No one is saying NFR was Lana’s peak? Personally I wouldn’t call songs like Venice Bitch, The Greatest, MAC or Bartender boring. L4L was hella boring and ugly - I can see how NFR can be seen as a rebirth in comparison.

‘Authentic’ as in more relatable and closer to normal people’s experiences than Lana talking about gambling men, easy riders, coke dealers and the likes (which I equally love btw).
Agreed that she toned it down on NFR which earned her praise but still there’s only so many times one can talk about fame and Hollywood and old Americana without sounding derivative.

I agree but that LFL slander.. this ain't it, chief

The Greatest is literally Lana at her best. I hope there are more songs like that on COCC.

I love the song, but she's very vague in all of NFR

I want a more direct approach, if you will

Amen! That and at least a song that offers some sort of “musical landscape” the way Venice Bitch did (not necessarily as trippy, but something musically audacious).

Gambling men, easy riders, drug dealers are not as uncommon things in life as you make it seem honestly. I also don't understand what authenticity has to do with being relatable. As I said the rant about the culture made it clear that with NFR (and possibly LFL) her main goal was to please critics (and the masses?) and if you ask me that basically means it is not authentic.
I also would like to say that I don't hate neither of her albums, I just didn't enjoy her last two as full body projects.

I love nfr for exactly what it was intended to be. The intention was clearly to create a more relatable ‘day to day’ album and she did it wonderfully. I love it for different reason to why I love her other albums. I understand the frustration of it getting more recognition than some of her other works but it is still an extremely beautiful piece and I respect it for what it is.

i like your ultra-violent swing :grinds:

That prediction page on Twitter that uses cards to see what’s happening said that she’ll do some kind of online show along COCC release where she is going to talk about every track and even the reason for the delay. She will supposedly drop new merch on that show too

Same, I feel so much more excited now!!! THE BEST ERA YET IS COMING

Can people stop acting like NFR was Lana's peak just because it was the most acclaimed album she released, it is literally so watered down and boring. I don't understand what about it is so "authentic" lmao, that's just sounds like pretentious talk. The question for the culture post makes it crystal clear that NFR is not *that* authentic to Lana herself.

I agree 100% about the quality of the album.

why do u think the question for the culture makes NFR isn’t authentic to lana?

I had experiences with that type of witchcraft and I know it may sound crazy and ridiculous, but sometimes (almost every time) they do get things right.... not everything, but it mostly is
