Sorry i probably missed all of this discourse but did we think charli's barbie girl version was sent out for the barbie movie? Stan nicki and ice spice but cant see why their song was chosen even over saweeties version besides the publicity...  has HQ of charlis version leaked to the public?

Honestly I think Charli was the only artist to really bring something on theme to the table. Besides the aqua song, no one else even bothered to try and world build / reference anything on brand. I think the Mickey song works perfectly in the Barbie universe and they really wanted to extend that with Speed Drive. Plus it helped that there was at least 3 other songs probably pitched for the movie that use the Aqua song…

it would be smart to release it as soon as the hype for speed drive starts to die down (ie the next month or 2) to keep up the momentum, she could tack it on to the album as a bonus track and get ha streams although i expect she may do this with speed drive anyway if there's no legal issues with mattel. but unforch i think the ship sailed when they gave the sample to nicki and ice spice
