She performed a song called 'My God' last night! 'Kalim' and 'Travis' were on the setlist too, but she did not perform them sadly.

Remember how (when explaining the meaning behind Alphabet boy) she was talking about not following the 'formula' and 'rules' of making a song? Well it seems to me like she threw all of that out the window for K-12 because the formula of those songs are the epitome of generic.
And if she thinks adding some unexpected noises here and there like random background banging, telephones ringing, writing on a chalk board, coughing, sneezing and scraping makes her production more improved/genius and her best work yet, well.... i don't think she understands what her fans loved about her first album so much.
Crybaby was cohesive in the way that it made such a good story and each song was so individual, even the instrumentals themselves told a story. Highlights of that album were... every second of every song tbh, and I remember having to take it slow getting to know the album cause it was all so good I couldn't handle it.
But with K-12 it's cohesive in the way that we can't even remember certain instrumentals from the album, and the highlights of the album are what? one or two songs that still don't match the production she used to have?
I hope we do get the K-12 instrumentals though, cause I'm begging for something to change my mind. I want to do a full on analysis of the album like I usually do but I feel like I just don't have enough to go on. This album hasn't been enough for me:/

Its not a 100m dollar production.. it was a movie by a singer making her 2nd album, literally doing what the other girls can't. One of the most ambitious projects I've seen in pop music for a WHILE.

SERIOUSLY, WHY WAS IT NOT ON THE ALBUM
EVEN A JAPAN BONUS IDC
When my movie finishes downloading, I'm gonna extract it for myself
Why would she not include a flawless song like that?

I'm kinda excited as she's one of the few singers who puts on an artistic persona & puts an effort, both in music & visuals (Lana & Marina gave that up to create PeRsOnaL & H0nEst music)
Although I wish she didn't go for the adult baby thing for the new era... it feels a little creepy to me after what happened.

The criticism I've seen so far is not the sound of this album though. If anything I've seen only praise for the production. The criticism is in the songwriting and the forced concept. Theres no concept no matter how hard she tries to explain it, the lyrics are pedestrian to say the least and the melodies are weak. Is this a good pop album? Sure, if someone like Ava Max or Rita Ora released this no one would bat an eyelash. But as a Marina album, this is not it.

This album is a serious downgrade. I don't enjoy it at all, I'm sorry... Sis I waited 4 years for this??
Only songs I'm keeping are To be human, EOTE, Believe in Love, and Emotional Machine.
I'm glad some ppl are enjoying it but this is such a letdown.

biggest disappointment of 2019 musically for me I'm sorry if I'm being too harsh but that 4 year wait rlly had me fooled that she was crafting something next level especially travelling to japan and taking psychology courses etc but damn this record makes froot look like a indie masterpiece. This record sounds like it'd be played on loop at a tj maxx or something like department store filler music like these melodies and instrumentals feel like I've heard them 1000 times before, the best songs are EM, believe in love and enjoy your life

Just here to say I listened to Fear finally and You is an abomination
Edit: as a massive fan of Marina I am kind of taken back by how much I haven’t enjoyed this album. It’s so lacklustre in comparison to the personality I previously loved her for...
