The movie is gonna be so bomb if it’s standalone from the album. We’re gonna get a good plot and dialogue finally!! I feel like we will get the album this year then, and a movie next year. I wonder what songs she’ll make music videos for. I can’t believe this will be her first album where every song doesn’t have a visual... wow

    She spoke briefly
The whole thing seemed so awkward though, literally looks like some Roblox knockoff. I think she said something about dropping a second NFT line? We just want the album we don't need more NFTs...

Some info from Melanie on the chatroom thing

    - "My goal is to make music videos for my favourite songs on the next album as well as a separate film that's just a movie"
    - "Album is 13 songs as of right now and I'll definitely do a deluxe"
    - "There are no features on the next album"
    - "The single is coming in Spring"
    - "Excited to put out music this year, can't wait for you to see all the fun stuff I've been working on"
    - "I'll probably put out the album before the film"

Kinetics & One Love deserve a Grammy for these songs. Hard AF beat fucking slaps  I really hope March Piano makes it as an interlude or maybe for the movie soundtrack. It's so eerie I love it. Also, if they don't turn Fairy Dance and Mercury into fully finished songs there will be consequences

I need you guys, anyone, even if you don't listen to her music. Spread #FreeKesha as much as you can! Instead of absentmindedly streaming an EP produced by her abuser, you could start spreading awareness more often. This has been going on far too long and will continue unless people start speaking up! This should be taken just as seriously as the #FreeBritney movement but it's not whatsoever! The manipulation and abuse in the music industry will only get worse from here if we don't continue to take these things more seriously; that goes for every artist who has suffered or is dealing with this now. We cannot stay silent about this until these issues are fully resolved!

Agree with you here, you’re absolutely right. I’m all for open dialogue and disagreements unless it’s a topic like rape? Like seriously, what is there to disagree on? Kim is a bad person for working with a rapist and if you disagree there’s really no discussion needed to be held. It’s like if you disagree in any way I don’t think highly of you at all and I’m not sorry to say it

Also my last post here. I’m just gonna stop talking about Kim and hope she falls off after this whole drama  Sorry to anyone who I might’ve offended. I’ll continue browsing the non-argument side of Lanaboards like usual.

Stop using this "cancel culture doesn't work" bs. Nobody sane in this thread expects every person on the planet to stop streaming her music, we are calling her out on her bullshit. Also, this is us talking on Lanaboards which is a very small website compared to other social media. I don't think we're bringing that much attention to the situation to people who don't already know about it. And would you rather us say...nothing? Also, outrage does work and can make change. If we let it slide that she works with Dr. Luke, more artists will be comfortable working with him and start giving him a platform to hurt more women. Even if it does give her more attention in the short run, in the grand scheme people will just remember her as a rape apologist who chose money over morals, it's not like her getting attention for working with a rapist is giving her a core fanbase  Sure, she can continue her career all she wants but that by no means says it will be as successful as it could be if she wasn't known for being problematic. Building a career on controversies doesn't work well in the pop music industry especially as a female, maybe YouTube and TikTok would be a better place for her if that's what she's into. Idc if you stream her music illegally, but don't get mad at us for discussing and criticizing her decision to support rapists publicly.

If Kim signed a contract before the shit about Luke came out, people wouldn't be mad with her. The problem is that she CHOSE to work with him knowing his past and mentions the names of people who spoke up about him (positively or not) in songs produced by him/indirectly calls them liars. I feel like you guys are just choosing to not read the thread and are instead just going off of "b-but other songs are made by Dr. Luke!" Like yes, we know...nobody is saying that we should stop streaming EVERY song he produced. It's more about making the decision to not support the artists who continue to willingly work with him knowing that he's a literal rapist and calling his victims liars. She is being "held accountable" and has been for years yet no change has been made and according to her best friend, that change will never happen since she loves the attention it brings.

By continuing to support Kim Petras and other artists like her, you are supporting the countless men in the music industry who think they can do shit like Luke and get away with it and you are proving them right. Stop letting shitty people get away with doing shitty things.

I've been obsessed with the Ultraviolence demo for the past week. Her voice and the soft instruments are so calming yet the song has such a dark, sad feeling. I prefer the final version ofc, but this one has its own beauty as well

7 years later and I am STILL not over this album and I don't think I'll ever be. It's like impossible just to play 1 song I need to hear the whole album anytime I listen.
Cruel World is her best opener

You're acting as if Melanie was breaking into her fan's houses and robbing them of everything they own  Melanie is not broke, but that doesn't mean she's not allowed to explore different ways to make money. It's kinda the whole point of marketing as an artist. If you don't wanna spend $200 on a bracelet, then don't. Nobody is forcing you to. A lot of fans think the prices are fair and bought them within literal seconds of being posted, so obviously there was a market for them. I mean, imagine your favorite artist making a 1 piece custom item that only you own. I think it's similar to how artists sell signed CDs, it's true that anyone could grab a pen and copy their signature but the fact that it's autographed by someone's favorite artist is what makes people interested and what makes them so expensive.

Melanie also had sessions scheduled with Emily Warren (Soap, Wheels on the Bus, Strawberry Shortcake etc) for the new album btw  not sure if that happened yet

Why won't she sign some K-12/AS/CB CDs and put them on her webstore? I would definitely be interested in buying those! Plus it would get sales up. Hope she does this for her next album

And side note: Are the After School CDs available in the USA yet? I bought mine second hand when they first came out so I never checked. But that would be a good way to gain some revenue or maybe a physical edition of Copycat/Fire Drill?

Snail Mail is the American indie rock solo project of guitarist and singer-songwriter Lindsey Jordan (born June 16, 1999). Originally from Ellicott City, Maryland, Jordan first performed as Snail Mail live in 2015 at the age of 15, and attracted attention with the EP Habit in 2016.

After signing with Matador Records, Snail Mail released her debut studio album, Lush (2018), to critical acclaim.

In 2021, Snail Mail followed up with her second album, Valentine, to further critical recognition.
