Make me your Dream Life 89,291 Posted November 24 I watched Gladiator II and I enjoyed it a lot. I feel like some moments felt rushed overall, but I appreciate so much the art direction and how pretty it looked. I had a great experience watching it, it was giving more of like, a play than a movie if that makes sense. I do find it funny how it seems like a lot of people didn't like it bc it wasn't masculine enough, but that's what it's supposed to be like, like the original in how it's supposed to show the other side of what being a gladiator was right? that's what I took from it anyway. I wish there was a bit more, and that it didn't feel as almost formulaic, but I did enjoy it overall.

That and Waiting for Guffman are classics, though I do prefer best in show everrrrrr so slightly. the last thing I watched was Terrifier 2 and it wasn’t good but it was also not awful and it’s kind of funny they made that movie over two hours when there is barely a shred of a plot. The second half drags so much and could have been tightened up by just cutting a bunch of useless drawn out scenes. Also, the infamous bedroom scene IS insanely gory but in a totally not believable or serious way so it comes off as more goofy than anything. I’ll watch the third one eventually I imagine just to see what inane way they continue to try and make this franchise have a plot tho.

My expectations were slightly too high but still really enjoyed it lucky you! Better than the northman, and the lighthouse? Because those really annoyed me in a lot of ways. i last saw Wicked (9/10), and Conclave (7.5/10). The first exceeded my expectations, the second is like an airport page turner.

HawaiianTea 281 Posted December 3 Blow-Up (1966) I really only watched it because of Jane Birkin. The film was kind of boring - it didn’t go anywhere
somber 604 Posted December 4 House of Spoils (2024) with Barbie Ferreira, Ariana DeBose, & Arrian Moayed Thoughts. . . Spoiler I thought the movie was okay. I didn't mind a little thriller movie late at night. I went in thinking it was going to be a horror movie about food, but at best it was a thriller movie. Nothing demonic as far as I think. It wasn't scary, like at all, but it was unsettling and disgusting in some parts. Loved Barbie's acting in this movie, and Ariana did a great job. This is my first movie I've seen Ariana in so that was interesting. I would recommend this movie as a movie to watch with by yourself or others, just a calm 101-minute movie Rating: 3/5 stars or 65 out of 100

Make me your Dream Life 89,291 Posted December 8 I watched Wicked like maybe a couple of weeks ago? anyway, in the recent past but. I've been liking the discourse between the character analyses and the lore/ world of Oz and looking into it. I was definitely enhcanted w the film. watched it in dolby for the sake of color, and at times, it kinda felt like a disney plus kinda film for streaming only, but it had some great moments. What sold me on watching it were actually the interivews between the 2 main actresses, but it's just got me so interested in how the world of Oz can just parallel a lot, and idk but for me, it makes me think about how much of a Glinda you might be, or how much of an Elphaba you might be, and the blends of both. the duality and oppositeness of them, identity, and just the social dynamics of it. what people pardon, what people vilify, the different layers of consciousness and how it all interacts. being seen, and understood, vs only being perceived. I liked the film, but I love how it just opens up this sort of public/ popular kind of discussion of things regarding that. I think it's really good, and it can be eye opening. I was also reading about part 2, and how that might go about, and I'm still debating whether or not I'll see it in a year in theaters, but overall, I like how polarizing it might be, but also, just the kind of conversation it brings to the forefront of society.
