edit: i thought that way just bc reading off the comments from 2011/12 interviews… but her lyrics are too real life to be much of a persona/shtick (except loli and off to the races which are the only ones i doubt abt its origin story off the album)

I don't think she played a character but to be honest, the whole Born To Die album is a satire of the American Dream. Some of the serious songs are obviously based on her real life when she was a teenager and her Lizzy days but the album as a whole feels like a satire of the American Dream, pop culture and female stereotypes - kind of almost like Marina's Electra Heart which is also probanly the reason these two albums were always compared to each other then.

I was talking about the era in general (lyrics, photoshoots and music videos). But about her behaviour, I don't think that she played a character, like in interviews or live shows. It was her first time being in the public eye, in the centre of the media, so she was just very shy and her behaviour may have looked like awkward. She has said before that she never needed a character or persona for herself when she could've had.

I admire the way she always keeps an eye on her overall work of art. There are so many ways to step in the wrong direction, but Lana seems to know exactly where she wants to go. She always has the big picture in mind.

I don’t think Lana performs that many songs off Ocean Blvd because many of them are so painfully personal and self revealing. They can be difficult to sing every other night, maybe they’ll be performed later when she has some distance to them.

Reached out to Robert Logan and got some more info.

 

The 4:00 version of the song is the first version of the song, created on the spot with Logan. He told me he knows the other version (3:47) of the song exists but had no part in it and didn't know if it was fanmade or done by another producer.

Yes, she should change the Harvey part to Lucy's In The Sky With Diamonds. It would be The Beatles reference and she loves them, idk how it would make sense in the context but it would be a Lana song overall

Yes I’d expect them to know- it’s not unknown knowledge and if you know someone I’d certainly Google them- takes 10 seconds of your time.

Background checks should be the standard of all decent management
