How to Disappear

John met me down on the boulevard

cry on his shoulder

cuz life is hard

the waves came in over my head

whatcha been up to, my baby?

haven't seen you 'round here lately

all of the guys tell me lies,

but don't you just crack another beer

and pretend that you're still here

this is how- to disappear

this is how- to disappear

Jim met me down at the training yard

with cuts on his face cuz he fought too hard

I know he's in over his head

but I love that man like nobody can

he moves mountains & makes them into ground again

and I watch the guys gettin' high

as they fight for the things that they hold dear

to forget the things they fear

-

this how they disappear

this how they disappear

well now its been years since I left New York

and i got a kid and two cats in the yard

the California sun and the movie stars

and I watch the skies getting light as I write

as I think ab those years

n' I whisper in your ear

i'm always going to be right here

no ones going anywhere

i'm always going to be right here

no ones going anywhere

I know this sounds like a very serious sad and beautiful and melancholic and nostalgic song but the beer line immediately made me thought of the cracking a cold one with the boys meme. These lyrics feel BTD ASF.

watch her release like 1-3 more snippet videos of this song along with random film footage and then have it not be on the album or leaked

place holder tbc

Lana is our modern day Edith Piaf. Totally unique. a mixture of Brian WIlson Roy Orbison, Leonard Cohen, Gram Parsons, Elton & Bernie. Born to Die/Paradise is comparable to Elton's Captain Fantastic. All the records need to be listened whole. Waiting for a box set vinyl of all 400 songs not on any lp

for me it's the basic white dude name dropping

"John, Jim, J, Bill, etc.

it's equal parts specific and anecdotal, but also vague enough for people to imagine the scenarios in their own ways- which was a major appeal from her earlier work as her song were both highly descriptive and transparent yet she was still somehow mysterious as fuck

im gettin VG lyrical vibes from the beer, it's like the leaving lover from BJ was the happy times lover from VG set over a piano melody based on the verse alone

also idk if it was the video, her singing along, or the actual track but parts of it sounded shaky, and not like emotional shaky- but like..idk awkwardly shaky i gotta relisten but on my first experience sumn was off

Yes it's def the beer / VG line but also "cry on his shoulder cuz life is hard" literally screams BTD for me idk. Very Gangsta Sinatra. The way the story is told is also very Carmen like. It's like she took lyrical themes from her 2010 unreleased and mixed it with a LFL type instrumental.

BTD / LFL most ambitious crossover in history. Stans could not believe it

I really do like the lyrics. Remind me of all these my man is a bad man type of Lana songs I fell in love with. Hopeless romantic in me is ready to wake up again

Her best poetry writes itself when she's in dispair tbh & if she isn't after all I'm happy she did something about the writers block she was talking about
