs to be a stronger candidate for it to happen. People didn’t trust Hillary and a lot of people weren’t a fan of Kamala to begin with.
