xcx world would’ve tanker if it was her 3rd album. the album would’ve been gorgeous but the geepee were not ready to pay attention to that style of music in 2016. she would’ve flopped and been stuck in label hell for ages. she was right to discard it and move onto the mixtapes, they helped to further cement her artistry and gain a ton of critical & fan goodwill

also hey boy hey girl is supposed to be on the album because my great grandmother's aunt's friend's cousin's nephew's dog's parasite's boss' acquaintance who is an insider said so

I just personally think that the album would have bombed, clearly the mixtapes helped her reform a fan base as well as gain some critical acclaim. But you could see how cautious the label were about the third album following After The Afterparty and Boys. Let's be honest we only got Charli cos of 1999. 
 
I think the XCX World album would have lead to her being dropped or forever being held in label purgatory (cos she's a writer) and we'd probably still be living in a world of monthly drops or EPs. With no budgets for music videos etc. 
 
As much as I love that record I don't see any of the songs becoming hits at that time and they probably would've haulted promotion to save money.

I relistened to Charli in full yesterday and the middle is so boring, starts off so strong then just dips 

While I disagree with at least 90% of your music takes, especially in regards to new shapes(my favorite song on the album), I do agree you’ve shat on it consistently.
 
and I truly don’t mean this in a rude way— but whenever I feel self conscious about sharing one of my takes, I always see one of your posts and think “wow what I’m about to say isnt* nearly as tasteless as that” and then I get the courage to press submit. A great reminder of how it’s all completely subjective.

it obviously would've flopped but it's a very solid pop album and it's got a lot of bops (Taxi, Bounce, Waterfall, etc.) 

I'm pretty sure she was considering Blame it On Your Love, Bounce, White Mercedes, and Would You. She had also been performing Party Party live back in 2018 so maybe that too?
 
She rehearsed BIOYL for the Reputation tour and played it at her listening sessions- I vaguely remember something about the Girls Night Out cover originally belonging to BIOYL but don't quote me on that lol. WM and WY were recorded in early 2018 and played at her listening sessions along with songs like NA/1999/BIOYL

like can we just take a moment to acknowledge that this thread is a few months under a decade old and the amount of music we have gotten from her and the journey as a whole has been such a wild ride and im so proud of her like truly not many artists get to have a journey like this when they're on a major label and i really speaks to her resiliency as an artist and her work ethic. Idk not to be corny but I feel like i've grown up with her since finding her in 2012, it feels so good to watch her have this great moment i'm truly so proud!!!!!!
