Embach 42,538 Posted September 2, 2023 Omg I didn't know that Evermore was that less favored I adore Evermore and imo deserves more love. It deserved the same amount as Folklore imo. They're equal to my eyes but I think the lyricism is a bit stronger in Evermore, I mean look at songs like Tolerate It, Champagne Problems, Right Where You Left Me, Cowboy Like Me, Evermore song itself

I have to say I LOVE Folklore and Evermore, but these are actually the only albums by her which I really like. 1989, lover and midnights I like, but I'm not crazy about them. Her earlier work I consider as noisy somehow, please don't kill me 😂🙈 1 Quote It was expensive watch it

Also another unpopular opinion: Evermore is her best album. i like all to well but i don't really care for the 10 minute version. it changes the narrative and mood of the song and messes with the flow and the emotional build up is nonexistent. i also don't believe the 10 minute version was fully formed as it is now back in 2012. we know there was a 10 minute jam session and we know she had lots of ideas that liz rose helped her edit down into a proper song and we know her diaries had some extra lyrics that would realistically be in the 10 minute version if it was fully formed back then but they're not. i feel like she knew she had to put together an extended version to make fans happy but all the lyrics she added felt like looking back at the relationship years later and seeing it clearer from a distance instead of the raw emotions of something that just ended. but imo the original all to well is perfect and i love it. idk if i would call it her best song, she has a lot of songs that could potentially be "the best song". and yeah i guess its kind of overrated now but i feel like the 10 minute version is especially overrated and fans act like it elevates the whole song when it doesnt and i feel like before taylor did red tv, the original all to well wasn't overrated yet. yeah lots of people thought it was her best but they were open to other opinions whereas now they all act like it's objectively her best song and we can't argue that. i also agree with you about evermore being her best album. after that i'd say red (the original, not tv). reputation could be up there too if it had different production bc the writing itself is top tier but the production drags it down.

And while evermore is her best album, Red will always be my favorite and hold a very special place in my heart (not Taylor's Version tho, that can fuck off with her bored vocals). 5 Quote ⊹ (:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅) ⊹ 𓊔 I took the miracle move on drug 𓊔 ⚕️ The effects were temporary ⚕️ ⊹ (:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅[̲̅:♡:]̲̅:̲̅:̲̅:̲̅) ⊹

PARADIXO 32,942 Posted September 2, 2023 Not necessarily about Taylor's work, but I wanted to say this somewhere lol I'm not a Taylor fan at all, although I do follow what she does simply because she's inescapable. There's no doubt that, ever since Lana was directly associated with Taylor, her popularity raised a lot. It all started when Lana worked with Jack, then Taylor ranked Venice Bitch as one of her favorite songs of 2019, then she praised her receiving her Billboard Award, calling Lana the most influential songwriter of the decade, or something along the lines. Eventually they met, became friends and even made a song together, featured in Taylor's most successful album since '1989'. Then Taylor released 'Folklore', her most Lana-esque album, only one year after NFR!, which by now it obviously made an impact in pop music. I think this all led to Taylor and Lana becoming the two biggest female songwriters in the world. People found dots to connect between them: soft, beautiful, femenine vocals, organic instruments, retro aesthetics... Love as a theme is extensively present in their discographies -- although from very different POVs, of course -- but they still 'call out' all these bad boys they fall in love with, and it seems young women in general really like that. I know a lot of girls who listen to Lana almost the same way they listen to Taylor; to relate to the lyrics, to dream about all these romantic stories, to feel soft and beautiful and emotional. Also they were both heavily critized by the media and the GP, and they're both enjoying a career peak right now. Both extremely different in approach and everything obviously, but I hope y'all get my point.

Like it doesn’t even affect u then😭😭 tbh I pretty much only listen to TVs mostly bc I don’t want to have 2 different versions of a song downloaded onto my phone and the TVs feel like the “complete collection” of the album, and the first time I listen I can hear some differences but then it just sounds normal to me lmao 2 Quote ❀❀ ˖° ⋆.ೃ࿔ this is my idea of fun °⋆.ೃ࿔*:・

I never really cared for that song either. The only thing I'm tiny bit upset about is that I prefer the sparkly thingy sound intro in the stolen version of Sad Beautiful Tragic more than in the new version. I also love the mattress lyric more in Revenge

Evergreen 8,385 Posted September 2, 2023 It's insane how good evermore is considering Taylor started creating the album from songs that didn't make it onto folklore. It's richer in sound and has stronger lyrics, although I still prefer folklore because it has so many songs that I absolutely in love with
