same, and i doubt the situation is lawful/was done in good faith w lana's knowledge/agreement. i don't know much about this copyright situation but still kinda unsettled by this brazen move by a former producer/collaborator. ppl upload unreleased stuff to spotify all the time in roundabout ways but for a literal producer she worked w to do so?

with all due respect, and i mean this in the nicest way, this is extremely hypocritical to be like “i’m not gonna stream” when all of us here actively get invested in leaks of stolen music property that were illegally hacked from Lana and other artists. We all have unreleased albums of stolen music on our laptops and listen to those on a daily basis where no one gets paid for them, not Lana, not the producers, no one.

at least with this, it was the producer who helped create the song who uploaded it

i fully agree it is hypocritical, my favourite lana songs are unreleased - i'm just thinking about the dynamics of a former collaborator taking agency away from lana

i never said i wouldn’t listen

 

not giving someone money is not the same as stealing money

 

edit: also while both are problematic i really only want to financially support it if it’s authorized by lana otherwise i’ll just listen to the files i have

It’s most probably illegal and got almost 500k streams. I’m surprised it’s not removed.

I've been thinking a lot about leak culture as a whole in a different way lately, so my views on this subject are kind of all over the place at the moment. But in general, I think that monetizing things that aren't yours isn't okay. That's why I was so against people wanting to pay somebody $400 for a feature from 7 years ago lol. The only official releases that should be put out of these songs are releases put out by Lana herself or with Lana's consent.

what i don’t get is people saying that lana could’ve requested to not be credited for the song/gave all her rights away to the producer only, we know she likes these songs & only just a few years ago she was performing serial killer & paradise, she’s performed serial killer for years, maybe she gave him permission to upload them, but i still don’t get why she doesn’t seem to have much credits for them, in my eyes, they’re her songs
