so much misogyny in this thread and im still struggling to understand exactly why people hate her this much 

the BUTTERFLY hate is so ridiculously forced, it's not her best song ever but you dont have to act like it's an utter disaster and bully her just because her music no longer meets your expectation. Besides that, the song is not that bad yall need to chill, its a fun cute, little bop to groove while you're stressed as fuck, like its not that deep but so what? Why does everything have to be deep? Let the woman release fun, easy listening pop music, like come on.

try to give the upcoming era a chance. admittedly her more recent albums have been on a much different level than her first 3 albums, but is the excessive amount of hate for the song really necessary? butterfly can be criticised in so many ways but it's a genuinely fun song and an improvement from a lot of the songs on love + fear. the lyricism isn't the best but it's the first single, i doubt it's going to be the best-written song on the entire album. the visuals, the sound, the production, and even the marketing are great. i'm not saying you can't dislike the song, but to dismiss an entire era because of the first single is an exaggeration in my opinion.
 
also seperate the art from the artist. even if you dont enjoy the song, or the writing, or the era just isn't clicking for you, attacking her personal life, experiences, and relationships which she's been vulnerable enough to share is just not a respectful thing to do. you can express your dislike to a song all you like, but refusing an entire album you haven't even heard and bullying her is just hate at that point. it's music, there's no need to take it so seriously. it'll naturally resonate differently with everyone

As in what I think about all of this, I’m not surprised at all. The healthcare in the US is HORRIBLE. You have to basically pay for air, while you get free care almost anywhere else like Canada and the UK.

I’ll be honest, I don’t love the snippet of the single. I think the high-pitched vocal part is throwing me off, but her normal operatic vocals in it sound gorg as always. However, you can only tell so much from a short snippet, so I’m still looking forward to the song as well as the album as a whole! I trust that she knows what she’s doing and know that regardless of what the singles look like, that there will be songs on the album that I’ll love as she’s my second favourite artist behind Lana mostly due to her writing and unique creativity. I’ll also say just in general with any artist’s album, I tend to favour the album tracks rather than the singles. I did actually really love all of Ancient Dreams’ singles though, but with Froot & L+F there were only a couple singles from each that I really loved, and then favoured more of the deeper album cuts. Overall, this is my ranking of her albums so I’m interested to see where this new one will fall:

I really hope she keeps Guardian, I Pray for Rain, Descending, All My Lovers Die & Innocent Kind.
These songs are too good for not being on Digital Platforms. It isn't late to release Guardian with that promised music video AND ALL WOULD BE FORGIVEN!!
Plus, if we ain't getting the album, release a damn EP it would be great for her.
