Shades of Cool is a genius song, I don't understand the hate it gets on here sometimes. That bridge is literally the perfect amalgamation of an angelic heaven and a fiery hell and the lyrics are so vulnerable and her voice sounds so perfect and same with all those guitars omg

Tbh I could see this too... there is absolutely no way her label would pay for such a supposedly high budget video with amazing visuals if the song itself wasn't radio-friendly. I mean, the song "Hello" by Adele is an example of a song that has similar organic, non-electronic sounding instruments to what Eclipse described from the songs and also did extremely well in the charts and got played on the radio all the time, so I think it's definitely possible for Lana to write a radio friendly song with guitars, drums and I'm assuming other "neutral" sounding instruments. I doubt it will be a full-on pop song, obviously, but it could still do well. This is the first time since BTD that her label seem to have confidence in her again.

honestly I don't even remember how Bat's Mouth sounds, I guess it just never really stood out to me yet. Will have to give the album another few listens lol. I've only been a fan for like a couple of months so excuse my opinions, they're still forming A lot of my all-time favorite songs took a long time until it finally hit me how fantastic they are.

Anyone else heard these rumors yet?? Not sure of the validity or reliability of this user as a source but surely it came from somewhere, right? Of course there's always a good chance someone just completely made this up, but I have to say... it kinda makes sense and I could definitely see Melanie doing something like this. After all, she did say the next album was going to be about the people who lived in Cry Baby's town, and this rumor could totally fit right in with that if each song is about different people in the mental institution. I'm actually really excited if this is what she has planned for the second album, this is such a creative idea and I would love to see different songs about different mental illnesses (hopefully it wouldn't be too cringeworthy though, however I trust Melanie is sensitive enough to be respectful when dealing with a discussion on mental disorders). Mental illness is such a prevalent issue in society and unfortunately there is still a lot of stigma surrounding them, so I'd totally be down for an album like this if it's handled respectfully (and doesn't sound like something a twelve year old white girl wrote on tumblr in her spare time ) Plus, the whole baby thing, as creative as it was, would probably get really old if recycled the same way on a second album. (And she'll probably run out of toy and accessory names to use as titles soon )

agreed! I think it's an interesting interpretation viewing it as Lana singing to Lizzy, or vice versa, but at the same time I really think there's almost no evidence that this could even be the case, plus some songs kinda have no relevance to that theory, like Music to Watch Boys To, Art Deco, and so on.

Bat For Lashes is such an amazing artist! I am officially IN LOVE with The Bride, it's already one of my top played albums of all time. As I said earlier on this thread, The Bride was the first BFL album I listened to and I had always loved it since first play, but I was trying to get into her other material. I ended up listening to Fur and Gold second since it was her debut, and I wanted to see the progression from the first to the Bride. I really like this album, but at the same time, I think this will probably be the album I end up listening to the least, for some reason. My faves at the moment are Trophy, What's a Girl to Do?, The Wizard, Prescilla, Tahiti, Sad Eyes, and Trophy (ok, so pretty much the first half of the album lol). The last 5 songs are ok but personally so far I think the album declines in quality towards the end (possibly an unpopular opinion??). Hopefully these last few tracks will grow on me a bit more the more I listen to the album. Next (after Fur and Gold) I listened to The Haunted Man. I have to say, I was in love with every track first play (unfortunately I can't say the same about Fur and Gold - I liked all the songs but they weren't all instantly enjoyable like this album). I saw in a few places that apparently THM is her worst album, but for me personally I think it's brilliant. Lilies is probably her best song ever, I LOVE LOVE LOVE what she does with her voice on this track. But literally every song on this album is brilliant. I am yet to listen to Two Suns... only because I've heard it's often regarded as her best album, so I decided to save it for last. I hope it will blow me away.... the cover art certainly has, so hopefully the songs will be good. So, so far... my ranking of her albums goes: The Bride > The Haunted Man > Fur and Gold but tbh all of them are great! I will let y'all know what I think of Two Suns once I've given it a few listens.

You know, I could definitely see that happening considering that she said a while back that this album is more "inner dialogue", which sounds like discussing things that are more internalised and within (so probably not external experiences with a lover this time). I'd actually love a more personal album that's more about herself than a lover. I mean, I absolutely adore her sweet, romantic love songs and her wild, explosive songs about crazy experiences with men she's met... buy BOY do we have a lot of them already, lol! I like how in songs like Old Money, Fine China and even High By The Beach (there are more examples, these are just the first few random songs that came to my mind), she has a few lyrics that relate more to herself rather than another person. Lyrics like "yet still inside I felt alone, for reasons unknown to me" / "I've always been a woman of faith, strong like a tree, but the unlucky one" / "Lights, camera, acción, I'll do it on my own, don't need your money to get me what I want".... and so on. These are some great lyrics in my opinion and I'd love to see more like these on LDR5.

Look, thank you for all of the material and info you've given us throughout your time on this board. But you have to admit that you are the one and only cause of all the drama going on in this thread right now. And don't say that it is US users that make all the mess on this thread when you "share some stuff", the mess only appears when you go around saying "oh look at me ladi-da-dee! I have all these unleaked songs oh and heres one lyric from the song, and heres a 10 second snippet. enjoy! look at me! i'm sharing!"..... honestly people have said it here a million times before but if you're not going to share the whole song then don't share anything at all because all you ever do is create more and more drama and mess... it's simply inevitable, people get salty when you only release tiny snippets or one-line lyrics and surely you know that by now after witnessing this time after time I'm sure that I speak for everyone when I say that we truly appreciate the things you have shared in full, and the info you've provided over time, but tbh we are all sick of the way that you parade around "sharing" hundreds of useless snippets just for attention. And every post you make, I swear you just want more attention. And the fact that you have supposedly been selling Lana's unreleased material, that is just DISGUSTING if that is the case. Not only is it illegal but it's highly disrespectful to Lana and all of the musicians, producers and writers who have actually created the songs then you come along and try to make a profit off of something that you had absolutely no part in creating. And another thing, if Lana "implored" you and begged you to not share anything and to keep info to yourself, then why did you come running straight back to this forum to brag about what she told you? As much as I loved getting the info about LDR5 its disappointing knowing that you've directly gone against what Lana asked of you, as I'm sure she wouldn't want us to know this info. Hopefully there won't be much more drama leading up to the release of the album, but I'm afraid that its unlikely that that will be the case.

Coming in here to be sheltered from the mess of the LDR5 meltdown pre-release thread that was literally the most iconic moment of her career for me... it was such a spiritual experience listening to such a beautiful angelic song like that to start the new year. on another note, I had ANOTHER dream about Marina's next album and thinking back now, it was HILARIOUS! Basically the lead single was a cover of the Meghan Trainor song "Dear Future Husband" except she had changed half of the lyrics to be about the music industry and how messy her career has been. and in the music video, she was just dancing around like a hippie on someone's front yard, smelling flowers and stuff, lol. and she was in these ugly ass overalls and had her hair in a bun. it was so random and dear god, at least whatever she actually releases will be better than this mess

Tbh I don't think it's even a problem if she works with Rick... she's been doing that since like forever and so many great songs have come out from sessions with him... West Coast, TV in Black & White, Shades of Cool, Is This Happiness, Summertime Sadness, Young & Beautiful, Cola. Personally I'm fine if she keeps working with him as long as other people are brought into the mix as well! Honeymoon is a lovely album but we've had it once and we don't want it again, and if she works with ONLY Rick again then it's just going to be HM 2.0. I'm confident though that with the right mix of producers she will create an amazing album. At this point we know that Lana can write good songs. What really defines the album is the production and hopefully she's aware of this and has chosen a good assortment of people to create a new, fresh sound!
