Honeymoon - Pre-Release and Discussion Thread

So the single was #1 for most of the week on ITunes, and they don't count that? Does that mean those will count next week? If so, the new methology of singles is all screwed up. Singles were suppose to keep the old method, albums the Friday. With the chart going live Tuesday Could billboard not have a clue as to what counts when? -
@- this reeks It is almost unheard of and it is akin to rape. It makes suspect every single number on every single chart The headline that Lana was #7 still was there 10 minutes ago on the main page (probably shortly they will change it) Lana must have massively irritated someone the wrong way again FUCK BILLBOARD like how the Oscars ripped her off nominating something that was quickly disqualified while Young and Beautiful didn't get a nomination because that took her place
-
Lana should put out an edit of the Video and have the picture floating down from the sky be a copy of Billboard magazine FUCK THEM.

That makes 8 songs in the Hot 100 3 bubbling under= 11 total charters Video games #91 Young and beautiful #22 Summertime Sadness #6 West Coast #18 Shades of cool #79 Ultraviolence #70 and 3 bubbling under including Once upon a dream Brooklyn Baby 8 songs on the Real Time Twitter top 140 including the #1 honeymoon and #4 high by the beach to go along with the 4 on the Top 200 albums (some are considered ep) but on the official charts it is all the same #1 ultraviolence #2 born to die #20 lana del rey (EP) #10 paradise -
So this puts Lana with Britney Spears in 2 female artists who got their #s removed because the powers that be didn't like it. (Britney had a #1 taken away for a reflex move that values males over females). Something very suspicious of this. In more than 100 years of charts, this has only happened twice.

leaked version- that makes you leap for joy doesn't. Why don't you go on a site of artist you like. This would put Lana and Britney Spears together. In that both had charts taken away to appease the powers that be. Not bad company to be in. (Britney had a #1 taken away by a spur of the moment chart fix after the fact) Haters are always haters. I bet the haters love this (see this thread for all those hoping Lana would get screwed, same people (plus newbees) time and again -

248,000 sold downloads 2.4 million streams the Hot 100 is a blend of many different facets, airplay on a new single almost always comes later Deubts at #7 on the big chart (the Hot 100) and #1 on the digital songs chart according to billboard.com in a story solely focusing on the Top 10 of the Hot 100 with the title Omi back to #1 Lana Del Rey debuts at #7 -

leave it to the negative Nellys to suggest it didn't happen.(but they will quote it and get others to repeat it so it will be the focus/hijack of a happy event in the attempt to make it a negative) well.... Sorry to disappoint the negative nellies and Debbie downers, Lana now has 2 American Top Ten Singles. and for all time, in Billboard's pages, it is permanent cannot be erased. 2 American Top Ten Singles- More than Joni Mitchell or Kate Bush or Leonard Cohen or Bob Dylan or the Grateful Dead or Lou Reed or Courtney Love or Harry Chapin or Nina Simone or The Runaways or thousands of others ever had in America (and everyone of the names mentioned are cooler than cool, and legendary superstars) (note- with the news that billboard grasped away that which it gave, Lana still has as many Top 10s as all the above artists who have one, or one more than those who only have one (Harry Chapin, Bob Dylan) (Joni had a top 20, Grateful Dead Top 20, Lou Reed Top 20). -

Concept albums are like operas. (some are called rock operas, but both names convey the same thing.) A connection from 1st song to the finale in a specifically placed order and where most songs are almost meaningless unless heard in the order presented telling the story (What is Elton's "Someone saved my life tonight", if one didn't know the entire album and the meaning of the album "Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy" Out of Elton's 40 or so albums, 3 were concept. Bowie had 2 concept albums Beatles had Sgt. Pepper's but none of the others (before that most rock/pop/soul were single based and people bought 45s more than albums) Beach Boys Pet sounds was. All their other albums were a few singles and filler. The Monkees album "Head" was a concept album, but none of the others Stevie Wonder Songs in the Key of Life The legendary Klaus Nomi transcends the barriers between rock and opera and concept albums. There is a reason Lana says Ultraviolence starts with Cruel World and ends with The other woman (and the rest are bonus hits.) Most of the 300 plus songs not on records that Lana wrote are not part of concept albums, they are songs (and why most of the more recent are not part of any album itself.) Ultraviolence would have been regardless of the using of Dan Auerbach for production If one don't see it, one don't see it. That's my opinion. It's a story. Without one song, it would be like a chapter was missing. -

@@KillKillQueen I disagree totally Lana releases stuff as finished. Why wait? BTD and Paradise and Ultraviolence were indeed concept albums And Paradise is for all intents a stand alone (it even got a nomination for best rock album ) that it was labeled an ep was for technical reasons I guess (and it increased the sales of Born to die because many bought Paradise that way I think this time she thought why bother doing that and didn't. Paradise stands alone from 1 to 8 (and is better than BTD) and Ultraviolence is better than both of them (I do believe Ultraviolence will be one of the Top 25 albums of 2010-2020 on critic choice decade awards She does what she wants and doesn't care about money. Freedom from money makes for artists that last forever The change in the one line from High on the Beach from Put me in a movie aka Little Girls after "Lights camera accion" says it all. What she might have needed in 2008, she don't now. as for artistic? Nothing could be more artistic than West Coast/Brooklyn Baby/Shades of Cool back to back to back. I have never heard 3 different songs more perfect and perfectly suited next to each other (and then she does Sad Girls/Pretty when I cry) and tops it off with Old Money/The Other woman" Yes, Ultraviolence was a complete concept album and how one can say Ultraviolence songs all sounded alike when they were at least 6 different musical styles that's my opinion. -

Said it before- I believe Honeymoon will be the start and the end of the proper album. Perhaps the end a coda, or the beginning just a prelude. A loose, surreal Lynchian nightmare world of Hollywood with redemption or solution by the end. The video/lyric released when it came out itself is like that Like most of her records so far, a concept album as they used to call it. (Like Elton John did with his mega Captain Fantastic and Goodbye YellowBrick Road albums.)- BTD, Paradise, Ultraviolence all have been. -
Lana's LA House Broken Into - And New House
graham4anything replied to AKA Lizzy Grant's topic in Latest News
Shit, going back and re-reading this thread, after the release of the video for High by the beach- is that house the house in the video? Which means they were just there for this video and one of the comments above is ironic -
Billboard over Mel's Diner. That alone is so 1940s 1950s 1960s Hollywood Lana herself probably drives by there five times a week Like how Marilyn and Bette and Joan had all those billboards decades ago. Nothing is more Hollywood than that. so its symbolism on top of symbolism The video rails against being her privacy being broken into to by the paparazzi and media, while the billboard is probably going to be seen by those millions driving by (with Lana looking at me looking at you) It don't get any cooler and to the point. and the negative nelly's and Debbie downers say Lana never does anything (sarcasm)

Gun=camera fishbowl looking in, looking out looking in Lana's dress getting caught, reminded me when Lana gently so into the song, she slightly bumped her nose into the microphone in the cover of the Kasabian song Goodbye Kiss in the live BBC lounge I could very easily see the video being nominated for video of the year at the Grammy's and the other award shows. Eventually they will be forced to give her awards, and she should not have to campaign to get them.

Just finished watching it a bunch of time. Cool video. Flat out telling people that her space is her private space and she doesn't wish intruders (that being the press, the paparazzi, stalkers, those that wish she would do this or that or be Rihanna or be Beyoncé or be something she is not to go fuck off. Flat out saying she wants to be able to live her life without being spied on. Doesn't want to live in a cage like Elvis or Michael Jackson The National Enquirer makes it sure what she means (at least in the video) It's what I said in the past - The artist paints the picture and the painted picture is the basis for everything else. (the singer sings the song, writes the song) The rest of it is people who get rich selling it, and think they are better than the artist, yet without the artist, they are nothing (from managers to record companies to agents to hanger-ons to publicists telling an artist they have to do this or that An artist can always sing or write or act and it matters little to an artiste' whether or not they make money (especially as she don't need money) The others should be lucky they are in the artist's world. (and is also saying, if some days she is in a bad mood or doesn't feel well, she doesn't want to have to pretend. A take me as I am either like it or leave it. (and she doesn't mean she would literally do the ending it is only symbolic) That is pretty cool. I like the different connections with James Franco. and to add- this is somewhat like her direct response in I fucked my way (where she didn't fuck her way, but she is throwing it in her face "I'm a dragon you're a whore," and mimicking me's a fucking bore, to me" and similar in "Money, power" where she doesn't actually want it but the people think she is just one of the millions of others who try to attain it. that's what makes her unique to everyone else.

Hope it's surreal like the very stylish Ultraviolence video was (though I know many here don't seem to either like it, or they didn't get it). mixed in with a West Coast/Shades of Cool. The wrap-around of Honeymoon still makes me think this whole album is going to be a Lynchian type Sunset Blvd/Mulholland Drive into hell with redemption or solution at the end With that damn big gun, though, it could go into James Bond like territory, which perhaps is a subtle wink wink that not only should Lana sing the theme from Bond, she should be, hell, no, not a Bond Girl, Lana should be James Bond herself. (who said Bond had to be a boy?) She is cooler than Bond anyhow. Lana won't have a duet with this. In actuality, this is a solo song. A second person would make no sense in the lyrics Perhaps James Franco in the video getting high on life and stuff together

On Billboard, a song can get into the Top 20 with zero airplay the first week, then the airplay kicks in and it reclimbs the charts later on Its strange, this is a song Brian Wilson could sing a cover version of (high doesn't necessarily have to be about drinking or drugs...high could mean, get the problems out of my face and let me enjoy myself on the beach, in the water, etc. On Billboard, a song can get into the Top 20 with zero airplay the first week, then the airplay kicks in and it reclimbs the charts later on Its strange, this is a song Brian Wilson could sing a cover version of (high doesn't necessarily have to be about drinking or drugs...high could mean, get the problems out of my face and let me enjoy myself on the beach, in the water, etc. high on life

If radio is picking it up, it means it is being given to radio The timing for the Weeknd duet couldn't be better (assuming the duet is a single) IF that becomes a single (though even if not and everyone knows about it), that duet could be her ticket for vocal event of the year at next year Grammy's (which is what I think they call it as it is not a regular duo).
-
I mean timing of the continuous story that flows from the early days to Born to die to Paradise to Honeymoon High on the beach seems time wise to flow in the story like a prequel to West Coast (not when she wrote it, but time line) Lana had said it would harken back to the story of BTD/Paradise and Ultraviolence mixed in Who the person is, be it Barrie, be it "Jim" from the other songs is also important in knowing. (Was it Barrie talked about in West Coast "leaving you for the moment"?) And the money part. That would let out Barrie, though perhaps fans asking her to be something they want and she doesn't might be the reference saying she isn't in it for the money and she will do as she damn pleases without worrying what this person or that person might say (aka leave me alone all I want to do is get high on the beach)

Wow the board works again. Lana is #1 on ITunes for 3 days now #1 on the twitter chart the new charts on billboard will be released Next Tuesday the 19th that will include High by the beach IMHO- High by the beach should be situated time wise, right after Paradise, and right before West Coast West Coast would appear to be the sequel to High by the Beach Great song taking her again to unique places no one else singing today goes to

as for repeated use of words/memes/ etc- That is a positive thing. That is a good thing. Why make it into a negative? That is a tenet T.S. Eliot used all the time. Not to shabby to be the modern day T.S. Eliot, don't one think? When one hears Lana singing a Lana song, one immediately knows it's Lana. Every person behind Lana is like every person in a Conga line after the leader. Lana in effect is Sgt. Pepper leading the band of imitators As for leaks- if one doesn't want to hear a leak, DON'T. And anyhow, if one does, so what? Come the official release buy it play it click it stream it repeat repeat That way one can have it count officially. Seems a no-brainer to me

the acustic version of West Coast. It's like Simon & Garfunkel's early Sounds of Silence and later electric version 1964/1965 then 1967/1968/1969 or the two versions of Light my fire The doors and Jose Feliciano

Don't quote it. Quoting it means it shows up continuously with everyone who quotes it.
